Lesson #8 - Thoughts
"Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words.
Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions.
Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits.
Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character.
Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny."

The next time you inadvertently think in a negative fashion, think about the person that you are moulding yourself into.

Lesson #7 - Adaptation
Humans are likely the most adaptable species on this planet.
This would largely stem from our strong ability to remember past events, our conscious and subconscious ability of pattern recognition, and our muscle memory.
Humans are continuously pushing the boundaries once previously thought to be physically or mentally impossible.  Youtube videos often exemplify these traits when watching people accomplish outstanding feats.
The take away lesson here is that people are capable of doing more than they can often even comprehend.
All it takes is time and patience.

Lesson #5 - Fear
In my previous post, I discussed the nature of perspective and that all experiences are inherently neutral.
Fear can be one of the most debilitating restrictions in achieving personal progress.
If fear is truly a subjective reaction to ones environment, then there should be no reason that we cannot control that emotional response.
Controlling fear becomes easier with this exercise:
In your day-to-day activities, if there ever is a circumstance whereby you catch yourself feeling anxious, fearful or irrationally concerned, stop what you are doing, and ask yourself why you are reacting the way that you are.
Is there any genuine reason for you to feel so?
What is the worst possible outcome if that concern comes to fruition?
And, most importantly, is your emotional response increasing your chances of accomplishing what you want?

Lesson #4 - Creativity
It's an incredible thing to be able to look around and realize that everything in this world that has been created by people has been done so through the act of creativity.
It's my belief that continuous engagement in some form of creative outlet enables the personal development of the mind, or the soul, or consciousness, or whatever other label you would like place on it.
And yet, from my perspective, it seems to be an underrated quality in modern society.
I believe that all people should find at least one creative outlet that they are passionate about, and then frequently engage in it.  I also believe that it will provide a stronger sense of self-satisfaction and improved quality of life.
If you are not engaging in a creative activity, be it painting, or building lego blocks, or knitting, or starting a new business venture, I would suggest that in your spare time, find something that draws your attention, try it out for 6 months, and then see how you feel.

Lesson #3 - Perspective
A good friend of mine once told me:
"All of the experiences we have are inherently subjective.  And if that is the case, then it is in our power to decide how we react to every circumstance in our life."
I took that as an empowering revelation: Being aware of how to control your viewpoints and subsequently your courses of action to all circumstances.
Try to be mindful of this in your day to day activities.

Lesson #2 - Progress
In perceiving the nature of causality, it is my belief that, at least since the beginning of the universe, nothing is static.  Everything is in a constant state of change, no matter how small.
This applies to all things, be they organisms (including ourselves), peoples behavior, relationships, politics, religions, and beliefs.
If this is true, I believe that it is illogical for anyone to try to keep things 'as they are'.  Rather, one must consider either on how to improve or worsen any particular thing.
Consider this when you consider the priorities of your life.

Lesson #1 - What You Don't Know
With regards to the meaning of life, life after death, and the nature of consciousness, I have come to realize that:
I do not (and most likely never will) have the answers to these questions.  But more importantly;
No one else has these answers either.
Be aware of those that claim they do.  Beliefs are very much different than facts, and many people often do not realize this.
Remember this and live your life accordingly.
