LukeyTV appreciation post.

I wasn’t on the stream yesterday, but I have heard what has happened. Lukey has every right to set boundaries, and we as chatters and viewers should take said changes in emote usage and other things with grace and dignity. This is a real person. Lukey and Pangi deserve to be appreciated as separate people, they are both so amazing, including without the other one being around.

So, here is an appreciation post about Lukey!

First of all, that’s literally my streamer guys, dare I even say comfort streamer usually. He has built a community of (mostly) such kind and accepting people who are just genuinely nice to communicate with.

Lukey puts so much effort into caring about his community too. He streams almost daily, and gives us so much different content to consume. Some of my personal favorites other than Minecraft have been Peak streams with friends and scary Saturdays.

Don’t even get me started on the Minecraft content, and the quality of it. His lore is so well thought out and incredibly engaging, it’s actually what got me into the realm. All the lore events that happens really make me feel something, and I’m sure it does for other people too. And I absolutely love it when he sometimes pulls back the curtain and talks about the meta of it all, like showing us the secret behind all the magic.

As a pretty new Lukey viewer (I only started watching about a month ago), his streams never fail to make my day better, even when they are heartbreaking lore streams, because they are equally heartbreaking and beautiful. I’ve had Lukey say “Hi” to me and others in chat, and it just shows that, even with his ever growing amount of viewers, he’s still so willing to one on one interact with his community. Like it’s just nice to be like, oh, my streamer knows I exist! (In like a oh yeah I’m a username on a screen still, not a parasocial way ofc).

But yeah. (Also his laugh and smile are so contagious I can’t even that’s the first thing I noticed when I started watching him). I made this post as a Lukey main, but I also have equal parts appreciation for Pangi too as his own content creator, and I encourage Pangi mains to spread positivity about him too! Both deserve so much recognition for all that they do and how amazing they are, individually, without the inclusion of the other. Because they are their own people.

So, with Twitch Rivals MCC at San Diego is now confirmed, here’s a list of all who’s confirmed, and then who I want to be in it still :D

People I still want:

- More hermits (Cub, Skizz, Tango, literally anyone I can get)

- Pangi and Lukey (even if they are on separate teams)

- More Realm and/or Lifestealers (idk who’s confirmed to go to twitchcon but really any of them)

ANYWAYS. I’m already so happy Scar, Gem, Pearl, and Impulse are confirmed, I’m so excited for that!

While it is a little disappointing for us to be going into a Realm finale without an explicit ‘We’re boyfriends’ talk from trPangkey, a lot of fans are kind of just ignoring the Everything about their relationship and trying to shoehorn it into something traditionally acceptable by average societal standards

Like, okay, we know trLukey is incredibly in love with trPangi. He had a ridiculously long and sweet monologue about just how much he loves him right after their first date, and it was pretty well implied that at least one small part of his reasoning behind his suicide via BBH was because Pangi is about to leave him. Everything he does, every single action he takes in regards to literally anything Pangi could even vaguely be associated with, is for Pangi’s sake

Lukey, infamous for not making promises and even more infamous for taking his goddamn helmet off whenever possible, put on a helmet with curse of binding on it because Pangi asked him to

And we know that Pangi arguably fell first. From his excitement over Lukey agreeing to go to the ball with him to even his corrupted, amnesiac self latching on to Lukey pretty quickly after their first day spent together to him calling Lukey his teammate?? Wanting to marry him? Confessing to trBeky that he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Lukey? Saying multiple times, occasionally even by accident, that they’re dating/boyfriends?

Pangi, while still occasionally laughing it off, stopped correcting people on the Realm when they called him and Lukey boyfriends. How long has it been since he’s pulled the ‘I’m straight btw’ card?

As we’re going into the final weeks of the server, we’re looking at two queer characters dancing around their feelings while still very much acknowledging them in a more private setting; private, here, refers to a setting where the other member of the relationship isn’t there

Pangi is plagued by self doubt, we all know this. On Lifesteal, any display of weakness is taken advantage of. People know you’re close to someone? They kill them/hold them hostage/etc. This applies on the Realm, too… in a slightly different way. When Pangi was open about caring about Mocha and was openly grieving for him, nearly the entire server mocked him and his grief; even the freaking newspaper had a series of jokes in it making fun of him grieving the man he considered to be a soulmate. Everyone seemed determined to out him as a queer man when he wasn’t ready to accept that part of himself including not only his dead best friend but his dead best friend’s corrupted reincarnation, Pili

Even now, when Pangi is close with most of the remaining Realmers, everyone teases him over Lukey, and while we know it’s different, it might be hard for his brain to really interpret it as something different from the cruelty he experienced in the server’s early months. He doesn’t default to the ‘I’m straight’ card hardly at all anymore, but there’s still an obvious hesitance to actually label his and Lukey’s relationship

Still, he calls Lukey his teammate, and that, on Lifesteal, is the closest thing to a marriage there is (outside of the literal weddings.) He goes to Lukey first when he has a project he’s working on, he knows that Lukey won’t judge him or leave him when he wants to destroy the world or terrorize the server. He trusts Lukey possibly even more than he even trusts Aimsey, and he’d do anything to protect him and keep him safe

Lukey, meanwhile, is someone who prefers to act on logic rather than feelings. We all know this is bullshit, but it’s how he’s approached his relationship with just about everyone on the server, Pangi included. But the problem is that he’s more emotional than he likes to think he is, and those emotions are often twisted by him as something logical

He was afraid to ask Pangi about the dragon egg because, to him, a logical reaction to that question would be anger and distrust. This is because he tried asking about it at the end of their first date, and Pangi panicked and rushed off immediately afterwards. He was seemingly proven right when that conversation did occur and Pangi immediately went on the defensive, justifying his irrational fears as a logical chain of events

Lukey has hesitated on even attempting to label his relationship with Pangi, again, possibly because of his whole ‘twisted logic’ thing. The last thing he heard before Pangi fully succumbed to the Corruption was an ‘I love you’. Pangi hasn’t said it to him again since. Lukey himself has a history of forced memory loss, and he now lives in a constant state of paranoia because his memory lane- his very memories themselves in his literal brain, even- are at risk of being wiped out of existence again because of a rude fucking High Keeper with a grudge against him. He doesn’t want Pangi to feel the pain of being in love with someone who once told him ‘I love you’ but who now looks at him like he’s a stranger. This is him acting out of fear, but, to him, this is a logical conclusion.

He confuses emotions and logic all the time, but he’s also the one who put the binding helmet on and told Pangi in no uncertain terms to go home. He’s a selfish man, but (almost) nothing matters to him more than Pangi’s happiness; he hates making promises, he’s irrationally afraid of being alone, but he knows that Pangi would be miserable staying in the Realm, and he gives up his invisibility potions and fashion sense to give Pangi that sense of extra security.

Are they explicitly together? No, but… do they need to be? It would be nice to hear from an audience perspective, but pangkey’s relationship is such a beautifully queer one that maybe actual labels aren’t necessary for it. Even taking into accounts each character’s doubts and insecurities, it’s clear to everyone that they’re deeply in love with each other. Sure, they might never be actually married, but do they need to be to still be in love?

(Admittedly, it would be nice to get a ‘what are we?’ talk from them, but that’s like pulling teeth. Even with their doubts, though, it really does look like each of them still considers the other their ride-or-die until at least the end of the server. Because, even with their insecurity and self-doubts and self-hatred, they still go back to each other, and I think that says more about their relationship than a bunch of marriage vows ever could.)

Pangi and Lukey Fanart from in Pangi’s shack that he built after his house exploded and Lukey came back after being killed by Bad.
