Thinking about ways to make some thing or some process more efficient, more effective, cheaper to make, etc... Trying to make something better. I think that innovation is often confused with invention. It is not necessarily the invention of a new product, but could just be a way to make a product that already exists better. One example is the innovation of how we listen to music. We had records, which changed to 8-tracks, to tapes, to CD's, to digital (I probably missed some steps along the way).
