I'm relatively new to ao3 community and don't really know the terms people use (ie. slash fic/songfic/crack) mean, do you mins explaining what they mean and maybe provide a rec for the terms? Thank you!

I think the best way to actually get a feel for what these different types of fic are is to actually go in a read some? My advice is to click on each one on my tags page and just pick a few to read (they’re all recs, so any one is fine, really).

I would also suggest searching on Fanlore.org, which is pretty much a Fandom Wiki and they usually do a pretty good job explaining the different fandom terms!

I think the anon looking for the past/present fic might've been looking for "You never have to wonder; you never have to ask" by gamesformay. It's here on ao3: /works/5413856. It think they were tasers rather than rubber bullets, but otherwise it fits I think :)

Hi! I was looking for a fic that flashes between past and present -- past is a protest that went wrong and grantaire steps in front of enjolras when there are a bunch of rubber bullets, and present is grantaire coming back into town a while after that and reconstructing his relationship with Enjolras. Hi, I need help I'm so sorry. I've lost and refound this fic at least a dozen times and I want to download it once and for all so I stop losing it like a dummy. It's a oneshot where Grantaire works at a restaurant that Enjolras runs (I think???) and he works as the bartender and like I remember early on Bahorel is there and says something about Grantaire not being able to make a Manhattan and then Enjolras confronts Grantaire about dropping out of university.
