On July 2, 1993, a islamist mob murdered about thirty of Alevis in a massacre in the Turkish City Sivas. The victims, who had gathered for a cultural festival in Sivas, were killed when a mob of Salafists set fire to the hotel Madimak where the Alevi group had assembled.
