New Deepwell is the oily engine fueling the Republic of Cascade's expansion. Its greenhouses and hydroponic systems feed the city's biofuel refinery, which likewise keeps the city's Cascade-installed biofuel generator running. Some farmers feel bitter over the city's gradual capture by the ROC, while the newcomer workers only see opportunity and relative abundance.
