Our friends at MTH are recruiting! There are still a few days to consider joining the team.
Marvel Trumps Hate is looking for people to join our team!
Consider this our official announcement: Marvel Trumps Hate is coming back for our eighth year!
We’re preparing for another awesome auction, and the first thing on our to-do list is finding more event mods. While we're a well-oiled machine at this point, it's a lot of work to keep an event of this size going, and we'd love to have new mods join our ranks to bolster our team.
You do not need to be a Marvel aficionado (don't worry, we're not going to quiz you on your Marvel knowledge) or know the ins and outs of MTH to apply, nor do you need to come with years of event organizing experience or be an expert on Wordpress, Google Sheets, etc. as we'll be training you in all aspects of modding. We're looking first and foremost for enthusiasm and dedication; someone who is eager to learn and continue with the team, not just be a one-time mod for this year, would be a great fit.
Also, please note that if you’re on the event team, you can still participate in the auction! On the flip side, if you only want to help out as a team member, you’re not obligated to offer fanworks or bid on anything in the auction.
If you’re interested in joining our team, please email [email protected] and include the following information:
Confirmation that you’re over 18 (just let us know you're 18+; we're not asking you to share your personal info!)
The best way to contact you
Availability:
Please let us know what time zone you’re in and what days/how many hours per week you can commit to MTH from the start of September to the start of November.
Are you interested in modding beyond this year? (It's okay if you don't know what future years will look like for you, but ideally, we're looking for someone who hopes to continue working with us, if possible.)
Experience/skills: Please state if you have any experience running fandom auctions or other fandom events and any skills you believe will be handy (e.g., you’re a Google Sheets expert). Previous experience is preferred but not necessary although if you don't have, say, spreadsheet experience, please let us know why you're confident you can pick up skills quickly.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. You can reach us by email, Tumblr Messenger, askbox, or DM on Twitter or Bluesky. Thank you!

Workable Prompt Deadline is June 30th
FTH creators and especially bidders, take note! The workable prompt deadline is coming. If you've been dragging your feet about communicating with your creator, now is the time to get in touch so you can both reach an agreement about what they will create for you.
Not sure what we mean by a workable prompt? Having trouble reaching an agreement? Our Bidder/Creator Relations FAQ has some tips. If you're stuck you can also email us, ideally sooner rather than later!

Places you can help this Pride Month!
Happy Pride!
FTH has long prioritized focusing the combined financial support of the fandom community on small organizations where a few thousand - or even a few hundred - dollars can make a big impact.
To this end, every year we have an "Umbrella Category," where bidders can choose a local organization within our category to support.
This year, our Umbrella was LGBTQ+ organizations, and it was a runaway success! Not only did our suggested orgs get lots of donations, bidders threw their support behind eighty-eight different local organizations.
Because these orgs operate locally, not only do your donations make a big impact, they are often looking for local volunteers! If one is near you, this Pride might be the perfect time to take a look at their volunteer opportunities and see if one is right for you. Even if you can't donate or volunteer right now, it's a good idea to take a look at what organizations and services are in your area, in case you or someone you know ever need support.
Under the cut you will find links to all of the LGBTQ+ organizations our bidders supported this year, organized by location.
There are some larger orgs on the list, often because creators chose them as the one additional organization they are allowed to add to their choices from our list, but most of these operate on a smaller scale.
Check them out!

We Have Warm Cookies!!
We are over the moon to announce that our next AMA guest will be Evan Weissman of Warm Cookies of the Revolution! Evan founded this organization in 2012 as a "Civic Health Club", hosting events that inspire and connect people to civic life. From their website:
We create live events, video series, board books NOT for babies, collaborating with everything from circus freaks, lowrider car clubs, comedians, mariachis, food battles, and truly anything that gets regular people to connect and have a say in the decisions, storytelling, and culture work of their community. We work with residents to take crucial, boring, heated, or otherwise challenging issues and make sure that they are as accessible and disarming and engaging as possible, for people who are least likely to show up and take part, so that they have a say in their own history, present, and future.
Join us in our usual timeslot, Tuesday, May 13th at 9:00 PM Eastern/6:00 Pacific. The place? The FTH Action Discord Server. We're so excited for this conversation! If you have any questions for Evan in advance, please drop them in the replies!
Wondering how the event will be structured? Here's the deets. Evan and the moderator will be in the server's voice channel and most likely on video. Everyone else will join the channel as listeners only. You can chat with each other in a text channel and submit questions that way, too. The moderator will cherry-pick questions if necessary (so far, the events have been small and it hasn't been necessary) and convey them to Evan, interview-style.

Starting shortly!
Our next Activist AMA is coming up!
Join us Tuesday, April 15th at 9:00 Eastern/6:00 Pacific for an AMA with Wendy Via, CEO and Co-Founder of Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. We're extremely honored to host Wendy on the FTH Action Discord Server.
We'll talk over video with Wendy about GPAHE's mission, her history as an activist, and the kinds of things we can do to get involved or support their work.
We will have some questions ready, but we also want to ask yours! You can leave a question as a comment on this post, or you can bring it with you to the AMA on Tuesday.
About GPAHE
GPAHE was on of FTH's supported orgs for 2025. GPAHE believes that to protect and advance human rights, particularly those of marginalized and underrepresented communities, build inclusive democracies, and solve global challenges, we must expose and counter the far-right actors and movements that undermine those values. GPAHE exposes and disrupts racist and other hateful transnational movements, holds tech companies accountable, advocates for policies to eradicate hate and far-right extremism, and builds multinational coalitions to protect communities.

Bidders, answer your creators!
The deadline for bidders to acknowledge contact from their creators and start nailing down a workable prompt is Tomorrow, April 15th. If your creator doesn't hear from you within a reasonable amount of time, you may forfeit the fanwork you won! So don't let this moment pass you by.
Next deadline coming up: June 30, you need to have given your creator a workable prompt or worked out an alternate schedule with them!
If you are a bidder still waiting to hear from your creator, please email the FTH mods so that we can try to track them down.

Umbrella orgs
Back in 2019 FTH decided we wanted our collective donations to have a larger impact, and shifted away from the ‘flagship’ progressive orgs to smaller nonprofits, where our money would go farther. The thank you notes we got from these orgs told us we’d made the right move.
In 2021 we came up with another idea for how to increase our reach by including not just smaller nonprofits, but local orgs. Places in our communities doing the work to support our friends and neighbors in need. That year, and each year since, we’ve selected a category of need and a handful of exemplary examples of orgs working to meet it, and encouraged you to donate to them OR to put your local orgs working in that space under the ‘umbrella’ of that category.
In the last 4 years, our umbrella categories have been food banks, abortion funds, and environmental orgs. The umbrella category typically received just under 15% of total donations, and by that metric it was a success. Most of those donations, however, went to the example orgs we suggested, rather than to local orgs in our communities, and although the orgs we listed are stellar, and doing excellent work, their success wasn’t quite what we’d been aiming for.
2025? Was different.
This year our umbrella category was orgs serving LGBT+ communities. This year the umbrella captured 26.5% of all donations. And? This year, ‘other’ orgs —your write-in local orgs— made up 33.3% of the umbrella.

Although the majority of donations went toward our five pre-selected orgs, a full third of umbrella donations went to other local organizations. They got a larger slice of the donut pie than any of our pre-selected orgs!
That 33.3% comprised EIGHTY-EIGHT orgs. Here is a breakdown of donations made to umbrella orgs other than the five we’d suggested:

Just ... look at them all! This —THIS— is what we've been hoping to see.
Below the cut is a list of all the local orgs you all donated to under the LGBT+ umbrella -

Let's play Bingo!
A few months ago, as part of our blitz rollout of FTHA during the leadup to this year's auction, we shared our Activism Bingo Cards.
Now that FTH2025 has come and gone, we're getting serious....
.... WE'RE PLAYING BINGO.
The week of April 7th-13th is our first-ever BINGO WEEK here at FTHA. If you've been sort of halfway meaning to do something -- to find a way to help, to join up with others who are already doing the work, to counteract your own despair -- consider this your sign from the universe. And luckily, this sign comes with some organizational structure and a community to do it with!
How to play:
get yourself a bingo card, if you haven't already.
strategize. Which of the items on your card would be easy to knock out? How close do those items get you to bingo -- and what other tasks would you need to complete to get there?
Use the next couple of days to gear up for the more challenging tasks. This might mean making accountability plans with a friend, or procuring information or supplies, or just psyching yourself up. Whatever it is, you can do it!
Once bingo week starts, post about the things you've done! You can post a picture of your card with one or more tasks crossed off, or just make a text post in which you talk about what you did. If you tag us (fthaction) in the post, we'll reblog it! Be sure not to include sensitive information in these reports!
Tell us when you've hit bingo! We'll reblog that post too -- and we hope you'll use it to share a story about the most rewarding thing you've done along the way.
You can blacklist the tag "activism bingo" if you want to... but wouldn't it be more fun to play along instead?

Attention ROFLers!
If you signed up to join ROFL either via your auction signup, or directly through the ROFL form, OR if you were on the ROFL roster last year ... check your emails! We've sent you a link to a form where you can request edits to your ROFL post before we share the roster with the FTH creators. Be sure to check spam, and *also* to check Social and Promotions, since Google has occasionally shuffled our emails into those folders and out of sight. If we don't hear from you by April 7, your post will not be visible to FTH creators seeking assistance.

Etiquette for Winning Bidders
So, you won an FTH auction, or maybe one than one! First of all, congratulations, and thank you! Your donations add up to making a real difference for the small organizations we supported this year.
When creators sign up to offer fanwork through FTH, we ask them to formally commit to creating the fanwork/doing the fan labor they've created. When you bid on the auction, we asked you to confirm your age and to commit to making your donation—and that's all! However, there's more that we expect of winning bidders to keep the auction running smoothly and make it a positive experience that will keep creators coming back year after year.
Open communication
Please check your inbox regularly for communication from your creator, and please don't "ghost" or disappear. One of the main reasons that auctions end up incomplete is because the creator was waiting for an answer that never came. And if you don’t hear from your creator in a while, don’t be afraid of sending a gentle checkin.
Be flexible, be kind
The creative process isn't always a straight line. Sometimes a prompt you’d agreed on just doesn’t want to work with the creator’s brain and you might need to let them change gears. Treat your creator as a collaborative partner, not a content-creation machine.
Near the end of the year we often have creators scrambling to finish, and some may need some extra time. Unless there is a reason for a deadline (such as using the beta work you won for a specific event), try to be flexible with timelines. If you know ahead of time that there will be a hard deadline for something, let you creator know as soon as possible.
Reread the offering post and make sure your requests are within those guidelines
Don’t ask for anything that is on their “Unwilling to Address” list; we are very clear with creators that they will never be expected to create anything on there. If they mentioned how they prefer to work with bidders, work within those guidelines - if they say they want lots of feedback, do your best to give it, but if they prefer to take a prompt and run with it on their own, don’t expect to be able to give your approval every step of the way.
It may also sometimes be the case that you want something that was not in the creator's "Unwilling to Address" section, but when it comes to an actual prompt, the creator finds that they're not comfortable. Please be willing to work with and respect any boundaries that your creator expresses to you.
Pay attention to our deadlines for you
Your creator needs to contact you by April 1 (please email us if they don’t) but they also need to hear back from you by April 15—even a note to say “hey, sorry, I’m swamped right now but I’ll be able to talk prompts in a couple weeks” works! Just let them know you haven’t ghosted them.
Then you need to have given them a workable prompt (something they agree they can work with) by June 30, or in the case of fan labor, agreed with them on when you’ll be working together (for example, “I’ll get you a draft of this Big Bang fic to beta in October”). If you don’t meet this deadline, or work out an alternative with your creator, we may release your creator from their commitment.
Stay Organized
We've had cases where a creator emailed us looking for their bidder, and when we look up the bidder, we see that they won a large number of auctions and most likely just lost track of some of their requests. If you're one of these serial bidders, a) We love you!! b) Please make a list and stay on top of your requests! Make sure you answer messages from your creators promptly, and maybe even set up some calendar reminders to check in now and then before the end of the year.

Now that everything is settled and creators have been put in contact with their high bidders, here are the important deadlines to be aware of:
Creator Contact Deadline: April 1st Creators, reach out to your bidders! We've sent you their email address. (Bidders, let us know if your creator misses this deadline so that we can poke them!)

Workable Prompt Deadline: June 30 By now, bidders and creators should have talked things over and settled on a workable prompt. What do we mean by a workable prompt? Read more in our Bidder/Creator Relations FAQ.
Finished Fanwork Deadline: December 31st This is the deadline to get your finished work to your bidder, be it fic, podfic, art, beta, or whatever else! Fill out our completed fanwork form to let us know when you're done. Your work does not have to be posted publicly, but if it's not, we may reach out to the bidder to make sure they got it!
Publicly posted fanworks will be compiled on the FTH 2025 Fanworks blog. We also have a lot more cool stuff planned for FTH Action, so be sure to follow us there!

A Message from TransFamily Support Services
Another one of our supported orgs this year has reached out to express their gratitude for all the support you've sent their way. Here is the message we've been asked to share!
Thank You for Standing with Trans Youth! We at TransFamily Support Services are beyond grateful to Fandom Trumps Hate and every single donor who has contributed to our mission. Your generosity is making a direct and lasting impact on trans youth and their families at a time when our community needs it more than ever. In the past few months, we’ve seen a drastic increase in those reaching out for support. Our services reach trans youth in all 50 states—including some of the most challenging places to live as a trans individual—bringing hope, affirmation, and vital resources to those who need them most. Your donations go right back into the community we serve, helping us provide gender-affirming items to youth who can’t safely access them, funding support groups and workshops, and expanding our outreach to ensure no one feels alone in their journey—among many other initiatives dedicated to protecting and uplifting our youth. Time and time again, our community shows up for one another, and your support is a powerful reminder to trans youth everywhere that they are seen, valued, and loved for who they are. Thank you for being part of this movement with us! It makes all the difference in the world! Folks can follow our journey, educational resources, calls to actions, and other updates on Facebook and Instagram (@transfamilysos)! We also have Discord servers for trans youth (up to age 30) that can be joined via our linktr.ee/transfamilysos!
