Twisted Wonderland: Your Boyfriend Finding Out You Have A Cult [Overblot Boys] [Azul & Jamil]

Summary: Your Boyfriend discovers a secret cult dedicated to you; completely worshipping you as Night Raven's Beast Tamer/Magicless Prefect and his relationship with you. How would he react?

Note: The Prefect is Gender-Neutral

After Azul's Overblot, the Prefect started coming to the Mostro Lounge to check on his well-being, like making sure that he was eating & not allowing himself to be consumed by seemingly endless work. Per their request, Jade would call the Prefect when Azul refused to listen to Floyd or himself about taking breaks; Azul would not question the Prefect.

After a few weeks, The Prefect started doing part-time work for the Mostro Lounge to do work, make food, or (surprisingly good at it) do the ledger paperwork that Azul & The Leech Twins; it turned out the Prefect worked at their Family Restaurant before coming to Wonderland, so they were able to make critical money moves that brought more money to the Mostro Lounge.

Azul finally asked the Prefect to date him after they got closer and talked about possible ways to improve the Mostro Lounge. Azul found someone who loved him as he was and not for what he could do for them. The Prefect refused to take money from Azul, demanding to work for it with their job; they even paid for most of their dates. They wanted to spend time with Azul, not his money, and Azul loved them more than anything.

A Month into their relationship, Azul and the Twins noticed something.

There were the most customers in the Mostro Lounge.

More people are asking him to sign contracts with them for minor favors.

He also noticed how respectful people were during classes or when he was just walking through the hall. People would smile at him, sing his praises, or just wish him a great day while requesting that he take proper breaks.

Azul was happy, but curious as to why all this was happening. Therefore, he tasked Jade with figuring out why students from other dorms were treating them with so much respect without fear.

During his investigation, Jade discovered a few students speaking about Azul & the Prefect before the conversation shifted talks about a meeting and judgment about 'moving up in the ranks'. After learning the date for this so-called meeting, Jade decided to play detective.

During the night of the meeting, Jade followed the robed students to one of the abandoned buildings in Night Raven's Forest; armed with his camera, Jade recorded the entire meeting while being disguised as one of the members when he noticed what was happening: Azul & The Prefect had a Fan Club.

No, this wasn't a fan club; this was a cult.

"Tonight, we gather here in the radiance & benevolence, in the superiority & brilliance of the Housewarden of Octavinelle, Azul Ashengrotto, and his beloved pearl, The Ramshackle Prefect." The Leader started before turning to two members who were standing in the front in simple white robes; they must be new initiates since everyone was donning robes in Octavinelle's Colors.

"These two wish to join the consortium (A Group of Octopus), but are they worthy to join our ranks and bask in the glory that is Azul Ashengrotto & The Prefect?" The Leader turned to face someone in an Eel Mask, "What do your records say?"

"From what I've documented from the reports, these Elvers have completed each task given to them with descression. They have collected relics of the Prefect, as well as collected experiences with Azul Ashengrotto." The person in the Eel Mask said before looking at the main speaker. "I say they have earned the chance to join us."

The Leader exhales before nodding, "Very well. You Elvers are allowed the join us, but keep in mind that you are not to speak of us to anyone. We are lowly anemones to Azul & The Prefect. We can only bask in their glory and admire them from a distance."

"Yes. We understand. Thank you." The Initiates bow their heads before they get their own masks and robes. Once they walked off to get dressed, the Leader spoke out that it was time for the feast. It was then that Jade ended his recording and crept out of the room without being seen. Azul was going to be interested in this.

The next morning, Jade showed Azul the footage; sure enough, the Octopus's ego inflated, and he was on Cloud Nine. First things first, he needed to find his Pearl. Time to give his consortium some pictures to admire.

|Jamil Viper|

Throughout his whole life, Jamil was never allowed to outshine Kalim, which led to brewing resentment towards the one he once considered a friend. When he attempted to eject Kalim from the Night Raven with his Coup Attempt, everything was going as planned until he pulled the Prefect of Ramshackle into it: Both his best and worst move.

The Prefect, despite being without magic, was renowned as the strongest and smartest individual on campus. Their ability to defeat three Overblots without a drop of magic piqued Jamil's interest. Two of these Overblots were Leona Kingscholar, the strongest in physical strength, and Azul Ashengrotto, the cunning conman of Octavinelle. Both of their plans failed due to the Prefect's exceptional strength and intelligence, not to mention their appealing appearance.

That was Jamil's Mission after Kalim was gone: Making the Prefect his own.

The Prefect showing up in Night Raven's Kitchen while Jamil was there with the other Scarabia students to make lunch seemed like a blessing from the Sorcerer of the Sands himself. An invitation was all it took to get the Prefect into Scarabia, while the rest was just acting to show Kalim as the Unjust Tyrant, while Jamil was the savior that Scarabia needed. Everything was perfect... Until the Prefect escaped and returned with the Octo-Trio in tow.

Those Damn Fish ruined everything. Limiting the amount of time Jamil was around Kalim weakened his hold on him. In addition, it was clear that Azul had an interest in the Prefect as well, but they were uninterested in him. Then, everything started falling apart: Without Jamil's Hold on Kalim, he was back to being the Housewarden that Scarabia loved; Jamil was losing clout. He had to do something. He had to get rid of the Octo-Trio. And he attempted...and got caught.

Jamil's Overblot was sheer power, but as before, the Prefect defeated him. Kalim spoke to the Scarabia Students, and everyone gave him a second chance. And the Prefect never left his side; the two of them started out as a couple when the Prefect couldn't deny their feelings for him.

About 3 Months after Jamil's Relationship with the Prefect became public knowledge, that's when Jamil noticed the changes.

Students in Scarabia started doing more around the dorm.

They began coming to Jamil for Leadership Advice.

They started referring to Jamil as 'Sir' while simply calling Kalim by his name.

They even started rejecting the idea of parties for more study sessions when Jamil said that it was vital.

More and more students began showing Jamil respect and praising him for his knowledge. He wanted to find out why. So that's what he did.

During one night, Jamil noticed one of the students heading into the Old Wing of Scarabia, which was sealed off, and no one ventured there; so how did he get the key, and what was he doing in there?

Jamil followed with the stealth of a serpent and found that the Old Wing was fixed, decorated, and modified with soundproofing. In Scarabian Students & students from other dorms were dressed in robes that mirrored the Sorcerer of the Sands'. A throne with a replica of the Sorcerer's Staff leaning against it as people began speaking.

"When will our Sultan join us?"

"I'm not sure. He's constantly having to babysit that False Warden. I cannot believe it's taken us this long to realize that Kalim was holding us back with all his partying. We should have continued with the plan our Sultan created before his Overblot."

"While we cannot take back our transgressions against our Sultan, we can show him our unwavering devotion to him and his Diamond."

That's when Jamil stepped from the shadows, "What is going on here?" He spoke, gaining the attention of everyone.

"Our Sultan!" The Crowd spoke in unison before bowing to Jamil, who looked at them with confusion. One of them, who wore robes similar to the Sorcerer's Parrot, walked up to Jamil with the Staff Replica in his hand, offering it to Jamil with a bowed head.

"Your Staff, My Sultan."

Jamil looked at it before taking it into his hand, looking upon the crowd of people worshipping him before his eyes trailed towards the throne. He took one step towards it and another, causing everyone to move out of his way until he was before it. He started it it, a Sutlan Throne with Snakes instead of Elephants. Jamil sat upon it before tapping the staff on the ground twice to gain everyone's attention.

"Enough. Raise your heads." He demanded.

"My Sultan. We have prepared curry tonight. Will that be enough for you?"

"Let me get you a drink, My Sorcerer!"

"Will your Diamond be joining us as well, Sorcerer Jamil?"

"Halt." Jamil said as he raised his hand to silence them before lowering it back on the armrest, "Curry is perfect. Yes, I would like a drink. As for my Diamond, they are far too busy at the moment to join us. The Headmage takes their time with...nonense."

"That he does..."

"Our Sultan is so wise."

"Shall we aid Your Diamond with anything?"

"To aid my diamond, continue to aid me so that I may spend more time with them."

"As you wish, My Sultan." Everyone bowed before going to make Jamil's Food and Drink.

Jamil just sat there on his throne.

A Throne that he earned.

With people who were devoted to him.

All because of his Diamond.

Ava's Demon, Book 2: Aftermath by Michelle Fus - blurrypetals review

God, did Michelle step up her game between chapters 16 and 17 of this.

I'll never forget the amount of fangirling I did over this section of the comic as it came out. Getting to see the main 4 characters and their demons all interact the way they do in this book is so gratifying after such a long time leading up to it.

In specific, it's wonderful to see Ava and Odin connecting after most of the characters are, in some way, so hostile to one another for so much of the story. Their blossoming friendship is so sweet to see, makes me love them as characters even more than before, if possible.

And god, the art. Every detail, every texture, every facial expression is just...absolute chef's kiss. Everything looks so soft yet so sharp in detail, and the characters' faces are more consistent, more defined.

This is just contains so much improvement, so much growth. I only wish it had a more interesting action set piece after Book 1's explosive ending, but that's just me nitpicking. The overall quality of this book's contents just blow Book 1's out of the water. I can't wait to get all caught up again to see more!

Ava's Demon, Book 1: Reborn by Michelle Fus - blurrypetals review

I genuinely can't believe I don't have some kind of review for this series on my Goodreads! I've loved Ava's Demon for what feels like an entire age. I love Michelle's art and want to be her when I grow up.

I had the comic on the brain for the first time in a while the other day and realized I had, A, a good handful of new chapters on the webcomic I hadn't read and B, I'd never read the new Skybound editions of the books I got from Kickstarter, so it was time to refresh my memory with my umpteenth reread!

First and foremost here is Michelle's art. Her style, her character designs, the level of detail in every last panel, down to every panel she's redrawn (and redrawn and redrawn, considering she's published this a couple of times now)...it's all immaculate. I'll never get over just how lovely and soft her coloring is. It's also been wonderful to watch her art evolve over the last decade and a half, watching the characters' appearances shift into clearer, sharper versions of themselves as time goes on.

It really is wild to look back at a book like this and see several years' worth of posts and updates compressed into just one book. I remember having to wait months between some panels, so watching it all go by in one afternoon was a trip.

I've always loved this portion of the story and, while much of it is nostalgia, just as much of it is Michelle's talent for writing. The way this story is built up and laid out is so brilliant, intriguing, and unique, and the point this book ends at is literally and figuratively explosive. I love the way this raises the stakes and I'll never forget the horror I felt when I first read it back in the day.

It goes without saying but I love this story, I love these characters, and I love the art that's used to tell us all about this world, the people that inhabit it, and their stories. I'm excited to reread everything in Book 2 and can't wait to get to those new chapters online!

So, a while ago I showed Ava’s Demon to my friend Conor and he noticed that ~99% of the shots of Ava during chapters 15-17 featured a halo encircling her head, of all things. I found it rather curious, given as the imagery presented from Ava then was anything but angelic. Then Conor told me that halos aren’t necessarily limited to the influence/enlightenment of the divine: they were used to depict power and magnificence (both of which Ava now has in abundance) even before the rise of Christianity. Then again, this can be interpreted both ways, as Odin refers to Wrathia as a goddess later on in the story. Just a neat little detail that I wanted to share!
