[Update] Blog Activity / Auto Theme Mode

The Blog Activity is now supported. Activity buttons have been added to the 'My Blogs' list in the left user menu.

Added an Automatic Theme Mode option that follows the iOS system setting. Supported on iOS 17 and later.

And minor improvements and bug fixes.

PS. 2025-04-05. We released another bug fix version, 7.9.3, which contains some minor bug fixes.

[Update] Community Supported

New 'My Communities' section at the left user menu, below the 'My Blogs' section.

You can use the community feed as any other blog feed. You can add it to a FeedSet, create a filter on community feed.

'Browse Communities by Tags' feature will help you to discover new communities.

New option to specify the posting blog for Quick Reblog: either the last used blog(default) or a specified blog. This allows users to always quick reblog to a specific blog/community, which is helpful for those with many blogs and communities.

Additional options to reduce community spam posts. It's at the Feed Settings and enabled at default.

Unfortunately, some community features, such as moderation mode, are not provided.

Resolved an issue with incorrect formatting(bold/italic...) of text with emojis when posting.

PS. 2025-02-27. There was another bug fix release, version 7.9.1, addresses an issue where text overlapped during posting.

[Update] Detail/Grid/Media Control

Detail/Grid/Media Control: New display mode selection method. You can directly change display mode using this control at the tab menu. Grid/Media mode is the same as the previous 'All Photos' option. This was previously in the grid layout settings, but it has been reorganized for easier use.

Grid mode on iPad supports both square and flexible layouts.(Default is changed to square.)

Only iOS 13 and later versions are supported. iOS 12 is no longer supported. Additionally, support for 3D Touch is being discontinued.

[Update] Minor Changes

Like Post When Download: You can download and like media at the same time with this option. Located at the media download section in Settings->Display(need some scroll). Only applied when using 'Save Image', 'Download Video' menu. It will be not applied for batch download or saving via 'Share Image' menu.

[Update] New Animation Effect

In this update(version 7.8.3) we revamped the many animations including grid/detail transition, fullscreen presentation and tab manage view. New animation effects are applied to all iOS versions.

Scrolling performance enhanced in detail mode.

We have a long list of improvements and bug fixes in this update(version 7.8.0).

Support iOS 17.

Fix the 'Liked Posts' bug that some posts were missing during pagination.

Fix the crash when selecting 'Open the Post Reblogged' menu.

Fix the emoji text formatting bug.

Video Posting is supported(at long last).

Post Notes: separated by Comment/Reblog/Like. The comment section includes reply and reblog with text.(BTW, the notes view is not exactly the same with the official Tumblr app. Not enough Tumblr API support yet. And sometimes, the comment section may include reblog/like if no comment exists.)

The feed menu button of the current tab is re-designed.

'Tag Search in this Blog' menu supports multiple tags delimited by Comma. It will search posts containing all the tags.

The list popup supports the 'Swipe Down' gesture on the navigation bar. When swiped down, it will be pinned to the bottom left or closed. For example, following blogs or post notes support this gesture.

Restore home screen quick action features.(It was accidently removed).

The default action for Hold Gesture on Post in Grid Mode is changed to Menu (from Like). You change this option at the Settings->Gestures.

The OAuth 2.0 is supported. But there are bugs when signing with Google/Apple in OAuth2.0 Tumblr API. So, the default method is still 1.0a. You can change this option at the 'Manage Accounts'.

iOS 12 or later is supported from this version.

PS. There was a minor bug fixing update(version 7.8.1) at 2023-10-18.

PS. Another minor update with some animation refinements on iOS 17 and scroll performance tweaks (version 7.8.2 at 2023-11-05).

[Update] Theme Mode Free, Line Spacing Options

Theme Mode goes free. In terms of accessibility, it would be right to make it usable by all users. We will be grateful for the generous banner clicks.

Text Line Spacing: You can change line spacing for post text in detail mode at Settings->Display.

Refresh Manually When the Tab Changes. You can prevent automatic refresh for the outdated feed tab. This setting is only for Dashboard, Trending Posts. Blog tabs are not applied due to API limitations. It’s at Settings->Feed.

[Update] Shuffle Slideshow, Price Increase

Shuffle slideshow: prefetching the feed tab and randomize slideshow. This feature supports on any feed tab: blogs, feedsets and filters of any feed. You can start at the tab action menu(more action button at the right side of tab menu) or by holding on fullscreen image. This requires paid subscription.

Add 'Go to Bottom' option to 'Holding on Current Tab' gesture. You can set at Settings-> Tab Settings.

Fix the tag editing bug on iPad.

Many improvements and bug fixes.

And the subscription price will be raised. As you may know, things are not going well for our MultiTab apps. Due to the API policy change of Twitter and Reddit, the Twitter app has been shut down, and the Reddit app is also increasingly in trouble. In order for us to continue development, we inevitably had to increase the price. We are raising the annual subscription price by $1 (effectively $5.99). This increase applies to everyone, including existing subscribers. Thank you for your support, and hope you understand this change.

[Notice] Goodbye to Twitter

Today I was shocked to hear the news of Twitter's api policy change. It was announced on 3/30, but I saw it late. Under the new policy, developers must subscribe to the enterprice tier to run commercial apps, which costs at least $42,000 per month. This price range is absolutely beyond our reach. In this situation, we would no longer be able to service our 'MultiTab for Twitter' app.

Previously, as Twitter announced api v2, there were paid tiers of Essential and Elevated, and we thought we would be able to continue the service. However, the policy announced on 3/30 eliminates all of these intermediate tiers, leaving only a basic tier for hobbyists or students and an enterprise tier for paid services. This means that maybe all paid apps will no longer be able to continue.

We are very sorry to give you such bad news, and our app will probably only work until 4/29.(Twitter says it will shut down access after that.) From 4/12(the earliest possible day), we will change all subscription prices of our Twitter app to the lowest level. If you've subscribed in the last 14 days, you can apply for a refund in the App Store, but unfortunately, we won't be able to issue refunds directly to anyone who subscribed before that. I'm sorry for this and I hope you think it's support for us.

This update(version 7.6.0) includes better support for iOS 16. In particular, the text display has been further optimized.

Poll post format is supported.(Display only. Vote at Tumblr app.)

Checkmark is supported. You can turn it off in Display Settings.

[Update] New Post View (fixed)

This(version 7.5.0) is the biggest update in recent year: new post view, posting editor and design improvements. Tumblr Neue Post Format (NPF) is now fully supported.

Tumblr is in the process of introducing a new post format and editor. This new format, called NPF(Neue Post Format), was introduced a few years ago to integrate mobile and web, and is now nearing completion. So far, we have only partially supported it at the viewer part, but from this version on, the new format is fully supported from post creation to viewer.

Posting editor redesigned.

Post view redesigned: you can expect similar structure with the Tumblr official app.

Grid design enhancement provides a better looking grid layout.

Each feed tab remembers the last change of grid layout.

[Update] Slideshow Improvements

The version 7.4.0 has been just released.

Slideshow can include video. Configurable at Settings. When you start slideshow by long-pressing on fullscreen image, you can choose whether to include video or not. Many video features(such as double tap the side to seek) still works on slideshow.

Slideshow: Ken Burns transition effect improved. Keyboard shortcut ‘Space’ or 'V’ to pause slideshow.

Video: playing time indicator added at the right top corner. You can change options at Settings to show playing time always for slideshow.

Video: sound mute button bug fixed. Sometimes it does not display correctly. Fullscreen video has a separate mute setting. It defaults to unmuted. It means that you will hear the sound when going to fullscreen.

And many more improvements and bug fixes.

PS. There's a quick bug fixing update(v7.4.1) today(2022-05-04). This will fix the flickering when the gif image goes fullscreen.
