frankie’s breath hitches in their throat; they didn’t know the last time that they had been this close to andi in a way that didn’t seem just platonic. things felt different. their heart beats rapidly upon hearing the other’s words. neither could i. it was as if they – andi and frankie – were the only two people in the world. and all that mattered was them, together, here and now. frankie leans in even more; they can practically taste the scent of her cherry slurpee on her breath –

frankie jumped at the sudden noise. “right,” they say breathily, gaze following andi as she checks her phone. they let out a sigh of relief; they were worried something had happened. “you don’t have to apologize,” frankie states, rolling over so their eyes meet once again. “i’m glad they’re okay.” then, running a hand through andi’s hair and down to caress her cheek, frankie states openly and honestly: “they’re lucky to have you.” they lean forward until their foreheads are touching and frankie can feel andi’s hair tickling their face. “i’m lucky to have you, andi.” and with that, frankie cups andi’s cheeks in their hands and kisses her as if nothing else in the world mattered. (and it didn’t. because all that mattered was andi and frankie. together. always.)

Andi closed her eyes in content at the feeling of their fingers running through their hair. She leaned her cheek into her hand as she looked into Frankie’s eyes. They were one of the only people to truly see every side of Andi, especially the one in which she took care of her family. Just as she was going to tell Frankie just how lucky she was to have them too, their lips were placed upon hers. Andi kissed Frankie back passionately as she wrapped her arms around their neck. The feeling of her lips on theres was like no other. It was as if time froze and fireworks were going off like they’d been in a movie. She just barely pulled away, her lips still lingering over hers as she looked up into Frankie’s eyes with a smile on her face. Andi touched her nose to theirs and let out a sigh of content, “Wow.” She whispered, before leaning in to kiss them again.

frankie felt their heart beating rapidly in their chest. andi and them were so close, frankie wondered if she could feel it, too. they didn’t really believe in marriage, due to the shaky relationship their parents had growing up (perfect on the outside, yelling and emotional abuse behind closed doors), but if they were to get married, frankie couldn’t imagine marrying anyone other than andi. the pair were the best of friends, could make each other laugh about the stupidest things, knew exactly what to do to cheer the other up, and most importantly – told each other just about everything. there were no secrets between them. well, except maybe one. and this one was probably the biggest secret frankie had ever kept from andi. and the truth was – frankie had been in love with her since a month after they’d met. 

“i couldn’t imagine being here with anyone else other than you,” they murmur, eyes fluttering between closed and open. their forwards were already touching, and slowly, frankie starts to lean in until their lips are a mere millimeters away. 

Andi smiled, her heart rate increasing as their faces moved closer. Are we really about to kiss? It felt like a dream come true. Andi’s hand moved from Frankie’s back to slowly trailing up towards their neck. She gently wrapped her finger around a lock of their light brown hair, while twisting it around. She looks up into their eyes, then to their lips and back up again. “Neither could I.” She said softly, as her lips moved closer to Frankie’s. This moment didn’t feel real – Sure the pair were touchy and flirtatious at times, but she never thought Frankie could actually feel the same way towards her. Now, it all seemed to make sense. 

Just as their lips were about to collide, a familiar ringtone snapped Andi out of her trance. She wanted to ignore it more than anything right now, but it could’ve been bad – she’s had too many phone calls from the police regarding her mom. “I-I should probably see who it is..” Andi stuttered nervously, before shamelessly propping herself off the bed and walking over to her phone.  “Seriously?” She groaned as she saw a random number on the screen. Andi declined the call and returned to her spot next to Frankie, “I’m sorry, I just – I never know.. My family just makes me worried all the damn time.” She sighed before looking into their eyes. Andi wanted this so bad, but she didn’t know if the moment was lost.

“okay, i just can’t promise that i’m not going to fall asleep,” frankie states, humming in content as andi rubbed their back. “that feels really good,” they admit, closing their eyes and enjoying her company. “you’re my favorite person in the world, do you know that?” they ask seriously. and it was very true. there’s no one in the world that frankie loved and trusted more than their best friend and probably the love of their life. “i love you,” they say honestly, leaving it open-ended as to whether this was platonic love or more than that. frankie tilts their head so they meet andi’s eyes; hers are a beautiful deep chocolate brown color, and frankie could get lost in them so easily. 

Honestly, cuddling with Frankie or having a sleepover with them was always the key to making Andi fall asleep instantly. She was so comfortable and content being in their arms for the night that it was just so easy. Frankie made her so happy and all of her stress and worry seemed to disappear in their presence. She smiled endearingly when they asked that question, “You’re my favorite person too, Frankie.” It was true. With all the hardships Andi has gone through in her life, the one to make everything better was them. She couldn’t imagine a life where Frankie wasn’t in it. Their slurpee runs, the inside jokes, sleepovers, the way they got along with her younger siblings – It was a dream come true. They were the one. When Andi heard those three words, her heart skipped a beat. Sure, they were best friends who said I love you all the time, but this time felt different. Maybe she was too in over her head. Nevertheless, “I love you too.” escaped Andi’s lips. She looks into their eyes while biting her bottom lip softly.

frankie caught the sweatshirt and slipped it on over their head. shamelessly, frankie tucks their nose inside it and inhales the familiar scent of andi’s shampoo. “coming!” they roll over until they’re in andi’s arms. they nestle their head into andi’s neck, breathing in the scent they love so much. (just one of many things they love about andi.) “do we want to watch something or just snuggle?” they ask, their voice muffled. 

Andi smiled in awe and Frankie in her hoodie. She softly rubbed their back and closed her eyes. “We can snuggle for a bit,” Andi replied, as she moved her body closer to theirs. Being with Frankie was already one of the best feelings in the world, but snuggling with them and being so close was completely different – In the best way possible. She let out a content sigh, enjoying the silence and Frankie’s presence both at once.

frankie followed andi blindly as they got off the bus, walked to the apartment complex, and up the elevator. they murmured a quick word of thanks before heading inside. the sight of the brunette’s room was familiar, and they immediately jumped onto the bed, settling onto their side. spotting their hoodie, they held it up to show it to andi with a smug grin on their face. “hey, this looks familiar,” they tease their friend. a moment of silence. “well, if you have one of my hoodies, can i borrow one of yours? i’m kinda chilly.” they bite their lower lip, “and i wouldn’t say no to some cuddling, too.” 

Andi giggled while grabbing Frankie’s hoodie and putting it on. “Of course you can.” She walked over to her dresser, opening up a drawer and retrieving a black hoodie. Andi playfully threw it at them before crawling back onto the bed and getting under the blanket. “Come here then!” She smiled while opening her arms, waiting to wrap them around Frankie.

frankie’s gaze glances downwards to their hands intertwined; they smile at the gentle squeeze and felt a shiver run down their spine as andi caressed their hand. “well, i can’t say no to that,” they reply with a small chuckle.

looking up at the marquee, frankie announces, “oh, our stop is next. you ready to go?” they give andi’s hand a squeeze back.

Andi followed Frankie’s gaze up to the marquee, before nodding and smiling at them. She got up and followed them out of the bus, to which the pair walked down the street and to the apartment complex. Upon walking in, they entered the elevator and Andi clicked button 4. “So, what are you thinking we should eat later?” She smiled up at them before reaching into her bag to retrieve her keys. She unlocked the door and held it open for Frankie. 

The brunette led Frankie into her room, (which lets be real, might as well be Frankie’s too), before plopping herself down on the bed. She looked over and noticed Frankie’s hoodie by her pillow and her cheeks turned red. Andi totally hadn’t been wearing it to bed the night before because she missed her crush best friend. Nevertheless, she motioned Frankie to sit beside her.

frankie has a car of their own, but it breaks down constantly and is always in need of some kind of repair. hence, they prefer to utilize public transportation (especially while they still have a discount for being a student). “you’ve got that right,” they reply. “and our story today starts right here, right now.” frankie gives her an excited smile. “aww, i’m sorry. that’s on me for choosing for you. here, why don’t you have some of mine? we can switch off.” and with that, frankie offers her their drink. 

chuckling a bit, they gladly let andi have the window seat. “you’re so cute,” they say before they can catch themself. owning up to it, though, frankie gives the other a half smile. has she always been this beautiful? frankie blinks. yes, yes she has. “i know it’s probably been less than 24 hours, but i missed you,” they admit, reaching out to grab the girl’s hand. what could be a platonic move meant a lot more than that to frankie. 

Once Andi sat down, she felt her heart skip a beat as a swarm of butterflies inhabited her stomach. She looked down and let out a quiet giggle while covering her face slightly. ‘You’re so cute' played on repeat in her head for a few seconds before Frankie snapped her out of her trance. Andi’s head shot up and she looked over at them with an endearing smile, “I missed you too, Frankie,” she blushed when they grabbed her hand and she gave it a gentle squeeze, “Well now we have the rest of the day together. We should order food and watch a movie or something!” Andi suggested with a grin on her face. She rubbed her thumb on the top of their hand as she traced small circles.

frankie felt their cheek get warm at the other’s touch (even if it was just their shoulders). andi sure had a way of bringing out the vulnerable side of them. “be careful what you say there, khan,” frankie teases the girl, giving her a wink just to let her know that they’re kidding. “y’know what? i actually like taking the bus. i get to people watch and literally not have to do anything other than pay attention to what stop i get off at.” they chuckle. “it’s a win-win, really.”

they walk to the bus stop, happily sipping their slurpees and bumping into each other playfully. frankie’s not upset about that part; they’d take any excuse to be closer to andi. they sit down on the bench, and frankie steals a glance at andi. there’s a moment of silence, and they clear their throat. “sooo, how’s your slurpee?” 

The girl let out a laugh, “That’s so true. I don’t mind it either, I mean I’m so used to it by now.” Andi didn’t have her own car and basically relied on any means of public transportation. “Taking the bus also makes for great stories.” She blushed as a smile danced upon her lips; the smallest of touches exchanged with Frankie made her feel warm and happy inside. Andi took another sip of her slurpee before looking at them, “It’s good,” she giggled, “I kind of wish I got blue raspberry now, though.” The bus then arrived and Andi hopped on first. She picked the last two seater in the right aisle. “I call window seat!”

“That's great!” Andi smiled at her as they walked to the restaurant. Even if her heart (and stomach) were yearning for an oat milk latte and vegan food, she couldn’t seem to get the message out of her head – you know, the one threatening to expose everyone’s secrets and all. “So.. did you see that text, too? The messed up, creepy one?” the brunette approached the door and held it open for Kennedy.

“so am i.” she smiles back also putting her stuff in her bookbag then hears what she said t other. “Classes are great i’m learning a lot and it’s fun being a fashion major so far.” Kennedy said to her she did love fashion growing up so taking the class was a no brainier and she also would walk with Andi to the restaurant.

frankie gives their friend a slight smile in thanks as they head into the store. “just a lucky guess,” they play along, giving their friend a fond look. she really is one-of-a-kind. waiting for andi to finish, frankie grabs a large cup (hey, all sizes are $1 - she has to take advantage of that!) and surveys her options. they fill up half the cup with blue raspberry, a dollop of cherry (”have to change things up every once in a while”), and the rest of it blue raspberry. “that sounds like fun!” then, adding with a waggle of their eyebrows, “oooo – no one’s home, you say? that could be d a n g e r o u s.” frankie then bursts into a fit of giggles.

Andi let out a giggle as she watched Frankie mix both flavors. Even if it wasn’t strange to do, she admired their silliness and enthusiasm more than anything. Frankie could do the smallest thing and it would make Andi’s day brighter. She then scoffed and rolled her eyes as she playfully pushed their shoulder, “Yeah, it’ll be dangerous alright. Maybe I’m the one who sent that creepy message. You never know.” Andi teased, before her demeanor quickly turned serious, “But i’m kidding, obviously.” After their slurpees were paid for, thanks to Frankie, they walked out of the store. “There should be a bus coming soon, or we could get an uber to the apartment if you wanna be fancy.” She grinned.

“Thank god, I’m starving.” She smiled, before gathering her belongings and fitting them into her bookbag. “So, how are classes? I always wondered how being a fashion major is.” She inquired. Andi loved clothing and fashion but she didn’t think she could have the skills to design clothes – That required serious talent. Andi got up from the table and began walking to the restaurant with Kennedy. 

Kennedy would gives her a smile back it was getting pretty boring right now and she did have time to something. “It’s not easy trying to figure out to do when you have nothing to do.” she said. “I’m down to go check out this new vegan restaurant with you.”

“that’s my favorite kind of answer,” they responded, bumping their hips with the brunette’s. their walk to the gas station was rather pleasant; the pair discussed their days and what was going on in their classes (of the ones that frankie has gone to this week). “i’m thinking blue raspberry. you’re gonna go for cherry, aren’t you?” frankie grins at the other. this wasn’t their first time getting slurpees together. 

Andi held the door open for Frankie as they walked into the store together. “How did you know?” She asked sarcastically. Frankie was her best friend; of course they knew her go-to slurpee flavor. She approached the drink machine and grabbed a medium size cup before pulling down the lever. When she was finished, she looked over at Frankie. “So, what else are we adding to this day of rebellion?” Andi laughed, “Maybe we could go back to my house? No one’s home right now.” The brunette took a sip of her cherry slurpee.

Andi was finishing typing up the last of her essay. She was relieved that it was almost over, but she knew she wouldn’t have anything to do after as her next class wasn’t until later in the day. “I feel you,” She replied with a smile, “I heard theres a new vegan restaurant in the college town, and I am kind of hungry. Are you down?”

Kennedy is going over some notes for her Fashion Design class it’s been a long day for her and she need something do. “I have been at this all day it’s time for me to take a break but what should i do know do you have any ideas?” she asked the person next to her.
