The same cheerful grin that used to sit on her lips when she was alive is still present on her lips, and she greets the other with a small nod. She heard about her successor, she knew what she was looking for. 

“ I though you might use some guidance, I’ve spent quite some time in the spirit world. “ 

She hesitates, turns a inquisitive gaze to the other before turning away. A shadow crosses her face, but it soon disappears. 

“ Or a friendly face, if you prefer. I – I’m afraid you won’t find many, in here. “ 

once the initial shock has passed ( and, somewhat, the awkward feeling that comes with looking at your past self ), chiharu is quick to smile, taking the last few steps that kept her and the past avatar separated. wait ‘til root heard about this, oh man.

“one friendly face is better than none, right? and I really could use your help.” the new avatar assures, smile bright. “see, there’s a spirit. sorta looks like if an air bison and a dragon had a child - anyways, they’re hurt, and they said there’s a special herb in the spirit world that can heal a spirit’s wounds. have you heard of it before? truth is, i’m not very good at the whole...spirit thing.”

perhaps chiharu should have expected it. she was in the spirit world after all, searching for an item that could help a spirit, alone and in pain, that chiharu had come across. she had never been very good at anything related to spirits - and with her predecessor being the one to reconnect the two worlds and defeat the dark spirit ten thousand years after the first avatar, well...that certainly put the pressure on. 

the mission is forgotten in that moment as she stares at the other in disbelief. avatar korra. here. “I - didn’t expect to ever see you.”

     Robin paused, pulling her lower lip between her teeth with a hum. As she always did, the mother simply put either of her children in Parker’s position: and as much as they probably didn’t want her to, she couldn’t help but … agree, at first, with Marlon.

     Robin was busy, not blind, and she knew Abby - and Sebastian, sometimes - were as afraid of the dark as they were each other. The tiny trinkets that she caught glimpses of peppering Sebastian’s room and the tales Abby spun about this or that creature told her enough about what lurked below the surface.

     “It would be silly of Marlon to stop you,” she said. “Or me to stop Maru from tinkering, or - Sebastian from driving his bike. We’ve all got something dangerous we’re pulled to. Saying no is just a safety blanket for him.”

     It was easier to hope that they listened than to worry if she let them do what they wanted. Robin crossed her arms, pushing loose hair behind her ear.

     “Maybe - he could go with you? Or - someone could? It might make him feel better if you’re not going it alone.”

maybe he could go with you. 

it’s not a bad idea. most of parker’s childhood had involved the mines, either going into them, safe in their dad’s shadow, or waiting outside ‘til the dead of night, barely awake, being scooped up by strong arms and nestled into the warmth of a thick cloak. all those memories had been the deciding factor in parker’s decision to become an adventurer.

“it’s not like I haven’t been in the mines before, y’know? I’m in them all the time. he’s never stopped me goin’ in those mines but because these are different mines, a way’s out...he’s treatin’ me like I’m a kid again.”

maybe if they’d become a blacksmith instead. there wouldn’t be so much concern. “I just wanna explore. that’s the whole point of bein’ an adventurer, right?”
