     When Nathan heard the knock at the door, he placed the lid over the skillet before making his way to it. This better not be an idiot decision by the new paperboy to try and tick him off. But when he was greeted by Malia,he rose a brow before speaking, “Malia? Everything okay?”

    Nathan wiped his hands on the rag after rising from the engine of the truck he was working on. Simple, busy work. But then he saw a figure and slowly shook his head, “Sorry, not entertaining today.” he mumbled.

Declan all but crumbled in his father’s embrace, sighing at the response. “Please just do whatever you have to I can’t.. I don’t think I could live with myself if I hurt an innocent person because of this. Dad you have to promise. You’ll stop me, whatever means necessary.”

      “You know we wouldn’t let you hurt anyone.” Nathan said sternly.

Taking in a shaky breath, Declan let it out slowly in an attempt to calm himself down.. There was no one on Earth Declan trusted more than his father, and if Nathan said they’d figure it out? He knew they would.. “Will you teach me how to control this? I-I don’t wanna hurt anyone.”

     Nathan couldn’t help but wrap his son in his arms. “I can try...but I haven’t trained anyone since Cora .”

Kass raised an eyebrow. “Okay first of all, I’m not a kid. I’m nineteen. Second of all, why not? How is what I do different than what you do?”

     “Hey, everyone is a kid to me.” Nathan responded, “And I don’t train anyone anymore.”

As Nathan’s voice deepened the golden hue in Declan’s gaze faded, head falling forward as he instead stared at his feet. “I-I don’t know.. I was walking home when something attacked me. They were gone before I woke up.”

    He took a deep breath. “We’ll figure this out, okay?”
