I wish alterhuman and nonhuman identities were taken seriously. I want literally any good representation in media, I want people to realize we're not just kids playing pretend, I don't want to be seen as something to laugh at, I want to be able to come out to my family, I want to see documentaries and news articles about us that don't boil down to "wow haha look at these weirdos" or "stupid liberals want litterboxes in schools"

Am I the only one who prefers ‘Alterhuman’ over ‘Therian’? Absolutely NO HATE to those that use that label, I just feel like it’s not really.. me? Even though I technically ‘qualify’ as a Therian. (Canadian lynx, I believe, still figuring it out)

Someone shared an Instagram post from a nature photographer who claimed that “the single biggest you can do to support them [killer whales] is to NOT visit marine parks like Sea World which are responsible for so much death, detection, and misinformation” (direct quote by the way, emphasis added).
Whether or not you’re personally comfortable with killer whales in captivity, if you genuinely think (and share with others on your platform) that the SINGLE BIGGEST thing you can do to support wild orcas is to simply not visit a park (a literal non-action), then you are the one peddling “misinformation.”
Cutting back on single use plastic, purchasing sustainably sourced seafood, and electing governmental officials who support environmental protection may be incredibly small actions in the grand scheme of things, but they’re at least more meaningful for aiding wild orca populations than boycotting a park which hasn’t collected whales in 40-plus years.

raccoon therians, PLEASE stop abbreviating raccoon to coon. THAT IS A SLUR, coming from a black alterhuman, its always really scary to see that esp bc of how white centered alterhuman communities are

Seeing quadrobics videos makes me so sad because I want to walk on all fours and run like a snow leopard, but I have a physical disability that makes even walking difficult for me.

what if the feeling of being nonhuman isn't because i'm fundamentally nonhuman but because the experience of being aro/ace/neurodivergent/any other label makes me feel "off" from everyone else?

while i do appreciate non-'kin and non-therian trying to make positive posts about/that include us, it rubs me such the wrong way when it ends up just being a "its okay to do this childish thing" like. from posts that are like "let teenagers be teenagers" to "its okay if you're an adult but do this."
and like, im not confusing posts that are trying to say "this is not something that is childish even though it is sometimes viewed as such, keep doing your thing." i mean that there are posts out there trying to be positive posts and end up further adding to the idea/concept that our identity is a weird, childish thing. i understand the point is to say these things are okay, and i do seriously appreciate people outside of our communities trying to support us, but i wish people would be a little more mindful about how they go about it. like, yes, do encourage people to do what they want, including things that are often seen as childish behavior, but dont try to continue to add to the idea that theriantrophy, otherkindity, fictionkinity, etc. is "childish but okay." its not childish, period.

I HAD TWO OF THOSE TOYS AS A KID!! Theyre both out of battery now and likely have been thrown out... but they were rlly fun to play with tho!
New recommendation for aquatic animals: robotic fish
I got this wee robot fish the other day, and I decided to bring it swimming with me. It was so fun! I tried all these different methods to catch it. I liked herding it like a norwegian orca. I found pushing it to the bottom of the tank or a corner of the tank cornered it so it was easier to catch.
I will definitely be getting more, hopefully bigger, fish and other animals in the future
