Well we were the first patrons of the #moogseum today. What a gem and fanatic museum for Asheville to call it's own. It's always the person that you least expect that changes your perspective about your craft. I remember hanging out for a while trying to get a picture with Dick Dale. I asked if I could get a picture with him. He turned, said yes, and then told me that he was friends with Little Richard. After the photo, we proceeded to sit there and talk about stagecraft. How you should always direct your attention to soloist to help the crowd get into what they are saying musically. He prided himself on being able to work with younger musicians to improve their presences on stage. After that, we talked about spirituality and how Buddhism helped him find peace and the love of his life. I even learned that he once owned a tiger😂. I remember getting home that night and thinking that I couldn't believe that the legendary Dick Dale took so much of his time to have a real conversation with me. Thanks so much for changing my perspective on the world. You truly affected this musician's life. 🔊on. This is the only recording that I've ever played guitar on, and I had the pleasure of having Kofi lay down a ridiculous flute choir on it. Our last conversation was about wanting to do some classical music together. Kofi wanted to have a flute choir show, and I wanted to play some duets with him the next time we linked up. Kofi was like an older brother I never had; the super cool older brother. He never hesitated to pick up the phone when I had questions or just need to gain a new perspective. I would hear stories about NC School of the Arts and how he played in the NC Symphony Orchestra. Some times it was stories about touring with @derekandsusan or cutting up with @oteil_burbridge . We always had a family connection since day one. This one hurts. Kofi taught me to love and respect your art, and love and respect the ones around you. I'm going to miss your energy.
