Earthsea - The First Four Books by Ursula K. Le Guin

what I wanted: a magical modern classic

what I got: a slower fantasy read that I'm used to, but I nice reminder that not everything has to be so fast-paced and full of action

what I thought: There is a sort of "deceleration" (for lack of a better word) to older fantasy novels like this that I had to get used to, but I did quite enjoy these books. Book 4 was very different in tone (much more character-focused and less about an adventure) but that provided a nice balance. Overall, I rate these 4 books 3.5 out of 5 magical talismans.

Tuesday June 17th

Working from my college library today. Also wanted to wish everyone a happy Pride! I am loving all the colourful flowers on campus and the green trees. It makes me feel so hopeful.

I’m waiting for the college registrar to process some paperwork and until that gets done, I can’t enrol in courses for this coming year or apply for student loans. I’m stressed about it, and hoping things get moving soon. The greenery around campus is helping to calm me, and I appreciate it.

behold! by Endurance we sit comfortably, or something

based on That One Photo by Frank Hurley, which I am obsessed with, this has been my main project this year. it's doubleknit, so theoretically reversible, although the seaming means that one side is much neater than the other. it was a stash yarn project, including 100g of sock yarn from a shop in Bergen (the blue) and 100g of handspun sockish yarn from Tormisdale Croft on Islay (the grey), so about as far from Antarctica as it's possible to buy yarn 😅

Pattern is the Illusion vest by EMRKNITS, i modified it to have a more boxy fit.

I used the Heritage 6 yarn by CascadeYarns

Took a month to complete, started it on January 15th, finished it on February 15th!

I started studying the basics of philosophy. I am currently reading A Brief History of Thought: A Philosophical Guide to Living by Luc Ferry, and it's pretty good for beginners! ​​
