I got hit by a train of inspiration for a Palletshipping supernatural AU~<3 *u* And since most would expect a snob vampire Gary and rugged werewolf Ash, I switched it around and give you a snob werewolf Gary and rugged vampire Ash instead :D

When do you think Gary quit being an assistant in Sinnoh? Around the time Ash was in Kalos maybe?

Hmm, I am not sure, but it sounds like it's been at least a while since. I think he might have stopped during XY indeed, and then worked around onto new projects while SM was happening. He seems like a type that won't stay in one place for too long, hence I think being a freelancer would be perfect for him indeed~

Yeah, there's rumors about Ash leaving each series, but people are feeling it a LOT more with this one, especially with how he's currently being written. (Plus, his goal this time is to beat the strongest trainer in the world; if he accomplishes that, I'm not sure how they'd continue his character from there without completely rebooting him. Most would rather he 'leave' on a high note.) And their objective of bringing back old characters in some way is probably another reason for that feeling.

Ash has always had the goal of becoming the best and beating the strongest, so I don't see why he would pull it off this time either. He keeps working on it with each season. When XY was ending, people were feeling so strongly that Ash was gonna retire as protag, but it didn't happen. I think they'll rather drop the current anime altogether and start with a completely new universe, than replace Ash~

Idk if you had a chance to watch the newest episode where Gary finally appears but omg!!!! I’m curious to know your thoughts on it when you’re able to see it, let me just say I’m loving the new design with the HGSS outfit!

Sorry for the late reply, it took me time to get to sit down and watch the new episode!<3 It's so good to see Gary back!! I have put my thoughts under readmore, wrote them down while watching the episode.

-AAAAhhhh, Ash’s old Pokémon!! Immediately fills me with fluffy feels ;3; All of them are always so happy to see him!

-Gou is so cute when he’s waiting for Pidgeotto to get captured, hahaha! We all know that feeling indeed. I’m not familiar with the season, so I’m guessing he doesn’t want to battle Pokémon? He captures them with just the balls?

-Idk if it’s the style of this season, or what, but I noticed there’s constantly lot of high-pitched yelling and action going on?? Maybe it’s because I’m not a kid anymore, but I find this type of humor rather tiring, lmao.

-BLASTY!!! I’m so glad they’re finally giving Gary’s starter the spotlight he deserves!<3

-GARYYYYYYYYY, YOU MADE US WAIT FOR 12 YEARS!!! He’s so handsome boy, and omg he still sounds exactly the same ;w; And ofc Ash recognizes him immediately before even seeing him<3

-Although I always wish they’d give Gary his own clothing, he does look so good in Green’s HGSS outfit<33

-I LOVE that Gary is a traveling researcher now, I always thought him sticking in a lab and becoming a professor wasn’t really his style for future. I HC him as a freelance researcher as adult, who works in different places, and I’m so happy to see canon following that idea!

-Gary immediately spotting Gou like “OH ARENT U GONNA INTRODUCE ME TO YOUR NEW FRIEND HERE SO I CAN SEE IF HE’S WORTHY OF U?~” Why does this feel like meeting your ex and introducing them to your current partner lmao

-Gary’s so good with pokémon, it’s so sweet ;0; He’s much more than just a “cool bully” people made him be over the years.

-I LOVEEEE that Gary is introduced as childhood friend as well<33 And the flashbacks are so cuuuteeee! New audience has no idea who he is, so they must feel quite confused though, haha! Time to watch the OG series, kids!

-Ash and Gary immediately going back to their comfortable space and friendship as if it hasn’t been so long since they last met~ (Poor Gou thridwheeling there though, lmao! Gary knows how to rile people up hahaha)

-Look at Gary climbing up walls like a pro, this is why I never agreed to the “Gary is a weak nerd researcher” ideas, since he travels a lot and thus must be in good shape! He also seems like a person who wants to keep himself in good health as well.

-Look at these kids casually encountering a legendary pokémon :D Also doesnt this basically make the 2nd movie non-canon? Then again, the show has always had different take on the legendaries, lmao (that baby Lugia, what :D) The movies have always felt separate and non-canon to the shows so nothing new with this.

-LOOK AT GARY BATTLING LIKE THE PRO HE IS, he’s still got it~ I love how he’s fast and strategic, that’s mah boy<3

-Oh wait, Gou does do battles lol

-I love how it took all three of them to take down the legendary pokémon, it shouldn’t be easy task anyway

-I have no idea if these trial mission things are smth from the games and I don’t care, when I can focus on Gary and Ash holding hands so long and even rubbing them like WOW YEAH, NO HOMO RIGHT?~~ :D Aaaahhh, I missed them, they’re still so close and comfortable with each other!

-I love the reverse psychology Gary is using on Gou to make Gou push forward, he is such a great people-reader haha! The show is showing how they are similiar with their goals even if they are so different persons.

-This episode was really cute!! It was so great to see Gary again, and he’s obviously gonna appear again in future. With the project Mew and such, we can definitely expect to see him few times more! I’m so happy they finally brought him back and made it so good, he’s smart and strong and handsome and still got that wicked glint going hahah

Ash and Gary's chemistry was so good in last week's episode, him being confirmed to reappear in the future means it can build from. By the time Journeys finishes, I'd flip if they actually decide to travel together since Gary is no longer bounded to Sinnoh. (But I can only see that IF Ash gets retired as a main for real)

Ash and Gary traveling together would be like my dream come true, haha! But I really doubt Ash is gonna retire as main character, these rumours always happen with each season and they have never come true. So that dream has to wait :')

Their chemistry is so gooood, I absolutely love how they immediately fell into the comfortable and familiar space with each other<3

(Okay, small info recap on Gary from that magazine:) Still a research assistant in Sinnoh, but is still actively battling and training as to not fall behind Ash. Ash and Gary's relationship is described as "closer than ever" and "considered more friends than rivals now". A 'big brother' role was settled for him by Yuko and Rika. Gary is stated to be "a bit jealous of Ash’s comfy lifestyle right now, but is happy that Ash hasn’t changed". He's gonna give advice to Ash [again], and

Ahh, I’m really glad they stick to the researcher title. I personally don’t see Gary becoming a professor, hence I like to see him as researcher as well. He clearly loves traveling. Also nice that he still battles, I never believed he had completely left battling even if he quit the competitive side of it.

YES, good to see Blastoise with him!~ I also believe he will appear few more times, but even if that didn’t happen I’d still die happily with this one appearance as well :’3

Okay, got more Q&A translations and context: Yuko thinks Gary might be "a sophisticated, yet kind, husband. He's very neat and punctual, so he might want his partner to operate on that same level. But in general, I think he'd be considerate and kind." Ash: "Satoshi is cheerful, kind and reliable, so I think he'll be a good father. I'm sure he'll raise a kind and loving family, but he's a bit of a scatterbrain, so he'll probably get scolded by his partner a lot too (laughs)".

Hahaha, these fits them nicely alright ;D They’re the opposites yet complete each other so well<3 I can see Ash and Pikachu tackling the toilet, that’d be a hilarious cleaning adventure! Ash would want to make sure it’s perfectly clean to impress Gary, but then they drown the toilet in bubbles.

So yeah, to go along with the theme of that poster, there's apparently a Q&A with Yuko about how each of the three boys would be as romantic partners. Waiting for full translations but so far: Ash is considered the most likely to get married [and that his attitude would be infectious to his partner]. Goh is the least likely; I'm guessing because of his background of finding it hard to trust and connect with others. (No word on Gary yet other than "kind and smart; and will always be right" :P)

Well, of course there hasn’t been a separate word on Gary because Ash will get married to him, obviously! ;D

We got some words from Yuko: She said she was excited to play Gary again, she was nervous since it's been 12 years, but when she heard Ash's voice again from his VA, getting back into character wasn't hard. She mentioned Gary having a different air to him this time and wanted to give something else to like about him, and to look forward to feeling his passion towards his goals. (Rica also responded to look forward to the two characters' reunion :D)

Ahh, that sounds interesting! Yeah, must feel bit nervous to voice someone again after 12 years but when you get into it, it comes all back :D Can’t wait for the reunion indeed!!!
