Everyone warns you agaist going to the supermarket hungry, but nobody tells you about the dangers of going there too full: I do not want any of these things, for I will never require any food again at all!

Rating Youth Performances based on how improvised I think they were
RIP Youth, you will always be alive in my memory
btw, I couldn't find any decent videos from Zurich, and for the double dates I only did one night each because I am lazy like that. Maybe this could be the yungi saga pt.3
Tumblr media
Lyon:
First night of the Europe tour. Stakes are high. Mingi goes slightly gayer than expected by caressing Yunho’s face. Yunho smacks his hand away, but it throws him off, so he turns the wrong way and slouches in full “I can’t believe I did that” mode. At the end, Mingi goes in for a hug, but Yunho’s still salty, so he gets a playful get fucked fake slap and walks away, leaving Mingi to throw a heart at the audience.
Improvisation level: 6/10 ( this is actually a 2/10, because Mingi was clearly a man on a mission, but I gave it a +4 because I enjoy watching Yunho get flustered)
Milan
Nothing of note before the last chorus. Mingi seems like he wants to do something, but Yunho (probably on purpose) doesn’t turn around until it’s time for the last chorus. They end it with a heart and Mingi says ti amo.
Improvisation level: 3/10, Mingi definitely looked that up ahead of time. Not very yolo of him
London (not sure which day)
This one was actually adorable. The moment the dance break ends and Mingi’s part starts, Yunho whips his head back dramatically, making Mingi laugh. They hug it out and move on. The song ends and since they already hugged once, they decide to hug again, but since neither wants to be the one to lean in first they do a side hug with their arms fully stretched out like two very attractive slendermen.
Improvisation level: 8/10, mostly because Yunho almost getting whiplash just to make Mingi laugh was pretty enjoyable
Manchester
Again, nothing much happens pre last chorus. At the end, Mingi leans forward, so Yunho thinks they’re going for the spin—but no. Mingi hits him with a heart at a thirty-degree angle, and Yunho retaliates by making him kiss a feather (?).
Improvisation level: 4/10, not very planned, but also kind of weird
Amsterdam
The early stops weren’t remarkable fanservice-wise, but this one stood out. Nothing special pre-last chorus. At the end, Yunho throws a heart and Mingi, bless his heart, doesn’t give a flying fuck. He does his Squid Games impression instead, because, screw fanservice, this is important. Yunho rewards him with a head pat.
Improvisation level: 5/10, because although Mingi probably decided that that was what he wanted to do early on, Yunho didn’t seem to be in the loop
Barcelona
Not much to say here. After the dance break, Yunho throws a heart and Mingi’s like “sure, why not,” and they toss out a few variations. After the final chorus, they go with the classic head spin.
Improvisation level: 2/10, doesn’t seem planned, but it’s pretty standard stuff.
Cologne
Spirits are high.
The dance break ends, and Mingi who after the halfway point of the tour has been on a roll, does something that’s less like traditional fanservice and more akin to slapping your best friend’s ass in public after seeing them in a new pair of jeans. With a watchu gonna do now motherfucker look on his face, he does this whole, slightly sensual, tie/blazer pull. Yunho answers by smacking his hand away and they move on to the last chorus.
Yunho decides that Mingi is too high on life right now and initiates a headspin, Mingi proclaims his love (again), and they end on a heart.
Improvisation level: 9/10, probably the least planned Youth bit
Copenhagen
An iconic performance. Right from the start you can tell they’re both feeling pretty great overall. This is not the case for all of their performances, which is pretty understandable since that’s their job and no matter how much you like your job, it can still be tiring, but here it’s pretty clear they are having fun.
Now this performance happened right on valentine day, so there is not an alternate reality in existence where this performance doesn’t end with Mingi asking Yunho to be his valentine. I know that, you know that and Yunho clearly knew that. What I think Yunho did not expect was for Mingi to go down on one knee, so early on. Maybe he expected it for the ending, but not pre last chorus. And I think the way they both just kind of smile at each other like “hehe, nice” as Yunho pulls him up just goes to show that.
The performance ends, Mingi drops down again, and Yunho, ready this time, takes his hand. Mingi pops the question, and Yunho brings back the Still Here hand kiss as a limited-time event. Mingi earns the slap of approval on the way out.
Improvisation level: 5/10, mostly because they probably agreed on the will you be my valentine part, but both went off script.
Tumblr media
Berlin day one
They’re wearing those '80s office worker fits that I hate again. I honestly can not understand the kpop stylists' obsession with the business casual/ jehovah's witness look. These people have never worked a 9-to-5 and probably never will. Be creative, ffs. Anyway.
After the dance break, they clearly have a plan. Riding the high from the Copenhagen proposal, Mingi takes off his blazer and eyes Yunho. He briefly considers going off script and handing it to him, but ultimately tosses it aside. They move into the last chorus and Yunho takes off his blazer too. Mingi turns, following the script, and lets him drape it over his shoulders.
Was it cute? Yes. Was it planned down to the second? Also yes.
Improvisation level: 0/10
Paris
Another day, another Nanami cosplay from Yunho. They’re visibly hyped during this one. Mingi does the slightly sensual blazer tag again (see: Cologne), and when Yunho hits him with the classic “not this again” shoulder grab, Mingi shoots him a heart. They exchange thank-yous and “I love you”s, throw a few hearts, and wrap it up.
Unrelated note: but when Mingi does something Yunho thinks is cute, he tends to give him a shoulder tap right before the last chorus.
Improvisation level: 4 /10, standard, but solid
Brussels
Yunho, who is in a good mood here, is actually the one to initiate the post dance break fanservice. He does a heart for Mingi (and not for the audience, which is his go to move)  and then snuggles up to him for a couple of seconds while they’re leading up to the last chorus. At the end Mingi rehashes the Copenhagen bit and asks him to be his friend and they do a finger grab to side hug sequence before walking off stage.
Improvisation level: 6 /10, the will you be my friend bit was planned, however I don’t think Mingi expected Yunho to be so touchy post dance break

the fact that they kept trying when they didn't immediately win is taking me out. this was serious business for them.
Yunho and Wooyoung rank #1 in the SBSKPOP x Inkigayo Pepero game gaining the distance 0.5cm after three attempts.
Never EVER underestimate 1) yaoiteez and 2) yunwoo's competitive drive to win

if I had a nickel for every time, ateez mistakenly picked Yunho as the culprit in an escape room type murder mystery content, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's still weird that it happened twice.
It's actually kind of hilarious how fast the rest of ateez turn on him, the moment he's not being super competitive at whatever game they're playing.

I usually am a mingi is cute truther because he is. If he stays in the background of a shot long enough, or if he gets lost in thought, he will start pulling these facial expressions that are just so fucking cute. He also has this air of the youngest child — clearly used to being pampered — which, when you pair it with his face, creates such a stark contrast that it makes you squint.
The only member who calls him cute, however, is Yunho. The other members don't call him princess Mingki, nor do they push it unless Yunho starts it. Even Mingi, who acknowledges the nickname, does very little to actually push it unless he's explicitly asked to do so.
So I feel Yunho's "Mingi is cute" agenda is less about Ateez trying to regulate their collective image as a group and more about Yunho managing his own. Most of the time, he does it for one of two reasons. Firstly, to say Mingi's actually really cute, but you won't see this because you are not as close to him as I am, and you'll never be, and secondly, to promote his own masculinity. It's him saying, you see this very charming, very traditionally manly man who can make entire stadiums bark for him? He's actually a meek little princess that needs to be taken care of at all times or else he'll implode, and I am the prince, because I am strong and dependable, so if you really think about it, I am the manliest man that's ever manned- even if that's not really my vibe physically.
And with the way that video was edited, I find it hard to believe that that was Yunho defending Mingi's personality. Mingi didn’t need help in that particular situation — he’d already charmed the shit out of the host. Hell, they even spent a noticeable part of the video flinging into each other and laughing like schoolgirls. No, this was Yunho realizing he’d just been called mean and manipulative and retaking control of the narrative.
Because, guys, Mingi is just joking. We've been friends for like ever, and he's a meek little princess. Would a princess be friends with the big bad wolf? I don't fucking think so. And Hongjoong, who quite cleverly pointed out that the only thing legitimising Mingi's playful jabs is me joining in, is just fucking around. You know why? Because KQ made ateez for us three, so we're super tight like that. So, they can call me mean, but I am not. In fact, I am the nicest guy to ever nice, and this is all in good fun.
Yunho being the Mingi explainer is so fascinating to me; because it's clear that anyone who talks to Mingi for more than five minutes finds him utterly charming. His wide and varied social circle attests to his ability to make friends easily. Yet Yunho always makes it a point to inform people (or reassure them) that Mingi is nothing like the scary first impression he often gives via his on-stage drag performance of hyper-sexual masculinity.
"It's just way too sad that ATINY can't see that part of him."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Mingi might be a bit much (intense) for people meeting him for the first time but once you get to know him, he's really fun. He likes making jokes. He's a really cute guy"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Introducing my friend, Mingi. My beloved friend, Mingi. he is always full of charisma and on stage, he is endlessly passionate. but whenever we're together, when he smiles/laughs, he's always full of cute charm."
Tumblr media
"At home he is very cute"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I think Mingi's charm point is the cuteness within all that charisma"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really wonder where this stems from; is it a protective (defensive?) gesture from a friend who watched as someone he cared about went on hiatus for anxiety-related mental health reasons? Is it Yunho trying to manage or direct our perception of Mingi because it benefits the group's image to have the existence of a Princess Minki who helps diffuse the more critical responses to Ateez's performance style? (This is similar to how the other members publicly manage the image of San: he's pouting kitty cat in the body of a manhwa protagonist). Is this part of their fanservice -- Yunho bragging about his exclusive access to Mingi's cutest self that not even ATINY can see?
There's plenty of room to speculate but I do find it interesting that this has been a recurring motif in their on-camera shipwork for years!

Isn’t it funny how kpop artists are not allowed to say imma beat that pussy up but they are almost always peddling sex appeal in some way so we get one thousand metaphors instead and it’s like
girl group lyrics: look at my cookie my cake my strawberry cream sundae because it’s sweet and it’s pink and it’s fresh and it’s hot and if you want it you can taste it but not everyone can taste it but you can touch it and feel it and it feel so good. My sundae my sundae everybody now 1 2 3 shake it shake it
boy group lyrics: come ride on me and around me and on top of me and jump on top of me and we are jumping around and around and we are close to each other because we are driving in the car. And you can drive my car and we can drive the car together and we can drive so hard and so fast. Vroom vroom skrrt skrrt let’s ride let’s go let’s jump up and down I love my car it’s fun.

🫵 the yungi essays
i love them
you are somehow in my brain speaking the exact same things that i have been thinking onto tumblr
thank you
also please write more (honestly about any of them im very intrigued on how you see dynamics like matz or woosansang (bc i have some thoughts about that one) or jongsang or woosan or really any of the dynamics that are seen as the "iconic ships" of ateez)
Oh fuck, I have so many thoughts about Woosansang, I wouldn't know where to start. My hyperfixation on Yeosang is reaching Yungi-levels of psychosis.
Please tell me your thoughts about woosansang, so we can be crazy together.

When the teaser for now this house ain't a home dropped, I braced myself for the biggest ick of my life. I thought "Now it was going to be another one of those "oh look at her—her dad’s horrible, poor girl, I’m so sad and also weirdly aroused" kind of songs, and I have zero tolerance for that kind of bullshit. Especially from men.
But PRAISE THE LORD, it's about pregnancy scares. Crisis averted.
Edenary, I'm sorry for doubting you (I'm not. You've written some questionable things before), may your condom never break again.

If I was Alexander the Great and I knew this man existed, no troop mutiny could have stopped me from crossing the Ganges River.
Like, I'm sorry you guys want to get home because you have like families and shit and you went from not knowing what elephants were to having to fight battles against them, but you're gonna have to keep walking.
I would circumnavigate the whole world on a hot pink flamingo float for this man.
Hephaestion, who?
