I'm Haya (she/her), an aspiring writer. I mainly write fantasy. In this blog, I talk about my adventures in writing and about my stories. Both the icon and header art are done by me. Emotional Walls Your Character Has Built (And What Might Finally Break Them)
(How your character defends their soft core and what could shatter it) Because protection becomes prison real fast.
✶ Sarcasm as armor. (Break it with someone who laughs gently, not mockingly.) ✶ Hyper-independence. (Break it with someone who shows up even when they’re told not to.) ✶ Stoicism. (Break it with a safe space to fall apart.) ✶ Flirting to avoid intimacy. (Break it with real vulnerability they didn’t see coming.) ✶ Ghosting everyone. (Break it with someone who won’t take silence as an answer.) ✶ Lying for convenience. (Break it with someone who sees through them but stays anyway.) ✶ Avoiding touch. (Break it with accidental, gentle contact that feels like home.) ✶ Oversharing meaningless things to hide real depth. (Break it with someone who asks the second question.) ✶ Overworking. (Break it with forced stillness and the terrifying sound of their own thoughts.) ✶ Pretending not to care. (Break it with a loss they can’t fake their way through.) ✶ Avoiding mirrors. (Break it with a quiet compliment that hits too hard.) ✶ Turning every conversation into a joke. (Break it with someone who doesn’t laugh.) ✶ Being everyone’s helper. (Break it when someone asks what they need, and waits for an answer.) ✶ Constantly saying “I’m fine.” (Break it when they finally scream that they’re not.) ✶ Running. Always running. (Break it with someone who doesn’t chase, but doesn’t leave, either.) ✶ Intellectualizing every feeling. (Break it with raw, messy emotion they can’t logic away.) ✶ Trying to be the strong one. (Break it when someone sees the weight they’re carrying, and offers to help.) ✶ Hiding behind success. (Break it when they succeed and still feel empty.) ✶ Avoiding conflict at all costs. (Break it when silence causes more pain than the truth.) ✶ Focusing on everyone else’s healing but their own. (Break it when they hit emotional burnout.)

there will never be a funnier dynamic to me than one in which 2 people are so obviously in love with each other that everyone they meet thinks they're sleeping together or partnered in some way but the 2 people have never ever once spoken about their feelings to each other because they're both too scared and resolutely avoid talking about it or doing anything about it but literally everyone else is like "that is not how regular friends act even if they're best friends this is not normal they are clearly insane about each other" especially as the reader because every reference feels like the author is staring you directly in the eyes

I have a world kinda similar to this!
My explanation is basically "Magic". The world is divided in five regions, one for each season, and a Forbidden One. There's a whole ritual related to the change of season, because of the Lore it has to be manually done.
At certain dates in each region a small group of people start travelling and bring "their" season to the next region, the next region does the same for their season and so on, allowing the next region to experience the next season. So technically yeah, you could follow spring forever!
fantasy world where instead of a northern/southern hemisphere with opposite seasons, the seasons roll around the world like our day/night cycle. If you keep traveling in the right direction at the right pace you can follow spring forever
#worldbuilding#the world's called Mahokai#it's a peculiar place where even plants and rocks can use magic and they indeed do like to troll people when they can

please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

How to Make Your Book Look Like a Book
I’ve just discovered something wonderful. When I self-published Chrysanthemum, there was a lot of formatting work that I had to do before I submitted it. And seeing my document take on the formatting and page structure of a book was… awesome. Out of curiosity, I tried the same thing for my current WIP, and seeing it in proper book formatting gave me butterflies.
So I’m here so share some tips! (Using Google Docs.)
Note: I’m writing this specifically for people who want their document to look like their book as it’s being written or for self-publishers. If you’re planning to publish traditionally, find your publisher or agent’s submission standards and follow those.
