"red blood, white snow, truly one of the most beautiful sights i've seen." the splash of red across the pure white expanse was gorgeous, the color contrast is unmatched, truly. "i can't imagine something more fascinating to look at."

finnick smiled, pushing a stray strand of her auburn hair behind her ear after twiddling it through his fingers for a moment, "i was thinking about what i almost missed out on," he admitted, sadness ringing his tone, "i know i needed to help katniss get to the capitol but part of me wishes i had just stayed. i would not have died and i would have been with you when oliver was born," he shook his head, "no point in dwelling on it now."

"can never go wrong with pizza," he agreed as they finally settled on their chosen food. "i know a place that has great pizza and the best garlic knots in the city."

"yeah you start getting used to unusual around here pretty quickly. how long have you been here?" rosalie herself couldn't quite answer that question herself the mixture of her real memories and the fake ones gathered here in dc painted a pretty muddy picture.

finnick pursed his lips, brow furrowed as he tried to figure out what was happening, "i.... was," he agreed, nodding, "but i'm not anymore. this place, whatever it is, brought me back. haven't you run into any other dead people recently?" he asked and then reached forward, poking the guy in the shoulder, "see? i'm real."

" and you-you're fucking dead, bud." he hasn't touched a single drink in nearly a month, and its resulting in hallucinations. finnick is dead and as annoying as he was, haymitch had mourned his fallen friend and ally.

"this is the cheapest and most reliable way," quigley admitted, "despite the crashing and getting lost. at least if i don't know where i'm going, i can leave earlier and give myself more time."

" why don't you just take the bus, if you're that bad at riding it...or one of those e bikes?" kate hadn't ever ridden a bike, not seeing a point in them. she'd been alive longer than they'd been made, and had been able to run faster than they could ever drive.

"I am perfectly aware of what it is. It still doesn't apply here," Catherine retorted, trying to keep a civil tone but struggling with the addition of a new pet name, "I am also not your sweetheart. Aren't terms of endearment supposed to be reserved for people you know," she sighed, "I reserve the attitude for the unfortunate. I'm much nicer to people who don't try and act familiar with me."

"It's just a term of endearment, sweetheart." Cassidy admitted, considering he really didn't mean any harm behind the word. "i mean, if you want too sure, but i don't think everyone in this town is going to be as nice as me. at least, not with that attitude you got."

"Exactly," Charles said, "I mean they don't teach us battle strategy for nothing," he continued, "Not that we technically had the element of surprise. They caught us so it was a last-minute decision to set it off while I was still on. I think they didn't believe we would do that."

"You know, I actually can't argue with that." Pentious admitted with a nod. "That is very clever of you. If I am being honest, the element of surprise is how event he most unskilled at battle can win."

"oh goodness, no. i prefer just dancing through life." fiyero admitted with a shrug. "sometimes it's easier being brainless. i feel it makes life far more easier."

astrid snorted, "right," she turned to him properly and pointed, "you're either drunk or crazy. of course you can leave, there's no such thing as the supernatural. are you hearing voices or something?" she asked, her voice laced with concern as she truly considered phoning the police but for a different reason.

"well, by whatever supernatural entity brought us to this city is what is keeping us all here." kai replied with a slight shrug. "don't see what the police could do?"

"come now, love, don't pretend you didn't miss me," garrett said, "from what i've heard, you could have been here for years without me. surely you're ravenous," he teased, smirking. to him, it had only been a few weeks since he arrived since he'd seen her but her learned some things while looking for her. he had even been trying to follow her family's diet but his eyes were now an onyx black. it had been a while since he'd fed, "a b+? i never went to a modern high school. what does that mean?"

" well, soldier, i never asked you to follow me. you chose that all of your own accord." kate sniffed, privately pleased he'd ended up here as well. her family was here, to some extent, but it was different if he was here as well. not that she'd let him know that. " not intentionally, though i think you've earned yourself a b+?"
