im so normal and nonchalant thinking about TEC in school rn (EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER)

i imagine all that pompous vitriol they spit at each other just completely dies the moment theyre stripped from the safety of some basement or comic shop . That once theyre in a class room , they become nothing . Quiet, and in their own world . Theres nothing for them at school that their media doesnt already provide a false imitation of .

Instead of the cafeteria, they eat lunch together under a stairwell. Jerry can't stand the cafeteria noise, Pete enjoys the must and darkness of the stairwell, Josh tolerates it, and Bill gets insecure over being seen there with them and will sometimes opt to eat in a bathroom stall alone. Regardless, the common denominator in all cases is that they’re each other’s only options.

Nobody else can tolerate them so they dont have any friends outside of each other. And even when they can, they’re probably some “dumbass normie” and they wouldnt want to be friends anyway. They have no clique, just each other.

all that vitriol and violence they spew at each other completely dissipates on school grounds. Theyd never talk back to a bully. They dont have the balls like they do with each other. In TEC, its a level playing field. Or, maybe some feel theyre a little better than the others.

from my perspective, zero day is a movie about a schxxl shxxting rather than a movie about the cxlumbine shooting specifically, if that makes sense ? the director himself, ben coccio, has also corroborated this intention . it was an exploration of ideas and an attempt to answer questions more than a direct reimagining of events .

i dont blame any anyone for grouping zdblr with tccblr (esp since the the fanbases overlap heavily) but if we're comparing the subjects directly (separate from fandom), i feel like theres a stark difference between fictional media that explicitly critiques and condemns a sensitive subject through embodying it (zero day), and trivializing/fetishizing actual crime by making it into a spectacle and boiling it down to entertainment. no introspectiveness, no humanization of the victims, pure gooner-rot and pink bow edits lol (tcc).

but, as much as i think zero day is a valid movie, it doesnt change the fact that its tumblr community can be rancid lol . ive seen it and frankly i find a lot of them to be insufferable LOL . but do i think every zd fan deserves to fall under that blanket ? no , but i see why it happens.

everyone is entitled to wanting to cultivate a fandom or following that makes them comfortable, and i dont mind that many eltingville fans denounce zd fans from the space. thats not my prerogative , plus it would be lame to fight tooth and nail over this. there are actual issues deserving of our time and energy , and that goes both ways . lets not go eltingville mode over this lol . people on the internet are insane and are going to have shit takes and shit interests but who cares .
