i know it's been said time and time again but nothing hits quite like a character who's stifled their pain and trauma for so long finally receiving some kind of validation or comfort from someone who cares for them and just utterly shattering. crying so hard it sounds like they're dying, body so wrecked by it that the other person is worried they're going to make themself sick. able to withstand all of it by pushing those feelings away until someone said 'i see this, and it's not right, it's not okay, i'm so sorry'

What's your favorite headcanon that you haven't put in a fic/haven't featured heavily?

Mine is that Devon switched to be an OB focus after the incidents in s2e20 "If Not Now, When?"

(imo this also makes Devrad more plausible earlier as he's not directly under Conrad [at work at least ;)] anymore)

I don't think they talk about this explicitly in the show (correct me if they do, or if somebody else has), but Lane Hunter definitely killed Annabeth.

If Hunter did it, she would have talked to Conrad the way Conrad talked to Devon on his first day, "We all make mistakes, we never forget the first patient we lose."

Annabeth was a kid with cancer. Conrad was working under Hunter at the time, in oncology. Annabeth died of "mis-dosed potassium". So did Lily Kendall, getting a whole dose over thirty minutes, and Lane put the blame on Nic. I see no reason why she wouldn't do the same to an intern.

Lane comforting Conrad over it also strengthens their bond and makes him less likely to talk about suspicions (as we see in early s1, he's very reluctant). She does the same thing with Bell, making him love her enough that she's confident he won't turn her in.
