Applications for joining the Flavorum go through me. Also staffed by inept team of expendable clerical goblins. So send me a message if you want to join. I promise it won't hurt... me.
Don't wanna be here? Send us removal request.
Note
Request to join the flavorum? Currently an ecology student about to graduate, vorthos, and general nerd. I don't post much but I do comment on things and enjoy discussion on art and narratives.
Happy to have you here! :)

Flavorum Reforum
About a year into starting my @flavoracle blog here on Tumblr, I started doing something on posts where I was REALLY hoping to get some feedback/participation. I found it was really helpful to be able to tag other blogs that had previously shown interest in collaborating with me and doing deep dive discussions.
I basically just kept an open text note on my phone with a list of these blogs, so I could tag them consistently without accidentally missing anyone. As the list got bigger and gained something of a reputation, I decided to have some fun with it and I named that list of blogs “The Flavorum.” (As in, Flavor-Forum)
I had a LOT of fun with the Flavorum over the years, and they helped make possible some great conversations, invaluable insights, and wacky experiments. Over time though, I’ve called on the Flavorum less and less. There are a few reasons for this:
The list became so large it became difficult to manage
Many members of the Flavorum had gradually left Tumblr, and it made me sad to see so many URLs of old friends no longer there
After taking my own periodic breaks from Tumblr, I felt like I had lost the right to still “summon” the Flavorum out of the blue
Over time, I observed that some people new to Tumblr felt excluded from the community when they weren’t included in the list, and felt too nervous to request being added because they thought it was some kind of exclusive club or clique (I realize this last point was somewhat out of my control, but it still pained me to be the source of anyone feeling like an outsider)
Having said all that, I’ve recently realized that I really MISS the Flavorum and the kind of collaboration they made possible. So I’d like to do something about it.
I am formally reforming the Flavorum!!
Do YOU want to be part of the newly reformed Flavorum? If so, here are the best ways to get added:
Add a comment to this post and/or reblog this thread with a comment (liking or reblogging without comment aren’t BAD, but it’s a lot harder for me to catch those and keep track of them.)
Send an ask or personal message to @flavorum-hq, requesting to be added (again, it’s not BAD to request this through my main @flavoracle blog, just harder for me to track)
Follow the @flavorum-hq blog and subscribe to notifications (but still send me a message please so I know you’re not a bot)
That’s all it takes! Doesn’t matter how long you’ve been on Tumblr or how many followers your blog has. Doesn’t matter if you’re blog is dedicated to a specific interest or if (like me) your blog is topically all over the place.
A few more considerations worth noting regarding the Flavorum:
PLEASE PARTICIPATE! I don’t mean this in a “You better step up or you’re cut from the team” kind of way, but rather a “I see you hanging out in the background feeling unsure if you’ll be treated like an intruder for speaking up, and I want to be clear that your voice is WANTED HERE” kind of way
The Flavorum is meant to encourage safe, positive collaboration opportunities, so please strive to make comments encouraging and helpful.
Criticism is totally appropriate when it aims to identify specific concerns, express your emotional reaction, or suggest alternatives (“One issue might be...” “This made me feel...” “Have you considered...”)
No Labels! (“This idea is worthless,” “You are dumb,” “Dave is the smartest person here,” etc.) Notice that even though that last example may seem positive at first, the labeling still has a negative implication towards everyone else (and also just isn’t true)
I am not comfortable linking to blogs that promote hateful or abusive themes and messages, so if you notice a blog tagged in the Flavorum that violates this, please feel free to reach out to me privately and let me know, and I’ll review and take appropriate action
Please keep in mind that I’m just one nerd with ADHD, a family, and other responsibilities, so I may be slow to respond, forgetful, and/or inconsistent sometimes (I appreciate you being patient and understanding with me as I do my best
One last thing I’d like to note. The original Flavorum was most often called upon to participate and comment on posts that referenced the game Magic: the Gathering and that fandom. While that’s certainly not out of the question in the future, it shouldn’t be an expectation either.
After all, in the years since creating the original Flavorum, my interests have shifted, and so too have my desires to collaborate on certain topics.
For example, don’t be surprised if I summon the Flavorum to discuss a post on the @exploringalterra blog I help manage for the “Age of Exploration” game I’m on the design team for. Or seeking feedback when I post a new chapter in my Enemies of Creed fantasy series. It might be to signal boost something I didn’t create at all, but I think deserves a robust and lively discussion.
Oh, and long posts. Be prepared for long posts. One of the reasons I love still using Tumblr is because it doesn’t try to limit how much I can say, or how quickly I have to say it. And I’m going to utilize that freedom. So... yeah. You’ve been warned.
Still here? AWESOME!! In that case, please introduce yourself (you don’t have to use your own name unless you’re comfortable with that) and tell me something you’d like people to know about you. (Talent you’re proud of, interesting personal trivia, recent accomplishment, lifelong dream, etc.)
I look forward to getting to know you and collaborating with you in the future!!
Friends and Fellow Nerds, Welcome to the Flavorum!

Magic player for over a decade, I have made custom for fun for friends, recently started making gifs and using it for making "mtg meme" posts. I've introduced many many people to the game and I would love to be added to this list as I hope to be a helpful and uplifting contributor to the Magic Community as a whole.
Impressive resume! (Not that you need to justify yourself.) Welcome to the Flavorum!

People of the flavorum, I have a challenge! We must together create a custom magic card of... Glib-Halfwit!
Every day we will submit a different aspect of a legendary creature card named, Glib-Halfwit, Goblin Midmanager. Each time a card element is posted, in will go through the submissions and select his favorite from the post's comments. Enjoy, and hope you like your card Glib!

Custom Card Design Challenge: 100% Community-Designed Card
This challenge is VERY different from the last one. It could be quite interesting if it actually works though…
OK, so here’s the way it’s going to work. We’re all going to design a card together (probably more than one, really) and we’re going to do it one word at a time. When you reblog this, you will add a word, and then somebody else will add a word after you.
To start off, try to limit yourself to just one word per card (Since this will almost certainly split into multiple threads, feel free to add a word to different cards, but try to contribute only one word per card.)
Here is the order the text will go in (just to keep everybody on the same page)
Card Name
Mana Cost, if any (each mana symbol counts as a word)
Card Type(s)
Card Subtype(s), if any
Card Text Box (each mana symbol or tap symbol counts as a word)
Power/Toughness, if any (each number counts as a word but double digits count as a single word, and the “/” doesn’t count as a word)
Flavor Text, if any
So, how about it? Anybody want to try this harebrained experiment with me?!
I’ll start with the first word…

OK this is funny, but I also kinda did this with my three kids in real life.
No time to explain now, but will add more details later...
On your child’s first birthday, assign them a D&D class based on their personality and skill set. A kid who tends to break things might be a fighter, while a highly social, music-loving kid might be a bard. As they grow up, give them the option to multiclass or change classes entirely as they level up. Remember, some skills (dex, int) might develop later in life, so a level 1 fighter may become a rogue by level 5 or 6.

1) Most of them were used up during the battle for Sea Gate. Now they're trying to make due without.
2) "I choose to stay for the others who can't make that choice for themselves."
QUESTION TIME!
1) What is the flavor of Tibalt having such a low casting cost?
2) Planeswalker's Fury
Vorthos Volleyball - Planeswalker Edition
Anybody want to play some Vorthos Volleyball?! With so much focus on planeswalkers in Oath of the Gatewatch (both in the story and the cards) I thought this was an ideal time to start a round focused on those vivacious voyagers of the void! (Keep in mind, not every volley has to be about planeswalker cards, I just thought it would be fun to start off that way.)
A couple things before we get started…
For those who haven’t played Vorthos Volleyball before, you can find the rules explained in an earlier post by clicking on this bullet point.
NO MORE TEN-VOLLEY LIMIT!!
Quick reminder that there is no debating other players’ answers. The point of the game is to have fun, not be right.
ANYONE can play Vorthos Volleyball. Yes, everyone. That includes you, the person reading this right now. You. Come play with us.
I know I say this every time, but I really do highly, HIGHLY recommend checking out the notes for the post. I know that most of the people playing follow my blog and I love it when you respond to my volleys, but it is a LOT more fun when you all respond to each other too! So take a look at the most recent volley in the notes and make some new friends!
OK, now on to the opening volley! Have fun everyone!!
What is the flavor of Nissa, Voice of Zendikar putting +1/+1 counters on other creatures? In the story so far she seems to be quite a loner.
Zendikar Resurgent

Yes, @chelsea-willette-beleren-vess! Enter the great pun war! JOIN US!!
Well, this is fun.
Half my dash is Team Tony and the other half is Team Steve and I’m just sitting here as Team Please Boys Stop Fighting.
If it’s this rough right now how bad is it gonna be by the time the actual movie comes out? Like I’d rather the fandom not become even more divided.
