hair the color of dead leaves

this was inspired by a line from a jpn fic i read that described gentaro's hair as "the color of dead leaves." unfortunately i can't find the fic anymore so it might've been taken down ToT but it's stuck with me ever since i first read it because gentaro is "phantom," so i love to describe him as such in my writing… pale as a phantom, cold as a corpse, hair the color of dead leaves. he's more dead than he is alive

so yeah i waited the whole year for the leaves outside to start turning brown 😭 but i also used some leaves from the plants at home >w<

i'm very happy to have finally finished this, especially since i've had it on my mind for a long time now!! 😊

oh also i have been keeping up more or less and i am incredibly disappointed by the lack of gentaro name reveal and the phrase "gentaro is gentaro".

bc if it were some other circumstance, i'd understand how that would be a good solution. but gen has been wanting to reveal his identity and his name for a long time now, he doesn't really WANT to be "gentaro" to them. he wants to be himself. and i understand that the point of it is "it doesn't matter who you say you are or what name you go by, we know who you are as a person", but that isn't a reason to deny gentaro being able to share his true name.

there's a good chance it's just king records wanting to keep him "yumeno gentaro" for marketing reasons, but to me it did gen's arc of reclaiming his identity amongst his posse pretty dirty :( especially bc they make him get cut off so it didn't even feel like his decision. it feels like a repeat of the other times he's tried to share, they've for some reason denied him the ability, so he just gives in and goes back on it (such as when he told them and they didn't believe him, or when he suggested they share secrets and they told him they should keep them). i feel like their bond has evolved but gentaro is still stilted in reclaiming his own identity.
