[Continued from Here]
Joshua stood there in the large doorway, having just come out from a meeting with many of his advisors, feeling a light prickle of gooseflesh on the back of his neck. Slightly narrowed eyes traveled over their form, attempting to discern if there were any lies with their words. There was something about that calm composure of theirs which made him feel slightly on edge. Still, he gave a short, respectful nod towards them, and felt quite wrong for jumping to hostilities as he did.
"No, you're right... Forgive me, Lord Commander. I simply did not expect you to arrive so swiftly." Long strides were taken as he went past the archway of the door, coming into the chambers that were reserved for occasions regarded as more formal. This certainly could be considered as such, he mused briefly, still a little wary of the other's intentions. After all, he wasn't so certain on the 'peace' that those of Waloed were in talks of promising to their land.
"So," He spoke softly, taking a seat at the chair opposite the other. "...how may we broker this peace? What terms did the king have for a proposal?"

I could attempt to write as Cid, but I'm not sure...
Maybe something where it's him with Waloed, being the Lord Commander, and he's slowly discovering Barnabas isn't exactly "Good".
Or after, when he's with Clive and rebelling.

AU idea where Barnabas and Anabella are a thing?? Could even be something where Elwin is still alive, or just a completely different type of scenario where they end up getting betrothed to one another. Maybe Barnabas just isn't happy with it, at all, but will be sort of smug about it if Elwin is ever around.

Those wings burned a flame hotter than the sun, and his fear amped up from the stress of that situation. He couldn't get the possibilities of whatever they wanted from him out of his thoughts, and erratic emotions were swirling like an inferno's powerful gusts. The Phoenix cried out, continuing to distance themself from any and all danger. Mighty beats of their powerful wings blew the tops of trees, and set aflame any unfortunately dry leaves.
While flying, something small was heard, because of the height in which he was. That pointed beak turned downwards and back, glancing at the ground as they made to turn around. The fear of before had turned into curiosity, and it's what calmed him enough to focus on that voice. Another cry, and it soared right above the area where that noise had been coming from. A name. His name!
This is what made reason come to him, and his wings spread out far to make the landing as soft as possible. Trees blew back from the mighty gales he produced, and their heat dimming as he did not wish to burn the grass beneath himself. Bright blue eyes stared in the direction of this person, realizing this was the one who had called his name. Yet, upon seeing them, something deep stirred in his soul. A recognition that left him so severely stunned, and the fiery bird made small chattering sounds with it's confusion.
@fire-branded
The sight of the great Phoenix soaring overhead, leaving a trail of flames in its wake, was not an unfamiliar sight to the former Archduke. Many a time had his father swooped in -- quite literally -- to raze the ground in pursuit of Rosaria's enemies. But those had been during times of war; this was not the battlefield, and this Eikon's Dominant was very much not his father.
No -- this Dominant was still a ghost from the past, but a very different ghost, or so he surmised. (But even should this Dominant prove to be someone entirely different, the man had to see for himself -- he had to be sure, one way or the other.)
The moment that "Miles" had seen the sky in the distance set alight by that familiar vibrant plumage, he had abandoned the small patrol of his fellow Cursebreakers in order to chase after the retreating firebird. There was no explanation, no assurance of his eventual return. There was only desperation and fear writ plain upon his features, spurring on each movement he made, guiding every footfall that carried him further away yet closer to his unknown destination.
His heart hammered viciously within his ribcage. No matter how many times he stumbled along the way in his haste, he wouldn't, couldn't stop. Like a man possessed, he scrambled and clawed his way along when need be, with the scorched and blazing earth acting as his guide -- his beacon in the dark. All the while, a single name kept repeating from him, shouted to the heavens -- or perhaps to Metia above, as a wish -- in the hope that somehow, some way, he would be heard:
"Joshua!"

"Oh, no. I think I am fine enough on myself losing control for the rest of the night. We're spent in that issue." Even the Phoenix was tired of needing to use much of it's energy in physically changing the form of the vessel. His attention was elsewhere, and he eyed the Prince with that still-burning expression on his face. "... And well, if you were wanting to help me..."
Joshua noticed him coming closer, and that's when the flame of courage decided to bring itself out further. He straightened his posture and reached for the other's hand, bringing it up to kiss the middle and top knuckles. "I could lose control in another fashion. For you, only, of course. If you would have me, my Prince."
@phantasiiae
"Exactly. As far as I know, we didn't lose anyone. I think I stopped you just in time, hm?" Dion grins playfully, then blinks, his brow furrowing when Joshua speaks again. It wouldn't be any good if the Phoenix took control like that again. Dion can only do so much to help him, to put a stop to it. He crosses his arms, a concerned expression on his face as he steps closer to Joshua.
As far as he can tell, he looks...fine, save for maybe a few scratches and bruises that might come up later. Dion shakes his head, just a bit confused. "I'm sorry, Joshua. I'm afraid I'm not following. Are you worried that you might lose control again?" Dion, after all, has no idea exactly what it is that the Phoenix wants. He can feel Bahamut stir uncomfortably, which puts him on edge, too.
Whenever I look at you...it makes his stomach flip a little, but he chooses to ignore it. "What can I do to help?"

Joshua went along with him, trying to focus on nothing else but his voice. Yet, that was what was his undoing, and he couldn't stop feeling so pressured, almost. Not in the sort where he was to lose control of himself, but more of this intense need to be physically closer to them. So, he did just that, and paused only when the other had given him that spare change of clothes. He glanced at the bundle in his hands, and then looked away for a moment, hesitant-feeling.
"Thank you... Were I to have been the cause of any of your men's death, would have laid so much guilt on my heart. Thank the stars none were hurt."
Though, that something else from earlier was still bothering him, and he stared at him again with those eyes that shined with a different kind of expression. "Dion, if I may speak freely to you... I sense that I am not alright, still. Health-wise, yes, of course... but... the Phoenix in me still wishes to burn. When I look at you, now, this pit in my stomach twists. It almost feels like I am starved, but not. Forgive me, but I cannot put it to words so plain."
@phantasiiae
The entire ride back, Dion is entirely too aware of Joshua pressed against him, the warmth that radiates from him. It's like a soothing balm that Dion didn't know he needed after being so on edge during all of that. He's just glad that it didn't end poorly. It could've been worse, a lot worse. Perhaps Greagor was looking out for them both. Regardless of what it is, he's just happy to see Joshua in one piece. If something had happened to him, he doesn't think he would ever forgive himself.
When they return to camp, Dion leans over to Terence, muttering something into his ear, likely orders about what to tell the other soldiers. Terence nods, bowing to both Dion and Joshua before leaving. That's when Dion turns his attention back to Joshua, a small frown on his face.
"Oh, of course. Come along. As I said, I could get you a spare change of clothes, too." As he says this, he gestures for Joshua to follow him back into his tent. Once they arrive, he begins to look through one of his chests for a spare set of clothes.
"Here we are..it might not fit quite right, but it's better than nothing, eh? Now, as for apologies...it happens to the best of us, I'm afraid. The worst was avoided. I'm just glad to see you whole."

OPEN RP | Muse: Joshua
"... Stay back!! I'm warning you!"
A single flame appeared in the palm of his hand, summoning only an ounce of his power. Hardly any issue to do, and not as taxing on his body as more could be, were he to bring more of it out. The Phoenix was his to command. His protector, his hopeful beacon. When the times became too much to handle, he would look to them for guidance, and pray that all would be well. Right now, he felt a small bout of fear slide down his spine, unable to stop it, and that determined mask he wore on his face would soon crumble.
