In the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a lot of conversations about anti-racism with those close to me. I recognize that I’ve been extremely privileged, yet I have not been putting that privilege to good use. I’ve started to actively stand with Black Lives Matter through petitions, donations, education and self-reflection. I have a lot of reading ahead of me and will continue to actively support anti-racism by learning and supporting black communities to the best of my ability. 2009 vs 2019: I wasn't drawing in 2009, because I still thought I wanted to be a lawyer. 😆 What I did do, though, that was an important step towards my future in animation, was apply to film school. Childhood week Day 6: Mysterious! I was both afraid and intrigued by the basement in my house. Childhood week day 5: Forest! My scout group organized a camping trip, and I wasn't too stoked about it at first, but it turned out to be super fun. When it got dark, we looked up at the sky and were amazed by how clear the stars were, just an hour outside of the city. Thinking back, scouts was such a nice experience. It was a specific group for Chinese-Canadian kids. Childhood week Day 3: castle! My favourite playset was a seashell castle with mermaid figures. The inside lit up and you could fill one side with water. Childhood week Day 2: Fly! Swinging was probably the closest feeling to flying when I was a kid. It's the best when you and your friends take turns pushing each other super hard so you swing really high.
