Had an idea. Heatwave and reader. Sitting on a hill at night, looking at the stars. Readers listening to Heatwave vent stuff. Then possible “The stars look so beautiful tonight” with “Yeah…you are” moment between them.

When the Moon Hits Your Eyes

The others tend to huff and haw at him whenever he 'complains' to them too much. Heatwave doesn't think it's as bad as they're making it. Complaining is healthy when it's called venting, and to him, there's no real difference, so what's the harm? It helps him come to conclusions, find solutions to problems.

At least you seem to agree with him. Spread out across his back, you watch him drag a digit through the dirt, mapping out the recent rescue to try and figure out why things keep going haywire. You listen mostly, only commenting when you need clarification or elaboration. Otherwise, you let him rant on, and slowly the frustrated ball squeezing his spark starts to the release.

"I dunno if I can offer any help with that." You say when he's finally out of steam. "But if you wanna, we can stay out here where it's quiet."

Heatwave tugs at one of your little hands, palm splaying across his own, so small and warm. "Yeah. . . That sounds nice."

Smiling, you wiggle off of him and push at his arm until he rolls over onto his back. You giggle at his dramatic groaning, tucking close to his head as you point up at the stars that shine overhead. They sparkle, connected by imaginary lines you draw for him, connecting together into stories of triumph, myth and legends engraved to the never ending universe.

But even as you spin tales of uncatchable foxes and dogs that always hunt down their prey, their paradox upon the world before, Heatwave finds himself watching your face more than the sky. Your eyes shine brighter than the stars, in his opinion, reflecting them back like small galaxies just for him to admire.

"Isn't it amazing?" You ask him, breathless as you reach up for worlds far beyond your grasp.

"Yeah. . ." Heatwave murmurs.

You turn to him, smile like a lance to his spark. "Not so bad here, yeah? At least we have beautiful sights like this."

"You're a beautiful sight." Heatwave agrees, cracking a sly grin when your eyes widen, brighter, like the hue of your cheeks. "Prettiest one here."

He can only laugh when you duck down, curling up against his neck cables to hide yourself from his gaze. It's cute, how easily you fluster from compliments, especially when you're not ready for them.

Heatwave stares up at the stars, at the greater and lesser dogs, or was one a fox? He sighs, curling a servo around your body, keeping you close. Maybe you'll let him have a kiss once your flush passes.

Heatwave Romantic Headcanons

He's rough around the edges, caught up in keeping a tough guy act, but he does care. It's easier to get him to relax in private, though, since he's not too keen for the others to think he's soft on you. He is, but they don't need to have evidence of it.

It can be hard to find a moment to yourselves, especially before Griffith Rock learns of the Rescue Bots' true identities. Still, sometimes the base is left empty, or sometimes there's a spot on a hill he finds and drives you to when things are quiet. Heatwave's not the best with words, so sometimes it sounds like he's just complaining and using you as a stress toy to hug. But you can hear what's not said, how every "They never stop bothering me" translates into "I never get to spend time with you." With time, he gets better at being more direct, but he still complains that he's so busy and there's never time for cuddles.

Speaking of cuddling, it's not the end of the world for Heatwave, but he does enjoy having you lying on him or against him. Your touch is soothing, and it eases the protective instincts that flare up whenever he sees you. You can't get hurt if he's right beside you, there and ready to sweep you away from any danger. For this reason, he also keeps a servo on you, cradling your waist or tracing symbols on your back. If you focus, and know Cybertronian, you'll be able to tell he's writing "soft" or "spark" over and over again

If you're human, cultural differences can be a cause of friction. Heatwave doesn't understand why humans act the way they do sometimes, and he gets frustrated easily. Luckily for you, Cody has taught you the way of circumventing said frustrating. Really, all it takes is a calm explanation, and Heatwave will try to wrap his head around it, for your sake. It probably still confuses him, but given time, he'll see what you mean. And if you're ever confused about his own little habits, he tries to extend the same courtesy. He gets pretty relaxed when he talks about Cybertron and the traditions he takes part in, or the phrases he uses. It's nice to hear him talk so fondly about it.

Nicknames come and go with Heatwave. He usually sticks with the simple ones, sweetspark and bitlet if you're particularly short, or at least shorter than him. He'll pick up on some human nicknames too, once he's seen other couples use them. Again, they're simple, like hon or babe, because again, tough guy image.

He likes to show off for you. He's the leader of the Rescue Bots, and considers himself one of the strongest of the group (besides Boulder, but he's a wrecker, so it doesn't really count). He wasn't lobbing champ for nothing, you know? Heatwave tries not to showboat when he's working, unless it's a more simple job. He'll lift fallen trees or concrete debris above his head, and if you swoon (pretending or not), he gets pretty chuffed. It makes him proud that you think he's strong and capable, makes him feel more assured that you feel safe and protected by him. You finding his strength attractive is just a fun bonus, one he teases you about sometimes by manhandling you over his shoulder just to hear you squeal and fluster.

Heatwave shows love through teasing, so it's something you'll need to get used to. He's fun to banter with, though, if you know how to throw it back at him. If he cracks a sarcastic line, poke at his ego, and watch him stammer a moment before he puts his focus into arguing with you to prove you wrong. It's all lighthearted, even if he sounds a bit too serious sometimes. You'll know because he always pulls you into a gentle noogie whenever you seem to be winning the playful argument.

Heatwave also has a love for seeing you flustered. Despite his aversion to PDA, he has been known to sweep you off your feet at the drop of a hat, just to laugh when you blush and try to scold him for startling you. Once kisses become regular for you both, he'll surprise you with those too, sweeping you into a dip for a hearty smooch, just to smirk at your speechlessness. The further along into your relationship you get, the more common these surprises become, and the more used to them the others get. They just roll their eyes at you both.

Honestly, I kinda like the idea of Chase studying me like I’m a bug (I can totally see him keeping a thorough log of likes, dislikes, allergies, fears, what humans generally can and can’t consume and/or touch, etc)

Idk if that can be blamed on my autism or if I’m just weird (in middle school I tried writing down all of my friends favourite things to keep track and I just ended up weirding them all out even though I did it in the normal way (asking them directly))

Chase is very very thorough in everything he does, so you're no different! He keeps general logs of everyone's likes and dislikes, but he's got a whole folder of date ideas plus timestamps of what dates you go on. Knows the exact time y'all started dating so he can give you your gift at that time every anniversary!

I like to imagine he enjoys watching you interact with the world, even if the things you do aren't always the best ideas. He will warn you if something seems wrong, but he doesn't stop you unless it's illegal or he really thinks you'll get hurt. So no trying to parkour from five stories into a perfect roll on a tiny strip of grass on the ground below.

However, if he's certain everything is fireproof and sturdy, he'll watch you do tricks with sparklers and tamer firecrackers attached to your bike/board. Hell, if you take away the firecrackers and get him a big enough board or pair of skates, he'll try and learn tricks with you!

Of Love and Law

Chase is a bot of conviction. He does best when following orders. Heatwave and Chief Burns he listens too of course, they're his superiors. You are simply a civilian, no rank to garner respect or loyalty from him, yet he seeks out your orders even more than he does his actual superiors.

So when you tell him to sit still and not move, he does just that. He remains stock still so your careful climb up his chassis is undisturbed, save a shift of servo to make sure you'll be caught should you slip. You find purchase on his shoulder, arms coming around his helm, and that's where the kisses begin.

Chase says nothing, allowing you to smooch along the warm, smooth metal of his cheek down to the segmented jaw. His spark thrums, though, despite his stillness, vibrating beneath his plating up into you.

He can feel your smile against his face plates. Chase smiles too, shuttering his optics to bask in all that you are, and all that you make him feel.

And when your kisses drift down to brush along the corner of his intake, when your little hand coaxes at the bottom of his chin, Chase allows his helm to be tilted so he can finally return your affections. Again and again and again, as you silently demand of him, and as he is far too happy to comply.

"Oh!" Reeling back, Chase stares at Boulder, the mech snickering behind his servo. "Well, guess I'll leave you two be, huh?"

"We are busy." Chase murmurs, embarrassed but steadfast. "And Blades has already affirmed that light PDA is allowed in the common room, especially when no one else is around."

"I'm just grabbing some supplies." Boulder assures him. He shoots you a wink as he passes, the fondness in his gaze enough to make you shy and hide your face in Chase's.

"Do not wink at my courted."

"I didn't." Boulder responds cooly.

"I saw you. You do not wink at other's courted. Heatwave said-"

"Bye, now!" Boulder calls, arms full of paint buckets as he strolls off. Chase huffs after him, not pleased that his argument was derailed before he thoroughly won it. "Have fun!"

"He's glad I'm helping you relax more." You whisper, mouth brushing along his metal once more. "They worry, you know? That you never rest."

"Crime never rests." Chase responds, though his voice is softer now, considerate.

"You need to, though."

Turning his helm, Chase nuzzles a kiss to your lips. He doesn't say it out loud, but he doesn't need to for you to know that he'll try. After all, he could never deny you anything.
