My first Discworld book was the Wee Free Men. I loved it, and read it over and over again. But since that was the only one my local library had, for the longest time I thought it was a standalone. Imagine my delight when, years later, I discovered the rest of this fantastic series.

The City Watch books in particular struck a note with me, and they’ve quickly become some of my all time favorites. So of course I had to draw this to celebrate.

I’ve been meaning to redraw the cover of Making Money for a hot minute- but animating it was a last minute decision and I was kind of a freak for that. Regardless this is my new favorite thing and I will be staring at it for years

One of my favorite things about Terry Pratchett's books is their unique relationship with used bookstores. Particularly because they are difficult to find, for three reasons. The first reason is that they aren't there. Books in used bookstores were once owned by other people, people who decided to let that book go in the hopes that it will find someone new who will love it. It's very difficult to let go of a Terry Pratchett book. The second reason is that, if they make it into a store, they never stay there very long. They're usually purchased less than a few days after their arrival.

The third reason is my favorite: if they made it to the bookstore, and remained unnoticed, it's because the spine is worn. It's been read and loved so much it's almost unrecognizable from the spine. I've never found a used Terry Pratchett book without a cracked spine, and I love it. Cracked spines, stained pages, worn covers, these are the physical signs of love that we leave on our favorite books, and every Terry Pratchett book I've found in a used bookstore has been loved, dearly.

ill never and i mean NEVER get over the lilac as a metaphor for the watch. one of the first things vimes does in night watch is smell lilacs and remember. lilac went together with the song of the fallen. once a lilac tree is planned it will give rise to hundreds of other lilacs. a hundred members in the watch where there were only three a few years back. the good old days fading like lilac. the hold of the watch over the city growing weaker and weaker with each year after the revolution. remember the smell of lilac? you thought about those who died. lilac was common in the city. it was vigorous and hard to kill and had to be. there was nothing he could do about the big stuff. lilac was going to bloom.

One of my favourite kind of character one that is like a dragon

A character that's scary and intimidating but specifically to be a protector to scare off other people

A guardian of a small group who says How dare you, how dare you mess with my people

A selfish possessive violent caring protector who has made themself a symbol for their community

I thought it was impressive at first that it replaced IRC, but now I am horrified. If the company behind Discord went under today, how many friends would you lose?

How many relationships? How much writing?

You may think this won't happen, but I remember when AIM went down and along with it, entire novels worth of interaction with my oldest friend.
