Her brows furrowed while the rest of her stiffened. "Selfish? Is this because I'm not Dalish?" Her vermilion gaze fell from the trees to his face, lingering upon his vallaslin, before it settled on the ground. "I knew selfishness in the faces and hearts of men, some even Dalish, like you. It made me inaccessible to strangers."

A hand reached toward her pack, deftly dodging something sharp in the pursuit of a hollowed out gourd fitted with a cork. "The salt of an elf's tear is the very same as that of man, of Qun, dwarf, and of beast."

Grabbing the gourd, she gestured toward him. "It's water. Drink if you so like."

Caught off guard by the chuckle that finds its way out of her throat, the Fogrunner turns away too late to hide the smile that emerged. "Maybe abominations like to swim, or tan themselves in the sun."

Dimples formed in the pocket of her cheeks, able to resist the elf's usual stoicism enough to lift into a grin. "I've never seemed to wonder about that, perhaps you've inspired me to start asking."
