not to get too parasocial but seeing lorenzo behind the wheel of an f1 car, seeing the whole family at circuit paul ricard to watch him drive, is unimaginably wholesome. it’s one of those things about charles and the leclerc family that jumps out in every single thing that they do - they are not unaware of the opportunities they have now, just as they do not forget the struggle it took to achieve it. and it is so obvious how much it matters to them that the success is shared, that all three brothers make it to the top and make the life they want to lead.

it’s relatively common knowledge that arthur was forced to suspend his racing career to allow charles the chance to make it to higher racing divisions when the family didn’t have the resources to support both of them - and how seriously charles takes it to support arthur in return now that he has the opportunity. but after lorenzo’s article in the monegasque, knowing that he too was in karting and he too was fairly good but that he gave up any dream he had there first - and now to see him behind the wheel of a formula one car after he’s been supporting his brothers’s career for so long? love amongst family members does not have to be loud - but i think this is one of the sweetest gestures i’ve seen.

i think “gratitude” makes this whole thing sound more transactional than it is but clearly motorsport is this whole family’s dream and the fact that they are all involved in it in various ways shows how much they have made of the opportunities they’ve been given. and for charles and arthur to make this effort to make their brother’s dreams come true as well is just something so admirable.

(to an unrelated point i mean ferrari must have made this happen and that’s a wonderful gesture from the team that’s forcing charles to live out his nightmares on a weekly basis…they’re locking that family DOWN)
