I try to find appropriate music/ambience before writing sessions, at least something to fill the background. I've noticed 'Silent Hill ambience' almost always veers towards the chill and surreal; nothing really for "POV you killed your wife and now red geometry man wants to cut you to liven't with his anime sword".

One of the most exhausting triumphs in art is to invest enough time into a single project, that your skills improved throughout; enough so, you can see the amateurish beginnings, wondering how it even passed as acceptable before. And then the very long slog of bringing the old up to snuff with the new. It's been quite evident lately, having taken to digital painting to fluff out the internet spaces. Hopefully done by Thursday for chapter 10 debut. Maybe sneak a little preview... tomorrow?

I stopped getting excited by comments and messages years ago. Probably paranoia, but every time you get a generic response that refuses to mention any specifics of your story, or art, or even something as simple as character names, it just feels like a scam or business pitch. I repeat myself. Gives the internet this haunted graveyard feeling, like there's no one really alive out there.

'Course, makes the legitimate ones all the more meaningful. There's one reader who comments on every chapter I've uploaded, anticipating them and writing back are almost as much of the dance as uploading on time itself.

Alas, it's early; I ramble.

For my writing set up I have one of those tiny 60% keyboards. The sort that requires Fn to to use WASD as your arrow keys. It's tiny, compact and I adore it, but also my brain has a terrible habit of assuming any key held down is the Fn key. Sometimes when I mean to select text I'll hold down shift and be like, yep this is it, this is all I need, now to press the A key to navigate to the left and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Woke up this morning and stumbled onto tumblr. Saw a long post, a wish-list, for male protagonist traits. Things like: • Weird Hobbies • Awkward rather than Charming • Not a Sportser or hunter • Nor a wrestler, or a boxer • Far too soft for all that And I thought, sounds familiar. Perhaps a whispering of Foxtale.

I went to reply, just a quiet little nudge. But a misclick was all it took, banished to the twisting nether.

Consider this an elegy.
