Expression chart for Starfinder Alex. A little challenge to myself to make more expressive faces on the same character.

I'm alive! Just drowned deep in college and vacation (and college again!)
But now that Starfinder 2e is out I'm all in on the sci-fi fantasy whack train. We're starting a new campaign so I decided to revive an old man from the deep depths of my MMORPG (emphasis on RP) days -- This is Alex, once from WildStar, now transplanted from Nexus to the homebrew world my DM has made. A bounty hunter, and devil-may-care drifter, Alex keeps a healthy nonchalance to everything he encounters, but there's a bit of a painful and secretive past buried beneath the carefree façade.
He was an Exile Human Spellslinger in WildStar, but in Starfinder 2e he's a Human Operative with the Infiltrator specialization. I'd say more but one of the players in our group stalks my Tumblr and ended up spoiling herself on a few things for potential future campaign (that ended up iced for now) (PS: Bitch if you're reading this, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). Soooo here he is, revived from the depths of RP-limbo so his story can play out properly. His design is very much directly lifted from what he looked like in WildStar, with a few odds and ends added in.

"I'm sure we can come to a mutually-beneficial agreement, wouldn't you say?"
One of the upcoming BBEGs for a future Pathfinder 2e campaign idea we'll be exploring in our group. ;) This is Azravesh, ruler of the devil-worshipping nation of Azravesh and guardian of the first layer of the Hells, Nessos. In Azravean society, the mortal form is considered the pinnacle of intelligent, sentient design and worship of gods is forbidden, with the ultimate goal being to permanently get rid of the divine and establish mortal (and devilish) rule over all planes of existence.
To this end, I was told that Azravesh presents herself as a mere "humble" tiefling with a very human-like appearance, so I was pretty deliberate in designing her clothes to be "modest" in the sense that she foregoes any ostentatious displays of jewelry in favour of more strategically tasteful pieces of gold and simplistic iron cuffs. Her bare feet symbolize her "down to earth" nature, rooted to the ground to display how close she is to the mortal plane, and she refuses to wear any sort of robes or dress on her body, instead preferring to walk around in a simple skirt and drape herself in the stitched together contracts of the devils whose home layer she conquered for herself. As the gatekeeper between the mortal realm and the hells, she claims authority to act as the bridge between the two.
Still, even though she claims herself to be humble and foregoes the usage of a title that might imply her to be above her people, there's an inherent contradiction to Azravesh's mannerisms and the way she presents herself. She wears the trophies of her conquests on her skin, openly flaunts the attractiveness of her mortal form (and no, she doesn't wear any sort of underwear beneath, but you will never be worthy to glimpse her in her full glory!), incorporates the colours of literal royalty in her dress, and carries herself with an effortless air of aloof superiority that seems all too detached to the mortals she claims to champion -- Just don't point this out to her, or she'll likely eviscerate you with her sharp claws.

Ah, throwback to an oldie Illustration for an old 5e campaign that I played in 4 years ago! This is the final key art for Death Lurks Below, a nautical campaign with pirate politics, eldritch abominations, and a bunch of secrets! Characters from top to bottom, left to right:
Phaeydra, a Protector Aasimar Divine Sorceress (formerly a Fallen Aasimar Shadow Sorceress) - Me!
Noelani Kaimana, Human Path of the Storm Barbarian
Lance Leonemaister, Human Hexblade Warlock
Esmeralda, a Human Fighter (lord I forgot the subclass lmao)
Brynn Sylvaran, Air Genasi Lurker in the Deep Warlock
The basic premise of this campaign was us starting as a bunch of small fish working their way up from lowly origins and getting unintentionally tangled up in a conspiracy to bring back ancient unknowable beings beneath the waves that had been locked away by the gods to keep mortals from discovering the lost knowledge they carried of Aranor's pre-collective amnesia history.
In time, the gang manages to gain control of an entire fleet of ships and begins challenging the status quo of the Darian archipelago, changing pirate politics permanently and spearheading an uprising that sees the oppressive Darian admiralty knocked down a peg. Their adventures take them through vampire-infested manors, chaotic naval combat and exploding boats, and difficult questions on whether to allow an entire world to reacquire destructive, forbidden knowledge that nearly doomed the planet or let them forget the horrors they invented. In the end, the party chooses to allow free access to the eldritch kraken's lost knowledge.
Death Lurks Below is probably one of the most consequential campaigns for our homebrew world, as it left a bunch of decisions and plot hooks open that lead to the ascension of a new goddess of war and a bloody, seven year war that ravaged half a continent. What the circumstances of THAT whole shabang was about, I'll detail in another post, but it wasn't pretty. ;) Everyone in the party did luckily survive through the end, though it didn't come without a few sacrifices and a lot of tears!

To add onto this -- the entire game up to level 95 is free. Yes, there's some restrictions on F2P like swift travel, bag space and trait slots but simply subscribing for a month lets you unlock those permanently on whichever characters you've logged onto for the duration of the subscription. 🙃
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online, which is free-to-play through the entirety of "The Legacy of Angmar" as well as "The Mines of Moria" and the award-winning "Allies of the King" expansion, up to level 150 (if you can be bothered level-grinding that much) with no restrictions on play time?

The Grey Company sets out from Rivendell.
This is from last November! Inspiration kicked me in the face and I had to draw this scene of the Lads leaving the Last Homely House to go to their Doom... I am still completely obsessed with the way Lord of the Rings Online expanded upon what is only a footnote in the books, and took us on a journey of angst and heartbreak; so my plan is, as I replay the content, to illustrate every step and write a fic about my own character's involvement in it.
But yea. I cannot imagine the Grey Company without the Ranger NPCs from LOTRO anymore.. <: They are now canon and beloved to me. Here we have Lothrandir on tiny grey Mithul, Tirirandir (who is my character) on his borrowed horse Pîn, his best buddy Candaith on a liver chestnut I don't believe has a name (?) and Halbarad the gigachad with Arwen's banner.
I still have a love/hate relationship with the colours, but it's one of the better pieces of last year. 2024 in general was one of the better years in terms of personal art; I wholly attribute that to getting into drawing Tolkien fanart and discovering new communities!! After seven years of film school, I'm finally inspired and motivated again to create and share, and that's bliss to me!

Oh Shadowrun, how much I love your gritty mash-up of Cyberpunk dystopia and fantasy... if only your Rulebooks weren't so piss-poorly edited and your rules so needlessly complicated, lol. Oh, and Catalyst Game Labs sucks as a publisher.
This is an older art piece from 2022 showing my Technomancer who goes by the Runner name "Pulse". A corpo-baby rising starlet from Geneva who was primed to go to the Olympics for sharpshooting, her whole world came crashing down on her when it was discovered that she was a Technomancer, a human who was born with the innate ability to traverse the Matrix (Shadowrun's version of the 'Net) and control, hack and manipulate data. In Shadowrun lore, most people can only accomplish this through the use of cyberdecks they either carry or install on their body as cyberware, so needless to say, she was a rare commodity that her corporate overlords would inevitably want more control over.
Luckily, her own parents had the foresight to get her out of the corp's grubby hands before it was too late, and one unwilling extraction run later, she's found herself on the other side of the fence and forced to turn to shadowrunning to make ends meet, hoping to scrape up enough cash and influence to find and reconnect with her family, who have since gone MIA while arranging for their daughter's extraction.
She's sassy, cultured, and horribly out of her depth, so she tries to cover up her initial terror for this new "lifestyle" by projecting an aura of confidence and utter non-chalance at the situation -- though the idea of being on her own, free to do as she wishes without corporate oversight, proves to be an intoxicating draw towards the shadows...

Holy shit y'all when I made this blog as a primarily TTRPG art hobbyist I was not expecting this LOTRO-adjacent piece to be the thing a bunch of you would latch onto but hey I guess the people demand more rangers 😎
Tumblr media
Blackbeak, real name Corchereth (Roughly Sindarin for 'Friend of Crows'), a Dúnadan ranger who I created for a PBP The One Ring 2e game that unfortunately fell to the wayside a few months after start. Nowadays I play her in Strider Mode with my BF, who plays a Bree-lander that Corchereth gradually finds herself falling for (Ranger/Bree-lander is such an underrated pairing for drama holy shit). She also exists in the MMO LotRO as a Race of Man hunter.
I'm a bit of a sucker for aquiline noses on women, so I figured thematically a hooked nose would fit a ranger themed around crows and birds. She used to be called "Beaknose" as a kid but her Breeish paramour actually finds her nose quite beautiful and considers her pretty in her own unique way. 😜

A spooky gnome!
This is Tantillus Thimblethwick, an Oracle with the Ancestors curse and the Reanimator dedication. He belongs to my boyfriend :D
Tantillus used to live a relatively normal life as a relatively ordinary guardsman who was content to spend the rest of his days just doing mundane things and living a mundane existence. Growing up on stories that his family had all perished trying to fight the inevitability of the Bleaching, he hated the idea of stepping into the outside world and getting himself killed. So, he opted to stay sedentary -- then, he started Bleaching at the tender young age of 42.
And then, he started hearing his family's voices.
As it turns out, when all your dead ancestors attempted to avoid death by turning to necromancy, running away to never be heard of again, or trying to fight everything and everyone in the vicinity, those same ancestors were going to inevitably come back to see you finish the job and triumph over death. And boy, were they ever eager to share their opinions! So now, with the Bleaching taking hold, Tantillus has turned to adventure to try and prevent his slow but inevitable demise, along with some "helpful" advice and support from his family. In the process, he's managed to make a few friends, even found love along the way, so it seems he's got a bright future ahead of him -- if he doesn't die prematurely first!

Little silly comic doodle I made of Edgar and his crush and something that happened during a play session while the party was relaxing in a tavern. Half-Elven Hotness syndrome strikes again!

And here's a bonus image of the first panel without the text! Just two happy lil dorks dorking around and being cute. 😜

Such lovely and gorgeous warm colours! Cardolan's general colour palette in LotRO is a feast for the eyes if you ask me, questing there with Blackbeak was probably one of my favourite recent experiences.
Tumblr media
By day the countryside shone in vibrant red - red dirt, red rocks, and flecks of small red flowers that had given the kingdom its name. Under the light of the sun, it looked almost innocent. Suddenly, Tirirandir was swept with a surge of painful love for it, a love that each of his Cardolandrim ancestors must have felt the same. Oh, Old Cardolan, he thought, if only you are one day freed from darkness!
Tirnel in Cardolan full story here!

Hi ho! Here's one of my current Pathfinder 2e characters, an undercover Swashbuckler nobleman who goes by the name Edgar LeJeune (yes, literally the Young for those of you who speak French ;)) He is the Half-brother to my sunshine Paladin, Elifaen, and while he adores and idolizes her very much, he has a bit of an... inferiority complex when it comes to her deeds and accomplishments. He comes from a culture that's very focused on chivalry and heroic deeds, so being the brother of one of the most famous adventurers on the continent, he'd rather build his way up to his own fame rather than riding on his sister's coattails. It's very complicated. :')
He also has a bit of an issue in being the only heir to his mother's seat of power... while being gay in a pretty stratified and lineage-obsessed society. It's very, very complicated.

A cheerful little sunshine!
This is an oldie from 2021 when I still used to play 5e, but it's still one of my favourite art pieces. This is Elifaen of Nifeldeen, a young, idealistic Half-Elven Oath of the Ancients Paladin who started off as a disliked bastard to a baroness before deciding to run away with her father's glaive (the only connection she had left to him) to find him, fame and fortune. She took her oath pretty seriously and was pretty determined to "Be the Light" as much as possible, though she had a pretty dark and violent streak hidden underneath that sometimes came out during battle.
She did nevertheless go on to become a well-known hero across the continent, and eventually she earned her place among legends by being the only mortal (so far) to duel a goddess on her own and live to tell the tale, even if she did end up losing an eye and an arm in the process!
