Saving sign language – The Catalyst
Another great article to share but we think the current research shows ASL is the 4th most used language in USA, not 5th. Therefore it's, English, Spanish, French and ASL.
Will you learn American Sign Language today?
Hearing or deaf dogs can learn it too.

You think you can defy the will of your king? AU where King Runeard didn’t die in the battle. Elsa and Anna found him inside the forest with the rest of the Arendelle soldiers.

I had a really crappy weekend… had a whole plans for Memorial Day weekend. I suppose to see new action Lilo and Stitch Movie with my sister or dad and get the popcorn bucket then go to comic con for a day with my cousin then we meet my friend up there. All of this ruined because I did not know I will end up in the hospital for severe excruciating side pain and chest pain. Found out I have lung infection and pneumonia! I’ve been in this hospital since Friday! Today I possibly won’t be discharged because my levels are kept dropping low 😖😫😢

You think you're an introvert because you like being alone, but maybe it's not about solitude. Maybe it's about peace. Maybe it's the quiet you've fought so hard to protect. Maybe it's the safety of your own company, after being around too many people who made you feel like too much or not enough. You smile differently around people who bring you calm. You speak more. You laugh louder. You come alive in rooms where your soul doesn't shrink. You're not afraid of connection. You're just tired of surviving it. So don't confuse your boundaries with isolation. Don't confuse your quiet with disinterest. You're not closed off. You're just waiting for someone who feels like home, not a battlefield.

There's Magic In our Veins
Elsa and King Agnarr (Frozen)
This is an expansion and redrawing of this piece -> There’s Magic In Our Veins
I had the idea of redoing the artwork back in December of 2023 but then just... left it in the middle of the process for a looooong ass time. It's been a solid year+ now since I last worked on it, ngl. But I always liked the og idea of it and the idea of Elsa's magic coming from her father's side of the family (which was a theory that had gone around Tumblr before the 2nd movie was a thing.
I did my best to just clean up the things I needed too to just get it out! I really just wanted to get it done, but like, with a lot of love, cause I'm still very fond of it even if I have a lot of nit picks of past me's lines 😂
Anyway, I love these two to bits 🥺 maybe this'll give me the little push I need to go back to my Frozen fics. SIGH. Maybe.

I don’t care what people say about frozen two, Anna singing the song “some things never change” to comfort Olaf (and probably herself) only for everything in her life to change and be overturned, including the death of her sister, one of her best friends, and coming to terms with destroying her home which creates the perfect trifecta of “everything I’ve ever known and loved is gone” in order to help a group of people she knows so little about except that her ancestors deeply wronged them is absolutely insane. It might not be as iconic as the first one and there’s the whole “the deaths aren’t permanent so they don’t matter” thing but Anna doesnt know that! She’s in a cave with one of her best friends and as he dies thats how she finds out that her sister is also dying and she stays in that feeling and makes the choice to stand up, leave the cave, and to destroy her home thinking that she will never see them again. Do I adore Elsa? Yes but Anna overcomes her grief of losing two of the most important people in her life TO HELP PEOPLE SHE BARELY KNOWS BECAUSE SHE THINKS THEY DESERVE IT! She deserves to be queen I’m taking so arguments.

I've noticed that people tend to think legally blind people are the same as completely blind people. As in needing braille or someone reading out loud or canes or having to use speech to text. We don't.
I'm legally blind, I just wear glasses. What being legally blind means is that you just have really really shit eyesight and need really thick glasses. And you can really only take them off if your eyes are closed.
Granted glasses for legally blind are very expensive because the lenses are very thick, and the prescription is very high. Lower middle-class families can really only afford one pair of glasses.

hi! i'm a person with a visual impairment. the term i prefer to use for myself is "low vision". my visual field and acuity are low enough to qualify as legally blind. i use a white cane, a screen reader, special contrast and magnification settings, and i'm learning braille.
i want to clarify, because a lot of people in the notes seem to be confused about the terminology, that legal blindness means that your eyesight is past the threshold where visual aids give you normal vision; that threshold is determined by a series of territorial laws, hence the term 'legally.' I feel the need to clarify because often people will conflate bad eyesight that can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses, but generally the definition of blindness and its spectrum hinges on this condition: that even with corrections, your vision remains largely altered.
a lot of people think that if you describe yourself as blind it means you have absolutely no vision, which is why a lot of us end up using terms like "legally blind" or "low vision", but honestly, i feel like a lot of folks aren't aware of the sheer amount of variations in vision that exist. blind is also an umbrella term that encompasses all this variance.
here's some facts that the sentence "blindness is a spectrum" hopes to encompass:
Most people aren't born fully blind
There are many causes for vision loss, and many comorbidities
Depending on the condition, different parts of the visual process will be affected, which means that the way each of us sees can be very different even in an umbrella term
Another fact for you is that in some countries, even if you qualify as legally blind, the limits to driving are slightly different so someone can be legally blind and still be able to drive. Usually this has to do with whether the vision issue affects the visual activity needed for driving. Some people will still use glasses even if the correction is minimal. i use glasses, even though they don't make much of a difference, and i am allowed to drive by law in my country, even though i can't see well enough to do a lot of things.
i am posting this because the ignorance in the disco elysium fandom about my disability has brought forward some really deep-seated ableism to my inbox and i wanted to shed light on these topics. i hope it's helpful.

Legal Blindness
When people ask “what do blind people see,” I often hear things like “literally nothing, they don’t see black because they literally can’t see.” And that’s true…for some blind people.
However, many legally blind people do have varying degrees of remaining vision. What that looks like depends a lot on why they are blind. For example, when asked to describe her vision in 2012, Christine Hà said it was “like if you take a really hot shower and then you look into the foggy bathroom mirror, where you only see vague shapes and shadows.” Christine was not born with this level of vision; she has Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder, so she progressively lost vision later in life.
There is a wide range of answers to “what do blind people see,” so I wanted to provide just a few resources for people who are curious or want to write a blind character with some remaining vision. While looking up various conditions on medical sites is a good starting point, nothing beats first-hand experience.

i don't think people take me too serious when i say i'm legally blind. Like, guys I am legally never allowed to drive, I need assistance with a lot of stuff because I can't see. People both irl and online tend to be like "oh but you're not THAT BAD OFF" it's not a thing of whether my eyes are "that bad off" it doesn't matter, they're still blind. i still use magnifying and screen readers. i'm learning braille because my eyes are getting progressively worse and I'd like to be able to still read.
I may not be totally blind, but that's the thing, a lot of blind people AREN'T Totally blind. Blindness is a spectrum. and i don't think a lot of people realize that. And I'm just as valid in my blindness as someone on the spectrum with better eyesight than me, or someone with worse.
(This is OK to reblog. I hope that sighted people who might read this really get it into their heads that blindness is a spectrum...)
