Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.

I saw your post about Moshang courting and did you read the fic "50% of All Marriages End in Divorce"? Because it is hilarious. Mobei-jun tries the demon way of courting but it doesn't work. So he searches for new idea/sources and these are the best. 😂 (no spoiler from me)

Bookmarked! Oh, mbj, you are truly a romantic sap searching for ways to communicate your love, and not a single damn person will tell you to just SAY it. comedy of errors type shenanigans. the bard would be proud.

What if Shen Yuan gets a petty princess boyfriend because the universe (I) said so.
-wrote a little ficlet about them under the cut ✨-
Shen Yuan's (very confused) POV:
You know, there are days you wake up and think, “Wow, life is weird.” And then there are days you wake up and there's a beautiful, irritated, probably-came-from-a-period-drama man sitting on your couch like he owns the place, glaring at your toaster like it personally offended his ancestors.
Yeah. I’m talking about that kind of day.
It started, as these things always do, with a thunderclap, some suspiciously glittery mist, and the next thing I knew, there was a very angry, very elegant man standing in the middle of my studio apartment. He looked around my humble little man-cave—okay, fine, it was a bit of a pig sty. I wasn't expecting visitors—and sneered so hard I thought his face would stay that way forever.
“This is your abode?” he asked, with the same tone I use when I accidentally step in dog poop.
“Uh,” I said intelligibly. “Yes…?”
He hissed. Hissed. Like a very angry, very pretty feral cat. It was alarming. And a little hot? No, stop that, Shen Yuan. Bad. No petting the murder kitty.
So. A quick summary: the stranger introduced himself—begrudgingly—as Shen Jiu.
A handsome stranger.
And he was in my house.
Living in my apartment.
Breathing my air.
Criticizing my instant ramen choices like he wasn’t literally eating all of them.
“You eat like a beggar,” he said yesterday, sipping tea he made himself after complaining my kettle was ‘barbaric’. “This isn't sustenance. It's punishment.”
Okay. One: accurate. Two: rude.
But we fell into a rhythm after a few weeks, somehow. Like a weird little odd-couple sitcom. Every morning, I’d wake up to Shen Jiu curled in a pile of throw blankets on my futon, looking like a disgruntled Persian cat. He hated the TV but would still watch it with a kind of horrified fascination. He especially hated anime. That was… a problem.
The turning point came when he caught me watching some over the top shonen anime and heard me make a passing comment about the protagonist’s abs.
“You like that?” he asked, voice tight. “You like him?”
“What? No, I—” I laughed, awkward. “It’s just anime—”
He made a sound like someone dropped a piano on his pride and turned off the laptop with a single disdainful poke of a button.
“You’re not allowed to look at other men,” he said, eyes narrowed.
“…What?”
“You heard me,” he said, as if that explained anything and then settled on my lap.
Then he stole my glasses.
He literally plucked them off my face like a bully on the schoolyard and perched them on his own perfectly arched nose.
I stared. Squinted, really. “I’m legally blind.”
“Good,” he snapped. “Then you can’t ogle those fake men anymore. Who draws them like that anyway? It’s obscene.”
“Jiu-ge,” I said gently. “Um… Can I have my glasses back please?”
“For what? To look at other men? I don’t think so.”
Never—and I mean never—has anyone been so furiously jealous of fictional anime boys that they physically robbed me of my glasses. It was almost impressive.
And I let him keep them.
Why? Because the alternative was him going back into Feral Mode™ where he hisses and threatens to set my bookshelf on fire with qi that I still don’t believe exists in this universe.
Besides… I didn’t mind the glasses thing so much when he was situated on my lap like I was his personal throne.
“You’re warm,” he said, nonchalant, like this was normal. Like he didn't came from a completely different reality.
“Cool,” I wheezed, not cool at all.
“You’re flustered,” he added, smug.
I was. But I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of admitting it. Instead, I tried to focus on the dead screen of my laptop, even if everything was blurry.
So now I’m trapped in a never-ending loop of being lowkey bullied by a man with cheekbones sharp enough to commit murder, who eats all my ramen, hoards my glasses, gets jealous of anime characters, and has absolutely no concept of personal space.
And you know what the worst part is?
I think I might like it.
Please send help.
…Or not.

And he is done! Well except for the wig... But yeah a very very fun project. Only made possible by the lovely @k0mmari and their incredible Endless Abyss Travel Guide!
I mainly pulled the base from this version of the Watcher design, but stuff like the pattern of the fabric of the skirt and the inside of the sleves were inspired by this eg the og form and the idea of the incorporeality of the Watchers. Going along with that I added 2.5 cm horsehair braid to the edge of the skirt to get it to be a bit flowy to keep that illusion going.
Hand in hand with that goes that I decided that I wanted to wear a bodysuit underneath the robes to emulate "skin so pale it looks almost grey" (paragraph 35) and me not having to worry about binding or body paint.
The robes are a modified hanfu pattern, the only difference is that I had to rotate the placement of the sleeves in the armhole bc they woudnt fall correctly if I didnt do that. Same with the skirt, it started as pants but they didnt look correctly so I made them into a skirt.
I really really like the beading I did for the center pieces of both the belt and the collar. The different fabric textures and different types of beads give it some really nice dimension.
As for the belt piece itself... According to the research I did into fu talisman it seemed like it wasnt okay to just emulate the look for funsies 1:1 so I couldve either done gibberish or actual chinese characters for mine. After a good friend of mine weighed into that I ended up using actual characters, some that relate to the design/story and some funny ones as well. (Spot the cucumber salad)
Anyway I was also very happy to have found this off-white cotton that I used on the tabard (?)/scapular (??), the collar and the sleeves. I think the print works wonderfully with the overall design and ties everything together.
Ill will probably wear the costume at a con next month but I have no idea how to plan a photoshoot for him in regards to the location. Recommendations are very welcome :)

One of my wips is meant to be dark and angsty and have dubious consent and manipulation and it features OG Shang Qinghua/Airplane Qinghua
Problem: everytime I try to deal with the Mobei Jun issue the Mobei Jun in my head like:
Tumblr media
Which is a big deflection in tone
OG Shang Qinghua hates you in this fic Mobei. He wants your Qinghua all to himself! Stop trying to seduce him like a 30 year old trying to seduce a bisexual girl at the bar with his wife.
Your wife doesn't even know he's your wife! This isn't going to work!

Ways I Write a Woman...
➤ Who’s Tired of Being Talked Over
You ever watch someone hold in a scream behind their teeth? That’s her, constantly.
✧ She starts choosing her words like landmines. Each one is sharp, controlled, and timed like a threat. She’s learned that being polite won’t get her listened to, but sounding like you might flip a table will. ✧ She’s mastered the art of the silence that feels loud. Doesn’t fill awkward gaps. Just lets the discomfort sit in the air like smoke. ✧ She explains things with forced calm, the kind that sounds like a teacher asking a second-grade class why the hamster is missing. ✧  She notices interruptions like bruises. She doesn’t react to them anymore, not out loud. But you can bet she counts them. ✧ She repeats herself less. Not because they understood her the first time. Because they never listened anyway. ✧ She’s learned how to weaponize eye contact. Not in a sexy way. In a “I will set this boardroom on fire with my mind” way. ✧ Her voice only shakes when she’s deciding if it’s worth the explosion.
➤ Who’s Been Called ‘Too Much’ Her Whole Life
She isn’t too much. She’s just tired of shrinking for people who were never going to make room anyway.
✧ She says the thing you’re not supposed to say. Then stares at you to see what you’ll do with it. ✧ She’s loud with her laugh, loud with her grief, loud with her love, because if she’s going to be punished for being “extra,” she might as well be honest about it. ✧ She over-explains. Over-apologizes. Then catches herself and stops halfway through the sentence. ✧  She tries to “tone it down” and ends up sounding like a censored version of herself, bland, miserable, unfinished. ✧ She edits her texts four times, deletes the paragraph, sends “haha ok :)” instead. ✧ She keeps her hands busy because otherwise they’d be doing something reckless. ✧  She overcompensates with sarcasm and then goes home and wonders if everyone hates her. ✧  She’s loved fiercely. Regretted it more fiercely. ✧  She walks into a room like she owns it, and then spends the entire time wondering if she should have stayed home.
➤ Who Wants to Be Soft but Doesn’t Feel Safe
She's gentle, but that gentleness lives under twenty layers of armor. And most people never even get past the first. ✧  She’s careful with her compliments, she knows how people weaponize kindness. ✧  She keeps her vulnerability behind locked doors and guards them with jokes, sarcasm, and “I’m just tired.” ✧ She’ll comfort others like she was born to do it, but flinch if someone offers her the same. ✧ She avoids mirrors on bad days. Eye contact on good ones. ✧ She cries where no one can see. Car bathrooms. Locked bedrooms. Grocery store parking lots at night. ✧ She doesn’t ask for help. Not because she doesn’t need it, but because the last time she did, it came with a price. ✧ She’s soft with animals, with children, with strangers, but not herself. Never herself. ✧ She daydreams about being taken care of, then immediately gets mad at herself for wanting something so “weak.” ✧ She wants love, but she’s terrified of being known. Because if someone really saw her? What if they didn’t stay?
And if you’re sitting there reading all of that thinking, “God, I don’t even know how to write women like this…” Please know: you’re not alone. Like, really not alone.
Writing female characters in a way that feels true, nuanced, and unapologetically real isn’t just about avoiding clichés. It’s about unlearning everything you were taught about what women are “supposed” to be on the page. It’s about getting underneath the polish. Past the performative strength. Past the “she’s not like other girls” and the “strong but broken” tropes. Past the idea that softness is weakness and rage is unlikable.
So many people struggle with this, not because they don’t care, but because no one ever really taught them how to see women as people first.
A lot of us grew up reading female characters written through a lens that flattened us. Made us background noise, love interests, plot devices, or emotionally bulletproof when we weren’t emotionally unstable. It’s no wonder we’re all trying to figure out how to do better now. I write a Book about How to Write Women that feel Alive... For you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the chapters ahead, we’re going to unravel that mess, together (Promise). We’ll talk about...
❥ Tropes — the ones worth reclaiming, and the ones you can toss into the fire. ❥ The psychology of a woman — how conditioning, survival, identity, and inner conflict shape her from the inside out. ❥ Female vs. male conflict — not in a “boys suck” way, but in a “our emotional battlegrounds are different and that matters” way. ❥ Expectations — society’s, her own, and how characters shrink or shatter under them. ❥ Emotions as strength — especially the ones she was taught to hide: fear, grief, longing, joy, rage. ❥ Female anger — what happens when she finally stops holding it in. ❥ Archetypes — and how to subvert them without erasing the truths they come from. ❥ Female friendships — no more cardboard “bestie” side characters. ❥ Romantic relationships — what it means when she’s finally seen. Chosen. Or rejected. ❥Mothers, daughters, and sisters — because female relationships deserve more than being backstory. ❥ Dialogue — how she speaks when she’s safe vs. when she’s scared. ❥ Inner conflict and development — her arc isn’t about fixing her. It’s about letting her evolve. ❥ Writing exercises — to help you get past the noise and write from a place that feels real. ❥ A full checklist for writing female OCs — layered, powerful, contradictory, alive.
This isn’t a rulebook. It’s a guide. A toolbox. A comfort blanket. A callout. A reminder that writing women doesn’t have to feel impossible, you just have to be willing to look a little deeper.
So if you’ve ever felt stuck writing a female character… If you’ve defaulted to tropes because you didn’t know how else to make her “interesting”… If you’ve erased her emotions to make her “strong”… Or if you’ve stared at the page wondering why she still doesn’t feel real...This book is for you.
And I promise, by the time you reach the last chapter? You’ll not only know how to write her. You’ll understand her. And maybe even see a little of yourself in the process.
Love u All!!🖤

I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.

yeah golden retreiver boyfriends are great and I've met several personally, but personally I have a house cat boyfriend
extremely affectionate despite of seeming aloof and politely distant to unfamiliar people
my friends have seen him irl less than 5 times in the five years I've had him - if I invited people over he would hide under furniture until they're gone
haha you got up from your work desk, time for unskippable 35 minutes of kisses and cuddles
can and will throw up out of sheer anxiety because Things And Events Are Happening that do not even involve him in any way
can instinctively sense exactly when I am going to decide I'm done bedrotting and will climb on top of me to cuddle exactly 3 minutes before I was just about to get up
can be placed sideways on any soft surface at any time of the day and immediately takes a five hour nap
cannot eat or drink in unfamilair places. can and will go 16 hours without food or water if the situation is uncomfy.
unhelpful but valiant efforts to try to protect and rescue you from things and situations that he would personally hate being in, out of not understanding of Why Are You In There Voluntarily
will come show me incomprehensible memes the same way a cat will bring you a random bug. thank you. I do not understand it but I know you brought it to me because you love me.

FWIW, I'm most of the way through writing part one of two of a fic for the beast peak AU I made with my wife @/othersharkss. Will share a link once it's up. o7 It answers some of the questions people have had based on the art, but if you have any last-minute ones, you could toss them my way and I'll consider incorporating them.
