I just love that canon Watson has Holmes’s different moods categorized, memorized, and named. He’s like: Ah yes, Holmes is smoking his wood pipe instead of the usual clay, that means he’s on his period.

I’m so glad Arthur Conan Doyle got bullied into bringing Sherlock Holmes back from the dead, because imagine if he didn’t. Imagine a world where the story of Holmes and Watson always ends in tragedy and separation. Instead we get to live in a world where it feels like they are always out there together somewhere.

Steven Moffat would NEVER set up the profile of a suspect in order to have Holmes say, frantically, "I'm looking for a man in finance! Trust fund! Six-five, blue eyes!"

I love how short Victorian novels are, it makes me feel much better about the length of my own stuff
I feel like there's something neat about classic books.
Like, my super awesome teacher bought the stock from the website Global Grey before it went down, and he gave it to me.
Most of it is classics. Virginia Woolfe's "To the Lighthouse," Bram Stoker's "Dracula," Rudyard Kipling and poetry and beauty.
It's shorter than some would think. A lot shorter. I'm reading The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Yeah, that's Sherlock. And in the first three chapters, you get a story about a horrible wretched dog killing a rapist, Watson being so cool and awesome, this freak dude wanting to put Sherlock's skull in a museum and touch it, and Sherlock himself consuming two large pots of coffee and copious amounts of opium.
Fifteen pages. FIFTEEN.
Do you see what I mean? I love it. It's quick-paced and actionable. There's no push-back from a stupid publishing company to write "just two chapters more" or to write 100k.
No. None of that.
Read the classics. They love you. You'll love them.

Am I in the whole Sherlock Holmes fandom? Not even slightly. Do I know anything besides the very baseline thing of murder mystery and them being friends (?) or roommates or something? No, I have no idea about anything that has to do with it. Have I read a 50k Sherlock x Watson fic (I don’t know their ship name, sue me), yes I did read it. In a day.
