     JUSTIN LIKES PEOPLE. Everyone is likable in his eyes, particularly in his school. And of all those people, no one is more likable than Peter. The kid was kind of weird, sure (seriously, who ENJOYS science? Justin can’t understand that). And yeah, Peter was maybe a little awkward and dorky. But the funny thing is, so is Justin. How can they not get along? They do homework together, they hang out and watch old movies. They talk about heroes and hopes and dreams and Justin finds himself wanting to spend more time with this kid over anyone else. 

     WHAT THEY DIDN’T talk about, however, is the critical period in Justin’s life when NAOMI entered their world. They talked about Naomi herself, of course. Because (local pansexual disaster) Justin can’t shut up when he sees pretty people (which is also why Justin’s other friends have been getting countless earfuls concerning one Peter Parker). They talk about Justin asking Naomi out to prom, they talk about him doing her homework. But they absolutely did not talk about Justin’s decision to buy drugs for her. 

     WHICH, IN RETROSPECT, maybe Justin should have spoken to him about. Because Peter was sensible. And Peter maybe could have talked him out of it. But Justin had decided to discuss that plan with exactly nobod, and now he was paying the price for us. A week in JAIL, any hope of going to college thrown out the window, his entire future had just CRUMBLED, and all for a girl he’d liked, a girl who’d turned out to be a COP with no remorse for tricking a kid into metaphorically ending his life. 

     HE AND HIS mom were currently on rocky ground, avoiding each other all the time. When she was home, Justin stayed out. When she went off to work, he quietly slipped back into their apartment and took refuge in his room. Ever since the arrest, he’d been ignoring his friends, especially Peter, because he didn’t want to have that conversation with them. So really, he shouldn’t be surprised when he hears knocking on the window and finds Peter standing on the fire escape, a none-too-pleased look on his face. Justin could have just IGNORED him, put in his earbuds and turn away from the window and pray that the other boy just left. But he opens the window for him against his better judgment, before going back to his bed and flopping down onto his back.

     ELIZA STARES AT her husband for a long moment, lips tugged down in a concerned frown. She hadn’t woken when he got up, but she can only sleep so long before she becomes aware of his ABSENCE. She isn’t surprised to find him here, of course, but that doesn’t do anything to calm the worry inside her. She knows Alexander, she’s become an expert in reading his body language and the tones of his voice. So the moment he opens his mouth and speaks, Eliza immediately gets a sense of the problem. And there is simply no way she can leave him on his own when he’s that upset. She hesitates a moment longer before closing the distance between them, choosing to lean against his desk before offering him a gentle look.

     “WE DON’T HAVE to talk,” she says. And she leaves it at that. Her tone makes it CLEAR she’s not leaving, she plans on sitting with him until she feels he’s okay.

    ALEXANDER SITS hunched over his desk, wet face carefully hidden from view even as the gravel of his voice reveals what he wishes to hide. There’s a half empty glass of scotch in front of him and a throw pulled haphazardly over his shoulders ( all these years in America and he still can’t take the cold ) and his habits read clear to anyone that knows him; another nightmare had awakened him with a cold sweat and a churning stomach, pushing him from his warm bed as not to alert anyone to the fits of tears which so often followed the disturbances to his sleep. He sniffs, wipes his face, turns his head with a tight smile.

   “GO BACK to sleep, don’t let me disturb your rest.”

Muses can be fickle, fickle things and I shouldn’t have to say this but when dipshits come out with stuff like ‘take your time doesn’t mean you can reply to something else’ — actually, it does with me.

Anybody who plots with me, RPs with me, even talks to me; I love.  Dearly.  And when they reply I squeal like a mad thing because omg the flawless (seriously).

RPing is meant to be fun, lovelies.  Don’t suck the fun out of it by being passive aggressive and a bit of a twat by saying shit things like that.

THE VEGETABLES WERE dropped carefully into the pot, and alex gave them a good stir before placing the chopping board in the sink and making his way down the hall to Conrad. He leaned against the doorframe and offered his boyfriend a soft smile. “The violin’s sounding good today.”

ALEX could hear the violin from his current spot in the kitchen. The weather was finally going DOWNHILL, getting cold enough where the island boy had taken to wearing fuzzy socks and sweatshirts all over the house. It was a good excuse to make a large pot of soup, though, and that was exactly what he was up to. It was his mother’s old recipe, he’d memorized it when he was young and made it whenever it got cold. The violin had been PLEASANT background, noise, playing a song he definitely recognized. Alex didn’t actually realize he’d begun singing along, swinging his hips slightly with the tune as he chopped vegetables for the dish.

THE WHOLE THING is a mere game of politics. Kings have to take spouses. Normally, a king is expected to take himself a queen. But John, heir to this whole country, is not what many called “normal”. It’s not entirely a secret to the few TRUSTWORTHY advisors in the palace that John has an intense preference for men. It’s also not a secret to those few people that he had struck up a highly scandalous relationship with one Alexander Hamilton, a servant whose intelligence and charm had swept the prince right off his feet. 

SO, THE ADVISORS searched and searched until another prince was found that shared John’s preferences. They said Lafayette was kind, that he would be a perfect fit for the crown prince. They made it clear that this wasn’t a suggestion. The other prince was coming, intent on taking John’s hand in marriage. John supposed there were worse fates. He could be forced to marry a woman. But laying out in the grassy garden he had worked on with his mother as a child, Alexander tucked into his side, he can’t help but feel like the whole thing was entirely UNFAIR.

“I SHOULDN’T HAVE to marry anyone else,” he huffs, pressing his nose into the smaller male’s hair. “I want to marry you, no one else. This isn’t fair.”
