Hello Flea,
Things went well last mission! Everyone’s doing fine! Not only did you not have any problems, you also got to go on so many fun side quests! You met so many interesting people! On the subject of people, who would you say the most fun person you met in Oltira was?
Sincerely, an investigative fan.
Hello investigative fan! Heh.. yeah, Oltira sure was a busy one, huh? Well, okay, I detect some sarcasm in your tone, investigative fan, but the mission *did* go relatively well. Most of the things we accomplished in Oltira were really important. And everyone is fine! No one got too significantly hurt from the things in Oltira, at least.
Okay, that's not true.
Ophelia almost died.
Ioun really ought to take better care of her vassals.
Even if she wasn’t in mortal danger because of the Arcanight, getting hurt that much still probably sucked, and given how frail Ophelia is one or two good hits from the Sea Witch’s servants likely really could’ve killed her, I don’t know if Ioun would’ve resurrected her if that happened, (getting resurrected sucks) though regardless I don’t understand why Ophelia chose to… stay, or even go in the first place if the Arcanight was on the board. Was her presence required to cause Mortryck to forget the bottle? Did Ioun expect all of us + the Arcanight to be present at the deal and put a stop to it entirely? Whatever…. I don’t think I like her knowing about me. Tangent on strange religious figures aside! Yeah, everyone is fine! Elle and Mielle seemed to be doing better after a bit, too, so that’s good.
Admittedly! The side quests started being not super fun after the Blue Star retrieval :( (But the blue star was extremely worth it! Vanatheia is the coolest. Ow- no stop scratching me- Sif- st- dragon- coolest dragon- I was gonna say coolest dragon.)
As for the most fun person we met in Oltira, I pick Zsofia! Truly an Illusion Chess prodigy that girl, especially impressive since the game is a week old. Circumstances of us meeting her aside, I’m.. It’s really good that she’s free now. And she’s a nice kid! Despite what she says…If she really couldn’t care less about anything except wanting to kill things, she would just... not travel with us. She continues to do so.
Speaking of killing, it’s a little strange, but I sorta respect her for wanting her revenge, y’know. I was pretty set on killing those two bastards anyway if she were like the rest of her friends. Dunno if it's the relatability of it or something else, but felt just a little proud of her when she said she wanted to kill the priests. Something about not just accepting your circumstances… It would have been fine if she didn’t want revenge, of course. But, at least, I think I get where she’s coming from more than those other kids.
…I really want to help her. I haven’t ever had to be completely alone despite everything, so I don’t want that for her either. Want her to have a life and not be alone. I can tell she’s trying hard already!
And she’s maybe linked with the Fell, so I’m not sure yet! But maybe she has sorcerous potential! Could be exciting to teach someone magic if she’s into that sort of thing! I need to stop.
Thanks for all your months of continued support, Mr. Fan! Please keep watching over me as I get involved in many more evil contracts with supernatural creatures!
And jokes on you, Hallucination-Augustian, Z hasn’t tried to kill me even once!
Sincerely, THE FOOL

Flea,
Overconfidence requires a person to think that one posses more power than they actually have. And that simply is not the case with me. I know exactly how much power I wield.
If your attempt to disguise your nature ways genuine, it was quite pitiful. I am now inclined to believe that someone did bring you back to life. Possibly in an attempt to gain a tool to use against me. While the most likely explanation is still that your own feelings towards me provided you with enough energy to return as some kind of ethereal undead, your resurrection by some individual is a much more believable occurrence than you somehow returning as a vampire.
It seems that since your revivial, you have visited my tower, and survived. Though you failed to learn the lesson that surviving my greatest treasure was meant to instate in you. Tragic.
But enough deductions. I am here to question you, not flaunt my intellect.
You are right. Perhaps if I want to get clear answers, I should invite you to my castle. It have been years since we’ve talked face to face.
But wherever should I send this invitation too?
Where do you live, Flea?
Yours, Lena.
Dear Lena,
Flaunting of intellect requires a person to possess any.
Overconfidence in another more practical sense relates to an individual’s ability (the lack thereof) to assess their own power in relation to their opponent’s and consequently adopting an appropriate level of cautiousness. You earnestly believe that you will not be defeated. However, you know nothing of your enemy.
This excess of belief will only hasten your demise when we meet.
Moving on!
Pitiful? heh…that’s rude. Or well it would be. It wouldn’t be any fun to give completely direct answers now would it!! Your ask– asked what kinda undead I was. Not exactly a valid query. And Vampire is a clever allusion to several things if I do say so myself. A flea can be quite the vicious blood-sucker. And I believe I made sure to leave plenty of hints in that previous response, you seemed to have reached a different conclusion. I’m sure there are more interesting guesses you could have made.
My own feelings towards you! Aww you really think I love you that much, Lena? Heh. yeah, pretty sure that whole passing fancy ended the moment I learnt you were closer to like…..thirty than whatever I was thinking. (Hahhh. you’re old.) (gross!)
…
What did my half-assed impression of your girlfriend give it away? Let’s see, you boringly didn’t leave much room for interpretation by essentially narrating the supposed moral at the end. Winter does not feel bla bla bla. Ooh, tricksters who presume and insist winter has feelings, get frozen alive forever.
Though! Since your greatest treasure is a story. And I didn’t much like that lesson.
Here’s a different interpretation:
You hate yourself for it.
Well anyway! Yeah that, and you sure do seem to care about magic. And learning new things, and whatever you’re trying to accomplish with Mielle. And maybe playing the role of winter (not sure about this one.)
You’re driven.
Something drives you. Maybe that something is a little different from everyone else. Maybe you feel it a lot less than everyone else. Though–
Well the trickster did already say this didn’t she.
No need to send an invitation! I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of each other soon enough. You can do your best to freeze me for saying all these hurtful things then!
As for the answer to your question? Just a nameless tavern. Sincerely, the flea
p.s - should’ve reallyyyyyyyyyyyyy made Vasil immune to cold damage.

Hello Flea.
What type of undead are you? I am curious to learn through what means you where able to return to life.
Yours, Lena
Most Honorable and Distinguished Queen of Winter,
My good witch, I am terribly afraid that this missive has found its way to the wrong hands, for I have not the faintest inkling of who this "Flea" might be. And yet, I must admit, the subject of your inquiry is nothing short of fascinating. To defy the grave itself and return to the realm of the living—especially in a manner unknown even to the great and most illustrious Madam Snow Witch—is a feat most unsettling, and perhaps, one might dare say, awe-inspiring—
Pfft. Hahahaha.
Sorry! Sorry! Couldn’t make it through the entire bit without laughing.
But congrats! One point to Lena! You have deduced my identity correctly! I have returned! And I am going to change everything.
And pretty confident in this whole undead hypothesis aren’t we! Doesn’t seem like the makings of a good scientific mind to be so sure. And rude! I’m plenty interesting, many entities want me. You might even be familiar with a few.
Regardless, you’re totally right.
I’m a spooky vampire.
Are you spooked?
If you’re curious about how this happened invite me to the castle and I’ll tell you all about it best friend!!
…
You should fix that overconfidence of yours or this game is gonna get really boring.
(not) Yours,
Flea

Hello Flea,
You know Mielle isn’t going to stay with you forever, right? Be it the Witch, you, or something else you couldn’t have foreseen, something is going to take her away from you.
How far are you willing to go to keep her safe by your side? How much does she need to be protected?
Sincerely, an overprotective fan.
Hey Overprotective fan,
Thanks for the ask!
> You know Mielle isn’t going to stay with you forever, right?
Yeah man, one of us is going to die eventually! If you mean before that. The thought has crossed my mind once or twice sure! I don’t know anything though. You seem rather pessimistic! Root for me to win instead!
> Be it the Witch, you, or something else you couldn’t have foreseen, something is going to take her away from you.
Pretty definitive man, I think it probably depends.
> Be it the Witch.
Good ol’ Lena huh, well yeah she probably could if she wanted Mielle back really hard. There’s some complicated stuff happening there for sure. It’s not like I haven’t noticed the Novella similarities.
Elaina can probably find Mielle real easy if she wanted. It would be sad if she showed up to take her. Trying to kill her anyway though so I’m sure eventually I’ll find Mielle again if that happens. I’m hoping her whole fake “winter doesn’t feel” schtick makes her not bother for a bit so I can get strong enough to kill anything she sends after us. If she does at all! She could also not! Think positive thoughts mister overprotective fan!
Hope that bitch dies alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
> You.
Ooh like some evil Flea clone? Could be scary. I can probably handle anything Flea throws at me that dude sucks.
> Or something else you couldn’t have foreseen.
What can I say the narrative loves me. If something unforeseen happens, in that case, I’ll just have to figure something out.
> How far are you willing to go to keep her safe by your side?
Pretty far! Doesn’t have to be my side specifically (though preferable! I’d miss her too much If she has to stay somewhere else) but I also want her happy.
How far specifically is a good question though, I’d be willing to like, kill a bunch of people if they go after her? Die? Ban the dying plan to secure killing the witch? …….stop trying?
Anyway yeah! Vaguely around there. Not gonna turn super morally corrupt and start killing civilians or gracers or anything.
> How much does she need to be protected?
Dunno! She shouldn’t have anyone else after her other than potentially Lena.
Maybe she’s secretly super strong now and doesn’t need protection at all and genuinely maybe the worst thing that will happen to her if she goes back to the castle is that she’ll be lonely and have to listen to Lena go on another dumb arcane history lecture…whose to say!
I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a fucking ice castle with Lena that sounds like, worse than death! So yeah if Mielle needs help I’m gonna help her the best I can.
About covers it.
Thanks for the ask.

In the Larks D&D campaign, the player characters belong to the Gracers, a subsection of the chruch of Ioun dedicated to monster hunting, that frequently makes use of convicted criminals to bolster its ranks.
Here are some of the people they have had to work with.

Steve, you aren’t scared of Pearl now, are you? She seems to be the only one who agrees that your situation is ridiculous! Besides, she explicitly said she wouldn’t eat you! No meat on your bones, too small :)
Of course I’m scared of her! She’s a sea monster that eats people!
Saying that you won’t eat someone is totally a trick monsters use to trick people into trusting them! There’s no way I’m going to fall for that!
The fact that the only person who sympathizes with my situation is a people-eating fish monster just goes to show how messed up my life is!

mumrik needs to shut the hell up…
Hey Seagulls which was worse: Fleance fumbling the horse situation by keeping it alive and it eventually escaping or Pearl trying to actually kill Mumrik? She’s so real for that honestly tho
Iekarious: I never like blaming people, so this feels very awkward to talk about…. Both situations worked out in the end, so why do we need to dwell on things like that?
….
I guess it really depends on what you consider to be “worse”.
The horse situation reflects poorly on both of our teams as a whole, particularity their leaders. The course of action Flea recommended was risky, but anyone in the group could have shot it down. In fact, some people did. Both Mumrik and Pearl were very adamant about making sure the horse was dead. But as the team leaders, both Elle and I chose to disregard them in favour of the perceived benefits of keeping the horse alive, and we had to deal with the consequences.
Meanwhile, the Mumrik situation reflects poorly on Pearl as an individual. As members of the chruch, it is our responsibility to supervise the criminals who are conscripted to work for us. Not only does it mean we need reign them in when they are being irresponsible, we also have to do our best to ensure their own safety. Their lives are already dangerous enough, being made to face monsters as a living. We don’t need to make their lives any worse by threatening them with death. Pearl seems rather…. inexperienced, so I don’t think this one incident should be held against her overall character, but I hope Elle was able to make her understand how her behaviour was not aporaorpate for a member of the Gracers.
Mumrik: The Horse, obviously. After all that time we put into finishing it off, they just let it live? And then they let it get away? And then we have to walk through the fucking woods to go track it down and fight it again? I hope they took away that catboy’s meal privileges. I bet he’s the other team’s version of Rahkert. Except at least Rahkert is quiet.
That girl wasn’t going to kill me. She could threaten me all she wants, but theres a big difference between saying you’ll kill someone and actually going through your threat. Even if she did somehow end up going through it, there where what, like half a dozen other people nearby? No way my life was in any real danger.
Rahkert: Best friend did not fumble. Shadow steed fumbled by choosing to betray.
(There is a Pause )
May have been slight fumble in taking it back to the place where things that could control it were. Only sight fumble though. Steed = weak loyalty. Not worth keeping as ally.
Pearl = Not bad. Pearl = Also threat. Mumrik = Useful ally. Dependable. Do not want to lose him. Pearl = Hunter. Predator. Would not go half way to kill. Will have to stop her if she tries that again.
Neither choice was worse. But Pearl’s was the mistake.

Hello Flea,
If you could turn into any animal (not just animal people), which animal would you most want to turn into?
Sincerely, a wild fan
Interesting question, mister wild fan !
Never thought that much about it before but I suppose if I could turn into any critter something useful…would be flight. Yeah. So maybe something like a corvid. A raven seems like something you’d see around enough that it wouldn’t draw any attention if I was tryna scout out a spot or somethin’
A lark would be pretty on brand too though ! But idunno. would have to test out a few different form’s weight carrying capacity and eyesight and stuff but land on a specific one but for right now my answer is vaguely any common bird but a raven seems pretty nice.
And corvids are supposed to be pretty smart right? I can communicate with animals so maybe that could be something as well.
Boooooo what a boring no fun all work answer !!
Fineeeee I realize when people usually ask this question they mean it in a “you turn into this creature forever” way and not “what would be the most useful animal shapechange for most scenarios, Flea!” way so… uhhhh UHHHH
*thinks about it for an hour*
UHHHHCAMEL. The mythical Camel yeah. No idea what Camels look like, Augustian was telling me about them uhh they live in the deserts? Admittedly the warm climate of their habitat is pretty appealing…
*Augustian whispering from behind the camera*
They- They can go How long without food and water ?? That’s.. literally the coolest thing ever uhm-
Sincerely,
A Camel
