Sherlock Holmes is the funniest case of “doomed by the narrative” ever. Doomed by the narrative and destined to die young bc the creator hated him, and then the fans literally bullied him into un-dooming the narrative, writing about him for another thirty years, and giving the character a canonical happy ending where he retires to the countryside and keeps bees. Funniest shit ever.

I reblogged this forever ago but suddenly remembered this idea and it would not leave me alone all evening so I had to go find it again. The Shonen Tantei-dan as a concept crack me up SO MUCH.

Imagine being a grown-ass adult and stumbling upon a grisly murder scene. You're sick to your stomach at the sight– at the very idea of what cpuld have possibly happened here. And then you see 5 seven year olds poking at the body with a stick, talking amongst themselves and saying shit like, "the cause of death was most likely blunt-force trauma to the back of the head."

"Of course it was; the head's all mush! It's barely attached to the spine at this point."

"But look at these blood splatters; these patterns are more indicative of large, slashing wounds, aren't they?"

"Either way, with all this blood and the lack of drag marks or blood trails; this is definitely the primary crime scene."

"But how did someone attack them right here without being noticed? This is a busy street, yet rigor mortis hasn't begun to set in, so this happened recently."

"True; the killer could still be in the area." It's at this point that five pairs of eyes turn to look at you, all wide and shining with childhood innocence. "There's been a murder," they tell you, relaxed as can be. "Can you call the authorities for us, please? They tend to think it's a prank call when one of us does it."

They go back to discussing the finer points of forensic science amongst themselves, and you numbly pull out your phone to do as they asked.

How do you even recover from an encounter like that?

Given how often they end up having to solve murders, drug trafficking, kidnappings, and other crimes do you think the Tokyo Metropolian Police Department would just make the Detective Boys official privet investigators or something along those lines. At this point they have more field experience than half the force.

I actually had an unfinished silly comic on THIS VERY TOPIC just sitting, fully scripted/thumbnailed on my desktop, so this ask inspired me to finish it up and post it. XD

It's hardly the most out-there concept for a tmnt×batman team up... they've technically teamed up like 3 different times in official media; farm neighbours in upstate New York sounds like the perfect place for so many rural shenanigans it ain't even a joke anymore.

bruce finds out that he owns 20 acres of land in upstate new york but doesn't remember buying it. he's had a lot of hits to the head ok? upon investigation he finds that a crew has been hired to build barns? fencing? coops? stables? did he buy clark a new farm?

he goes to check it out and when he gets there he finds his oldest and youngest sons both there. dick is talking with people and damian is "testing the integrity" (kicking and shaking) of the fences

turns out damian wanted a sanctuary for abused farm animals and dick thought it was a wonderful idea. they go up there whenever they're free and bruce has never noticed until now

Chewing and gnawing on the irony One Piece continually shows with the main characters where they're doing objectively kind and helpful things and that's what gets them in trouble with the law. It's the selective application of criminal justice. The bias and room for corruption built into the system itself. It's delicious. It's horribly relevant. I'm obsessed.
