child of a helicopter parent rant

i know my mom is trying to protect me, but im 16 and im still not allowed to talk to people until ive met them face to face. i cant talk to people on social media, i cant make friends on roblox, i cant have mutuals on tiktok.

literally i follow none of these rules. all they do is stress me out at the thought of getting caught. i got caught once. no online games/social media for 3 years. it was supposed to be 8 years but my nine year old friend begged her to let me play roblox with her and now im online again.

i know theres bad people out there. i know theres gr**mers, hackers, scammers, creeps, i know. but im not an idiot. and i know that some people are really good at hiding it, but 99% of people arent here just to hurt me. a lot of them just want to use the intended purpose of whatever platform theyre on. im not going to walk around saying my full legal name, showing off my birth certificate and sending strangers my address.

i feel like i have to lie every time i use my computer. i panic when my mom picks up my phone or borrows my laptop.

people irl never talk to me. its summer and my school friends are basically ghosting me. i sleep too much, i dont leave my room enough, i dont talk. but truley i just need someone, and i have so many people there for me online. heck, i met a girl who actually calls me daily, plays games with me, and shows that she truley cares deeply for me.

i just need someone.
