It's August! Hopefully everyone had a restful July after lore, and thank you all for your feedback on the event. With that, we hope to only further improve your member experience going forward.

That said, there are some big changes this month. Please do read this newsletter to the end, thanks!

Moderation changes:

They've been pillars of Gnostic Hymns and its community since its start, so please join us in thanking Mods Neffi and Duncan for all the hard work they've done for the group. At this time, both will be stepping down from their position as moderators. Stepping up to take their place, we are welcoming Milky to the mod team! Many thanks to her for volunteering to help us in keeping this community at its best. Our mods page has been updated to reflect this change. Additionally, for those of you who are active members of our Discord community, please welcome Tches as GH's first official server monitor! She'll be helping to keep everyone in check, so huge thanks to her as well.

Combat changes:

Since Spiral Abyss in April, and even before it, we've seen a lot of frustration with GH's combat system. Combat as a whole was only ever meant to be a supplemental system to the group's events and a fun way to signify your dedication to your muse and their time here. It seems to have evolved from that, however, and the messy system built when the group was only a few months old is proving unsustainable for where it is now, nearly two years later. While the mod team reevaluates and overhauls the system to be more in line with what GH needs of it, we will be putting a pause to all new combat developments. This primarily includes commissions and new or updated kits. Please refrain from requesting any new combat kits from moderation, and we ask that you refrain from starting new combat threads utilizing the system in the meantime. When combat is being used outside of events, mods are not able to track its usage to ensure that it is being done correctly. This leads to misunderstandings of the system and, with one as complex as ours, that can cause difficulty when it comes time for events. We hope you all can understand and bear with us through this transition. Narrative has always been GH's primary focus, and we'd like your shared effort in making sure that there is something more fulfilling to be had in the group than good dice rolls. Note that artifact and talent claims will continue as usual in the meantime.

Claims updates:

Updates have been made to artifact exchanges. Previously, there was no set limit to how many times you could exchange tier 1 artifacts for a tier 2 one. Beginning this month, however, there will be a monthly limit. You may only exchange for one tier 2 artifact every month. Additionally, we would like to remind everyone to please link to the unique tag your blog uses for a thread rather than a post on the thread itself when claiming talent points. We would also like to remind everyone to have an accessible stat page visible on their blog at all times. Thank you!

Perhaps the warmer temperatures make everything feel just a bit more exhausting, for the Universe finds itself in a collective state of discontent. Jokes between friends turn into snappy shutdowns, cool river waters dry up into sticky mudflats, and bumbling bees aggravate into vicious (and quite literal) pricks. This would not be enough to send the cosmos into ruination but it surely does not herald good times ahead, for irritation is a small entropy that slowly destroys.

Tonight marks the beginning of a festival once forgotten in Konda Village. For three days, the streets come alive with food stalls serving tri-colored dango and games like goldfish scooping and target shooting. Visitors can even rent yukatas or buy youkai masks to join the festivities. Come craft cucumber horses to welcome once departed spirits, enjoy the festivities with their memories in mind, light fires to guide them home, and float paper boats along the river to bid them farewell.

Recent rumors swirl about a criminal hiding in Fleuve Cendre. While this isn’t unusual, Tetreaux of Spina di Rosula drops a worrying tidbit: even Sonny and Luca haven’t been able to pin down this slippery offender. Now, if Spina’s toughest guys can’t handle it? That’s when you know things are serious! To keep Fleuve Cendre safe, the bartender’s putting up an offer no one can refuse: nab the culprit and enjoy free food and drinks at L’or noir for a whole year. Just don’t tell the boss about it.

The changes to Belobog's climate have been subtle, but not entirely unnoticed. Rising centigrades have impacted the local ecosystem, causing them to migrate, and the Administrative District has been infiltrated with a handful of Plains Bears as a result. The Silvermane Guards warn everyone to stay out of their way and avoid disturbing them—though that's easier said than done when a cub crawls up to you and makes a home out of your arms. Um... The mom isn't anywhere close by, is she?

With the investigation into the missing Simulated Universe data proving unsuccessful, and the regular burden of work adding onto that, the Space Station is feeling down the dumps. While some opt to alleviate their stresses through the Medical Department's excellent psychological counseling services, others cope through more... novel ways. A Wubbaboo race-betting ring has started within the Space Station, and researchers across all departments are quickly becoming addicted, staking credit and livelihood to root for their favorite racer. Will you put a stop to this (quite frankly) unethical, burgeoning industry? Or will you place your bets on a Wubbaboo of your own?
