malabar grey hornbill ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ spotted a pair right on the chikoo tree outside our window. This is the smaller of the pair with a white beak, the other #hornbill (not in frame) was larger, had a prominent orange beak. They are always seen in pairs. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ These birds are frequent visitors but rarely ever found so close to ground, the only guess would be they came looking for food or lack of tall trees around, since many trees have been uprooted in the cyclone, the monsoons or simply cut.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Turn the sound on to hear it squawk. I love how these plants put on a show with their just their foliage. Their leaves with the black pattern seem like fresh watercolor strokes blotting on a green canvas and the center washed away, drawing in the eye. I’ve come across so many posts on how to germinate a mango seed. The pre-soaking and the peeling. ⁣ ⁣ Here’s what I found works best for me. Place the entire seed in soil and cover with a thin layer of top soil. Water every other day if in the ground or less frequently if in a pot. That’s it. ⁣ ⁣ Why the rush? The journey from a seed to fruit bearing tree is not instant, it’s takes years.
