The Gulmohar tree (Delonix regia), also known as the Flame Tree or Royal Poinciana, is celebrated for its vibrant red-orange blossoms and cultural significance across various regions. In India, it holds a special place in landscapes and traditions, symbolizing beauty and resilience. In Kerala, it's associated with the legend of Jesus' crucifixion, believed to have gained its fiery hue from his blood . In Vietnam, the tree's blooming coincides with the end of the school year, earning it the nickname "pupil's flower" . Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Gulmohar contributes to urban greenery and provides ample shade, making it a cherished presence in many communities

Found Things
I turned thirty recently and on a dear friends, suggestion made a list of all the things I would like to do before my next birthday. Among all the eating healthy, practicing yoga and making a little garden of my own. There was one point which said, take a leisure walk every day. For those who know me, and surely think me mad trotting about in a city like Bombay, know how dearly I love my daily walks. It fuels my imagination and I greatly enjoy moments of quiet observation looking at everything and yet nothing at all. I am a collector of found things and have always been attracted to unclaimed or unwanted items and to my mother's great annoyance as a child, lying on the streets most of the time.
As a little girl, I would often come home from school with my pockets and hands full of used chocolate wrappers, crumpled paper, bottle caps, feathers and even dead insects. Starting this year I hope to do all the things that make me happy, even if it is walking down the road picking up unwanted bits and pieces.
A week ago I passed by a flaming Gulmohar tree and I found this flower below it.
