Stays part 2

So I've added a 4 inch panel to the front to see how this fits, and hooray! The armpits are in the right place today.

When it comes to making the final product, I'll be extending the original pieces by 2 inches either side, so I can keep to the original patter as much a possible.

I'm also going to extend the back pieces by an inch

Anastasia's ballgown cosplay

So this year at the October Mcm Comic con, I am planning to go as Anastasia... specifically this dress

Now... I have only ever sewn a couple of tops... so I thought I'd share with you all my progress...

Part 1 - foundation garments

I've picked this stays pattern purely because it was the only one that was strapless, and came in chunky sizes... for reference im a uk 22-24

So I've cut my pattern... I'm using a scrap section of muslin for the outer layer, and a blue drill for the interlining layers... I figures out the lining from my scrap pile later... I'm also using cable ties for the boning for my first draft.

So all the pieces cut out and stitched together with the boning channels sewn in... I discovered a slight problem...

It's a little bit small...

On to draft number 2.

In fairness though, for a novice sewer, this only took me about 8 hours, and I know what I need to do to adjust it for a better fit.
