Daily One Piece: Episode 25-27
painting the water as the bg is annoying because its static

this shot is much nicer

sanji kick is kinda op ngl

sanji backstory hype

foreshadowing but also i like the pan right and back to transition skin to skele. very creative and they also had to paint extra bg just to do the gag

hah foreshadowing comes back...

selfishness and greed not being the answerÂ

pure selflessness isnât the answer

impressive gin. i like how pearls cockiness was his downfall since it was his teammate to get âem

aesthetic water

still like how it can be random things that the crew find actually dangerous. itâs nice to see them when theyâre not perfectly able to handle the situation

nami almost looks sad to leave them

the water looks so violent when they're right down with it. i would have loved to see the contuation of this shot (since i know if this happened in real life they definitely would have drowned)

luffy's resolve~

classic

i love how they illustrate the obvious difference in power without the two having to fight yet

good line

for one frame you can see mihawk in the reflection of zoro's sword

high contrast black and white aesthetic :o

i love the idea of carrying your legacy through death and dying of honour to not completely betraying your promises

Daily One Piece: Episode 22-23

me_irl

something i find annoying in anime is when shadows are marked by just opaic blobs of black or dark blue instead of being integrated into the background to allow the natural colour of the scene to let the shadow feel more in reality. the difficulty is that doing the extra background painting takes more resources which is why you see lots of black blob shadows. thatâs why iâm super impressed to see that stuff in one piece of all things, when the shadow is even moving !

the gag is funnier because of how luffy âtrapsâ sanji with his fingers. also don krieg is a low tier one piece villain

funny use of the peeking over a wall cliche

woh

ok this next sequence is just great ngl. first, i like how each of the pirate crew extras scale down the ship at different paces and positions

then i love how they use this guys' pants to cut to mihawk coming and make him seem out of nowhere

then after that i like how they have two rapid cuts of the ship getting sliced followed by a long shot of the ship splitting apart. the time between the cut and the part where the whole ship starts to fall apart is so long, that the shot is interrupted by silent reaction shots. the anticipation before the exposion is huge before we cut back to it

then we get these large 3D sweeping shots of the ship aaa

similarly to earlier, each crew memberâs response to how to get safety is different, shown by the pace of their animation and their posture

another 3d boat shot for good measure

i love this super snappy camera move from a worm eye view to an over the shoulder dutch angle

finally after all the insanity we have a more personal hook to the characters weâre actually attached to

that whole scene was so great

Oda is a mirror manufacturer in the East Blue

classic straw hat members having motivations that directly influence their actions

i like how they depict luffy as intrusive when he interupts and makes sanji join them

i like this scene

smh betrayal

Daily One Piece: Episode 20
thereâs a lot of really stark lighting cues in this episode

the more limes, the faster the scurvy recovery. also i like that they can get regular diseases like scurvy

no nami ur wrong
thanks pirate hunting brothers

i like how they cut between nami looking at arlong and the navy looking at them

namiâs reaction here is as heartsickening as the pirate brotherâs attempts to be charismaticÂ

the way they made the cannonball have such a grand impact is just hilarious when itâs responded to with luffyâs shenanigans. like look at how dramatic that lighting is and how big the ripple was

thanks luffy, continuing to be a dum dum

i love how k-f made this one guy such a pretentious ass

how they obscured and hid sanjiâs face even to the very end was very creepy

BEST USOPP FACE

Surprised weâre getting to zoroâs flashback episode not but better late than neverÂ
i love how chill the dojo sensei is. he's just like oh this homeless child wants to fight everyone in my dojo? cool
also i love how zoro starts with zero experience and trains himself up

the music and editing in his training sequence was great

kuina wins best girl

zoroâs resolve :)

kuinaâs anxiety :(

the whole fight sequence is really well handled, itâs very fast paced and the editing feels refined

thereâs still a clear difference in power. i love how each one puts crosses their own body in their own way

the sfx goes silent when the swords are flying and then when her sword is thrust into the ground the camera goes up and down violently

i love how they introduce this hard hitting real world topic of gender inequality at itâs core and tackle it with the same empowering nature that one piece has

rip :(((((

luffy wants his musician

now hereâs a couple of nice perspective shots

Daily One Piece: Movie 1
unfortunately the movie was pretty mediocre
it had nice moments with the crew
i thought the overall plot with woonan and drago-sama was just kinda trite and lame
even boxman had a more interesting tale and he's boxman
hereâs my favourite moments

wow nami is strong, thatâs a lot of gold

i like how they adapted the manga chapter splashes for the screen

i hope they do it again but this time in not trash quality

thanks luffy

i like how they did the waves and namiâs hair very cool

this snake bunny looks like a grumpy old man bahaha

only now noticing how strang the placement of their ears are

zOrO pLoT aRmOuR

lUfFy PlOt ArMoUr

this is the part where the episode just becomes straight up wierd

what a strange episode

teamwork :)

thanks luffy

so i guess kuro is finally beat. a little underwhelming how after he was killed it just kinda moves on that quickly but still satisfying

i like how this is like a whole coming of age moment for luffy but he discontinued it for meat. i found it funny but i can also see why people would complaint about static characterization or whatever... although changing the topic to avoid undermining his core beliefs seems very in character

most of the episode was about usopp leaving and it was a bigsad
it made me realise the usopp is maybe the most normal out of the straw hats so far and he's had the most traditional story arc so far
which i think is good because when the tone got more emotional it hit harder

itâs also just a great character moment that his struggle is the impact that he left at home, so much so that not only does he stop everyone from knowing he told the truth and that they all miss him, he has trouble bringing his stuff

bruh moment

i canât believe i only connected kuroâs living a lie to usoppâs as being hypocritical now

:(

Daily One Piece: Episode 15/16
Iâll never get tired of one piece shock reaction images

another badass zoro and a new badass usopp!

luffyâs view of pirates are simplistic but not idealistic, and are frankly almost purely out of self interest; luffy doesnât particularly care if innocents die, but if someone he likes dies. itâs important to clarify that itâs still imperative that you have a good heart though

ah yes this makes physical sense

hand animated backgrounds :)

kaya as outward serving as ever

i wish this was a part of her character beforehand though, like the fact that sheâs rich barely seems to be a part of the townâs politics or society since she doesnât seem to give much
cool shot

kuro is seriously badass jesus.Â

i love their use of silence. it sells luffyâs conviction really well

i also like that the show doesnât necessarily vindicate kuroâs crew members, since they havenât been acting on their own volition, although this aspect of theirs is glanced over a bit.

the way the did kuroâs stealth move sent chills ngl

letterboxing :eyes:

sick action once again. one piece knows how to nail individual moments of impact

classic jango

conviction also describes kaya here, but also she just is a cutie here

Added to the list of badass things zoro has done: catch his katana with his mouth and do really badass poses

is that CG water? in my one piece?

i love kuro just sitting by and watching like an owl

this episode has lots of funny perspective shots.Â

ah classic nami

lol this part is great. from the png bushes to the cg ground with a obviously upscaled background on it to the tracking of the characters

great monologue from kuro

tranquility is a perfect word to describe what he wants and how he wants to achieve it; him being angry when things didnât go his way is actually a nice character detail.
his demeanour at first is like hisoka levels of self gratifying
the happiness during the flashbacks look so pure that it almost breaks the audienceâs sense of disbelief that he was evil the whole time
finally, he retreats to his former name, the one he abandoned, to prove his point

Daily One Piece: Episode 13
What on earth is this shot. First it just tracks luffyâs head but then it does a spin so that itâs still upright haha very cheesy, very cool

nice smear frames

I love every joke that just makes fun of the strange priorities that our main characters tend to have in any given scene

oof. of course the broken glasses are what lets us see them figure stuff out

these two are such dweebs, but not in the good way

yikes. i like the twist that jangoâs hypnosis ring is actually for combat, because really it shouldnât be a twist it makes perfect sense, heâs a pirate.

iâm not really a fan of how they end the episode with kuro being angry, since what makes him especially intimidating is that heâs calculated and calm instead of angry

Daily One Piece: Episode 12
GAHH what a good episode. perfect balance of suspense and comedy in my book
the suspense is basically carried by captain kuro, who does nothing but walk and sit in cool poses and heâs still more intimidating than most anime antagonists

classic usopp

the turning point in captain kuroâs psyche. while it was clear that he never had conflicting feelings about kaya, his ability to break this and feel free after 3 years represented by the 3 year anniversary gift is heartbreaking

the following scene had such good editing and sound design. like jesus.

thanks toei for only making some of the water have waves

man itâs a good thing that pirates scream when they come attacking; if they hadnât nami wouldnât have noticed and they would have succesfully gotten to the village and won

sasuga nami

this line made me laugh for a good solid minute

tfw your eyes pop out so much that they bulge through the glass of your goggles

caltrops really fuckin hurt but this is funny

USOPP FONT USOPP FONT sasuga kaizoku-fansubs

the backgrounds in the following two shots are incredible. i love the blue. impressionist shading on the stairs; really does wonders to show how clean captain kuro is and how trapped and isolated he was during his time as a butler

great note to end the episode on

Blue colour palette (ïŸăïŸ)

I like how this shot emphasises Kayaâs loneliness

â„ïčâ„
The desperation on this guyâs face mixed with how threatening the gun is, so close to the screen is engaging, although it doesnât help that theyâre not allowed to show gunshots onscreen (ïżŁÏïżŁ)

good use of shot reverse shot

red colour palette (ïŸăïŸ) good use in order to differentiate usoppâs and kuroâs different mindsets, one panicked and one calculated

good usopp monologue

I like the distinction that Kuro makes about still being high class: shunning uses of violence and carefully planning his scheme for money over years

sasuga key animator that had the foresight to cut into the lineart to make it look like grass, but then just not do it for his left foot when he stands.Â

i really like this run sequence. it happens so quick

Jango is very funny. i love his wide gaping mouth when he snores

I like the distinction in Usopp that even though heâll lie to make people happy, heâll never forsake the things that are important to him by lying about them and heâll even fight to protect it

added to the list of times luffy ruined the upper hand to prove a point

suddenly good direction. great ost as wellÂ

3d camera rotation with fisheye lens uwu

Daily One Piece: Episode 9

Usoppâs introduction episode is great. of all the characters so far his animation is the wackiest. In this shot when heâs scared to actually meet real pirates he turns away mechanically and slowly with sfx that sounds like winding up a toy robot

Luffy being great:

Zoro and Luffyâs dynamic being great

Usopp being great:

Nami being smug:

Great callback from Luffy. the VA really sells that itâs his line even though it was stolen from shanks

das my boi

Luffy being trapped in this mug is kinda messed up ngl

Yasopp is like Ging from hunter x hunter

thanks kaizoku fansubs

hilarious line
