I’d choose you in every timeline we meet. In this one, I’d choose you every day.

Anatomy of the heart
In lab, we deconstruct the human body
people reduced to names and physical substance
their bodies are proof--
time is unforgiving.
stiff, pungent flesh,
chiseled and warped in strange ways
now remnants of lives whose stories we'll never know
but another lesson can be learned
there is you.
it cannot be helped--
i sense the warmth and softness of your skin,
your soft exhale and vigorous heart,
the cycle of your chest rising and fallilng,
the twinkle in your eyes,
as a smile buds on your lips...
i want to keep this memory of you,
simple, yet sacred,
somewhere eternal,
so i hold you closer, i hold you longer.
in the scheme of things,
we are but a moment,
but every moment with you
is a miracle.

Even though it's over
Let's go back to walking between arches,
our words full of future promises and hope,
echoing amidst bright lights and painted heavenly blue skies --
in a place of recklessness and easy pleasures,
we treaded carefully and earnestly.
Let's go back to the cramped living room,
our tight embraces on the sinking couch --
the smell of instant meals and the cool air of perpectual fall
hanging between our breaths.
remember our love, our combined strengths, and the promise we have made to each other.
