Quarantine Day 38
Dear GD,
Today was a good day. I had a happy hour with the girls, although it wasn’t a full hour. More like 30 minutes, but that’s cool.
Today I am grateful for women’s rights. How women fought to have basic human rights that men had at the time. From the right to vote, the right to work, the right to pursue an education, the right to be equal members of society. Women are powerhouses. Just think about it. The amount of work that women do is incredible. Even before we had full rights within society. We washed our clothes in rivers, cooked and baked, raised kids, cleaned the house to name a few. I am grateful to represent a history of women who have fought for the future generations of women.
I am grateful that as a woman, I have an equal shot at an education, a career. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that everything is hunky-dory. The only reason that I have this opportunity is that I live in a developed country and both of my parents worked hard to make these opportunities available.
Physically and mentally speaking, we are different from men. We have different hormones and it’s normal. We are different sexes, we always will be, but we are built by nature to complement each other (sex for sex). We need to respect and support each other. Not dominate women because of your innate male strength and impulses. Women also have the due diligence of not abusing our power to suppress men. We should not take advantage of the fact that society will take our side in the event that something goes wrong. If we do, are we any better than the men that harm women?
And with those thoughts, dear GD, I leave you.
Stay safe, wherever you are.

Day 37 of Quarantine
Dear GD,
I couldn’t sleep last night. I woke up and rolled back and forth, trying to force my brain back to sleep. And then it hit me: I should start a blog. A blog where every single day I force myself to write about something for which I am grateful. Thus GD, the Grateful Diaries was born.
It is the year 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak has the entire world, essentially, on lockdown and frontline workers are holding our society together. Today, I am grateful for them. For always putting up with our shit. Not being paid enough, not being noticed until shit hit the fan. So THANK YOU to the healthcare workers, to grocery store employees, to bus drivers, mail delivery persons, and many many others. Thank you for risking your lives every single day, so that the rest of us can stay home and do our part to flatten the curve.
Stay safe out there, wherever you are.
XO,
RD
