Playing around with a new pencil given to me by an adored student @ames_jessica … so much fun playing with value!!! Tiny quicksketch done over Zoom alongside my students and then overworked afterwards with gleeful abandon:). It was worth it… a blurry, distorted screen makes for some inventive rendering! Another quick little sketch of the lovely @trinidadmodelovivo drawn alongside my Zoom students and polished afterwards using Instagram sources. She was much more contrasty onscreen, but I enjoyed trying to explore the velvety tones within the darker areas and softened some transitions. I may finish this off and push the darks later… but I kinda like it in its current state. Sometimes I use the tiny notebooks to play with possible painting concepts… This was a sort of homage to an image from 1530 of Leda and the Swan, copied from a lost original by Michelangelo.
