Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed visited the construction site of the central part of the ‘Beautifying Sheger’ project to review its progress since the groundbreaking ceremony on October 1, 2019 for the China supported component of the project. This includes the construction of a Central Square (about 48 hectares) and 12-km river treatment (Entoto Mountain to Peacock reach). The ‘Beautifying Sheger’ project which aims to develop Addis Ababa’s river systems and surrounding areas along the 56km stretch from Entoto to Akaki is part of the Prime Minister’s integrated and holistic initiative to clean up the city, generate jobs, and build service and green economies. Arrived in Addis Abeba last Sunday , Angelina Jolie met the President at the National Palace and shared thoughts on development , refugees and women issues. On her part, President Sahle-Work Zewde said the visit is timely and important as Ethiopia is going through an amazing transformation heralding a new chapter in all spheres. “Your coming to Addis Abeba will definitely contribute in changing the narrative not only about Ethiopia but also Africa.” Angelina said she was in Ethiopia to discuss refugees and to explore the opportunities to work on women and children.
