hunseo !
the short response was enough to earn a scrunched nose and huff from hunseo, but he didnât push. he barely knew the boy, nonetheless felt like he had a place to push for anything beyond a right. instead he was focusing on the question that followed, his eyes widened in near-judgment, a small, confused smirk tugging onto his lips before rolling his eyes. âi canât say i have. unless you count my snickering every time i accidentally drew the body long and the legs too high, leaving a little too much extra between. the last time i laughed at that was middle school, though, okay? donât judge.â he pouted at the thought of it, before humming in agreement. âiâm sure thereâs someone out there, but there has to be some excitement in just⌠getting off right before you know youâre about to die, right? a last moment of complete bliss before⌠well, whatever comes next. thatâs a much bigger talk.â
realism. something hunnie tried to pretend didnât exist. after losing his mother, he always wanted to keep a positive outlook on everything, and that meant believing that no matter what, he would end up happy. âwhy do you appreciate realism? whatâs wrong with a little fantasy? i think thereâs plenty of happiness to be found, even if there is an occasional bump- or a lot of bumps. thatâs what i like about romances, though. i like the idea of having someone youâre willing to go through the bumps with.â he was simply a hopeless romantic, as surprising as it was due to his lack of ever really committing. it didnât make his heart any less soft. âwell, you can, too, of course. i think the middle would be the safest place to be, right? maybe one day we can meet there.â he gave a happy little nod, but it was very quickly followed by a feigned offended gasp. âhey! i am a performer. i am capable of a lot. i can even cry right now if you really want me to prove it to you. just say the word and iâll be happy to show off.â his eyes actually lit up at the idea of being challenged, but his lack of shame definitely made the idea a little nerve wracking. âyou might not need one, but happy ending you will get. no sadness allowed, only happiness and forevers. sharing wooden, floating doors all the way to freedom, itâll be a hit.â
âi asked if you were ever turned on by one, not if you ever laughed at one. stupid middle school antics are something everyone encounters.â the only reason he thought to be reassuring was due to the pout. âiâve got no right to judge anyone anyway,â not that he planned on going into detail about why, but it was added reassurance. âdepends. what if the sex is bad? then itâd be one last let down.â as for whatever came next, he didnât want to think about it. whenever he did, he thought of his mom, even after all this time. âif you hooked up with someone you knowâs a good fuck then youâd be good. so that just means no impulsive last one night stands.â
âbecause iâve lived.â it sounded pretentious when he said it like that, but there was no other way of putting it better. that was the reason behind his appreciation for realism. âthereâs nothing wrong with fantasy, i just donât buy into fantasy.â he hoped he wasnât being too much of a downer. he wasnât trying to be. âhappiness is out there, sure,â it just wasnât something that seemed to find haeil. his luck mustâve been the worst. âthat sounds nice too,â but as someone who had never been in a relationship before he wasnât sure that finding someone willing to go through bumps with him would be possible. he had bigger bumps than most people did. he didnât say anything, but maybe they could meet in the middle one day. he liked the thought. âare you? iâm unfamiliar with your work.â he wasnât trying to be rude, but he genuinely couldnât place him with anything heâd seen. âdonât cry,â he said quickly, âpeople will assume i dumped you.â haeil believed he could because of how enthusiastic he was about doing it. âinvite me to the premiere.â

aria !
aria was only seconds 0.1 milliseconds to be a exact from punching this guys face in. with a look of false interest plastered on her face, aria would appear to have a look of concern while this man was talking to her. he spoke to her about his wife, who was upset about not being able to land in FIJI . &  how his great great great grandmother was born there. Nothing seemed to make sense with him, as her knuckles were turning white from the grip she had on her activity book. she nodded and gave him a pat on the shoulder, hopefully something that would shut him up. she eventually interjected, âwell we have a yoga studio and spa area, the both offer a tropical atmosphere ⌠can maybe even take her mind off of FIJI for the timeâ. she looked down at her clipboard, writing a few things down and tearing the piece that was written on. handing it to him, she list some invites that she had planned for the couples on the ship, all based around the idea of FIJI if she couldnât get them to FIJI might as well bring it to them ⌠right . ? seeing his eyes light up, she felt pleased that he seemed excited. âwe have couples karaoke night, couples dance competition and even an etiquette class offered in the dining hall, which our head chef decided to cook forâ. aria looked over to the person standing next to her, smiling uneasily, âwouldnât you say that sounds like fun?"Â
if haeil provided her with transparent honesty he would have told her that, no, that didnât sound fun. nothing couples related would, not to him, but he had listened to the other guy long enough to take her side, backing her up purely so he could shut up. âso much fun,â he hoped his forced enthusiasm wasnât too obvious because he was trying to help. âme and my boyfriend have been looking forward to it ever since we heard about it, itâs practically all we can talk about.â he was overselling it now, but once he was in he was all in.Â
he didnât know what the big deal was for the guy anyway. theyâd get there eventually, so why complain to someone who had nothing to do with the hold up and could do nothing to fix it? at least she was trying. thankfully most people who frequented the casino were too distracted by losing their money to focus on things they could complain about instead. it was one of the few job perks he had. âwhat even happens at an etiquette class?â he asked under his breath, keeping his voice low so the guy couldnât hear him.Â

hunseoâ !
âoh, donât be so negative! positive thinking,â hunseo encouraged with a crooked grin. of course, it slipped away at haeilâs reasonable argument. it wasnât like romance was too common anymore. it was all heated touches followed by potentially unwillingly giving their heart away. âi donât know⌠thereâs something admirable in the patience of that kinda foreplay. though i guess i couldnât really pull it off. stick figures arenât really much of a turn on.â cocking his head, he let out a breath. â⌠but i guess iâd rather be having sex than embarrassing myself. so you win this round.â playfully, he scowled at the other boy, though it quickly faded as he popped another piece of popcorn between his lips.
with a terrible habit of talking in general, it didnât take much to get hunseoâs attention from the movie to conversation, and he was very quickly invested in the back and forth. âyeah, who doesnât? itâs a lot nicer to believe that everything is always gonna work out in the end. why? do you appreciate a good tragedy?â he raised a brow in interest, already finding himself wanting to know the other boyâs opinions on things. âoh?â he paused, his mouth opening and closing before he let out a strangely nervous laugh. âi donât know if i could write it, but sign me up for the role of jack and iâll be an oscar winner on the spot⌠i donât have enough patience to write anything, either.â he hummed in thought. âi think iâd make rose a boy in the remake, too. gay and a happy ending? what more could you ask for?â
haeil nodded he was told to not be so negative. he had no way of knowing his past, or just how often he relied on positive thinking whenever he had a sudden craving, so he excused him. âright,â he said instead, letting it go as he did with most things. he learned from a young age that biting his tongue was often the better route to take. âyouâve never been turned on by a stick figure?â he was able to maintain a straight face as he asked, acting like it was a common situation people found themselves in. âwho wouldnât rather that?â sex was one of the few vices he still had left, so he took advantage of it often. hooking up was easy and he never had to worry about someone wanting to stick around.Â
âdo i appreciate tragedy or do i appreciate realism? iâve lived long enough to know that happily ever after is a thing of movies.â heâd known it for awhile. maybe he could afford to be more positive thinking, as hunseo had encouraged, but it seemed pointless. âyou can believe whatever you want though.â just because he felt a certain way didnât mean he didnât think others could feel differently. if he wanted to think that happy endings are obtainable, good for him. haeil knew better. âjackâs an iconic role, my feelings about the movie aside. you sure you can live up to that?â he was messing with him, though with his typical deadpan sense of humor that might not come through. âmaking rose a boy would be a good edit. actually, making anything gay is a great revision in general. so many movies wouldâve been better if it had just been gay. i donât need a happy ending though.âÂ

sunny !
âit is definitely⌠messed up.â sunny nodded, trying to tear her eyes from th screen where people were frantically trying to get on life boats. âhonestly, couldnât they show like⌠moana or something?â she whispered, trying not to disturb anyone around her. âa⌠curse?â she questioned, her eyes almost comically wide. a frown settles on her lips before shaking her head and putting a gummy candy into her mouth.
âa titanic curse?! thatâs- thatâs so.â she shakes her head trying to shove the thoughts out of her head. âwell, we have to ditch. we have to leave! like right now.â she mumbles, grabbing her things before reaching for haeilâs hand. âanything is better then a flippinâ curse.â she drags him along, finding her way out of the theater.
âiâd perform shiny in a heartbeat if it meant theyâd turn off this movie, and iâll bet iâm the least qualified to do that.â he was whispering too, trying to be as courteous as possible, though one could argue that the fact that he was complaining to begin with wasnât very courteous of him. he nodded at her questioning the curse, eyes widening as though he were worried about it too. he continued munching away at his snacks as he spoke.Â
âwe can leave.â he should have done the right thing, and assure her that there most likely wasnât a curse, but the excuse was too good to pass up. he was gathering his things too, as she did. at least he got a few snacks out of it. he let her take his hand, laughing under his breath as she dragged him out. âbetter safe than sorry,â he agreed, still laughing.Â

sunny !
the theater wasnât exactly⌠packed. she quickly realized that a lot of the passengers (and crew) had returned to their rooms. she had done the same thing. but after about five minutes alone in her dark room before a particular bolt of lightning hit, and she was damn sure it was right outside her room. so she grabbed a hoodie, and slipped on some flip flops and headed out. maybe she could catch a movie.
when she found herself settled into a seat, her eyes widened as she realized titanic was playing on the large screen. she felt someone sink into the chair next to her, and she turned to take in the sight of haeil. âare they⌠this is not a good idea.â she shook her head. âyou⌠canât say âmacbethâ in a theater?â she questioned quietly.
âiâm not the only one who thinks this is borderline fucked up then?â he was relieved to hear it. superstitions were something people either believed or didnât. haeil didnât exactly believe them, but he didnât not believe them either. he found that it was better to err on the side of caution just in case. âyouâre not supposed to. apparently it curses the show. i donât know everything about the curse, but i know thereâs a way to break it.âÂ
âiâm not so sure there would be a way to break a curse that makes a ship sink though, if watching the titanic while on a ship does that. not saying it does, but if it does, weâre fucked. maybe we can share a floatie or something and survive it together,â he said with a morbid laugh. âyou think if we ditch we could avoid the curse?â he would use anything as an excuse to get out of sitting through the whole movie. if he had known this is what was playing, he wouldnât have come to watch it in the first place.Â

hunseo !Â
with a mouthful of popcorn, hunseo was doing his very BEST to distract himself. honestly, he wasnât the biggest fan of storms in the first place, but being in one in the middle of the ocean did raise his anxiety levels over sinking more so than ever before. the occasional thunder that met his ears when he got too close to the decks outside was enough to keep him nice and snug while watching whatever horrible movie choices were settled on.
it wasnât until the soft voice spoke beside him that his focus pulled away from the screen, lips parted as he listened to the otherâs opinion. he agreed, wholeheartedly, but he couldnât help but let out a quiet laugh. âare you saying watching this gives us bad luck? ⌠i donât know, maybe itâll be inspiring for some people. this whole thing could sink at any moment, might as well fall in love with someone and paint them naked while you still can, right? honestly, iâm more worried about the amount of security theyâre gonna have to double because of people trying to recreate the my heart will go on scene.â with that he filled his mouth with another handful of popcorn, humming thoughtfully. âkinda really donât wanna watch the last half of this, though. i like to pretend it ends when everyone was last happy, and then jack and rose ran off into the sunset. very warm sunset, and they stayed away from water forever. the end.â
âi donât think itâs giving us good luck,â haeil looked over at him, bemused. âitâs 2019. iâd be surprised if thereâs anyone out there painting their naked significant other. why waste the time doing that when you could just be fucking in whatâs potentially your last moments on earth?â he added thoughtfully. the thought of the ship sinking had been weighing on his mind since he set foot onto it. he was able to suppress any underlying fear, but sometimes it lingered and he felt the reality of it being a potential scenario.Â
he munched on his popcorn, trying his best to focus on the movie, and failing each time. heâd never seen it in its entirety; heâd either fall asleep or give up half way through. the temptation to get up and leave was prominent in the back of his mind, but he tried to be patient and get through it. he didnât have anything else to do, so it was either this or sitting in his room alone. âso you like happy endings?â focusing on the conversation was much more interesting than whatever was happening on screen. he felt bad for the constant back and forth of whispers, but most people who bothered showing up had probably seen the film before so he didnât feel bad enough to stop. âiâm surprised there hasnât been a remake where that happens. maybe itâs still coming. maybe you could write it.âÂ

the delay in docking was an inconvenience to everyone, but haeil was particularly annoyed by it. he thought heâd be off by now, doing anything else, and instead he was working overtime in the casino for those trying to pass the time. the shift dragged more than usual, and once his freedom was restored he decided to catch a showing of whatever movie happened to be playing.Â
by the time he grabbed popcorn and snacks, he realized that the movie was over half way through. what was worse is that it was the titanic. âisnât it kinda distasteful to show this movie while weâre on a ship?â he whispered to the person next to him. âespecially when thereâs a storm bad enough to keep us at sea for a few extra days going on. it just feels like something you shouldnât do, like saying âmacbethâ in a theater.âÂ

( min yoongi, cismale, he/him ) ⡠hey, thatâs HAEIL PARK whoâs originally from LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. i heard theyâre TWENTY-FIVE and have been working on the ship as a STAFF MEMBER AT BURIED TREASURE CASINO for TWO MONTHS. other passengers seem to say theyâre CLOSED OFF and UNPREDICTABLE, but are also known to be COMFORTING and EASY GOING. when theyâre missing home, i heard HIS FIVE YEAR SOBRIETY COIN can always cheer them up. ⡠( penny, she/her, 21+, est. )
tw: verbal abuse, physical abuse, murder, parental death, alcoholism, drug use, drug addiction.Â
( proceed with caution if any of those topics are triggering to you )
haeilâs childhood is something he doesnât think about often. he never talks about his past with anyone, to him the only thing that matters is moving forward.Â
his father had been abusive to him, his mother, and his younger sister for his entire upbringing. there never seemed like an option to change things, they just had to deal with it.Â
in school and other social settings, haeil kept to himself. he had learned from his home life to keep quiet and stay out of the way.
he was fourteen when he came home to his father in another drunken rage and abusing his mother. he called the cops and she was hospitalized. she died from her injuries a week later.Â
his dad was sent to jail and he and his sister were sent to foster care. then they were split up. the family who adopted him only wanted one child so he had to leave her behind.Â
he was sixteen when he developed a drinking habit. heâd spend his nights in parking lots, drinking cheap liquor out of brown paper bags.Â
his habits got worse as the people he hung out with got shadier. he would experiment with drugs and developed a heroin addiction.Â
he was kicked out by eighteen. by chance, his sister found him while he was aimlessly wandering the streets. once she saw the state he was in she was furious.Â
she helped him sober up. it took a few years for it to happen, but heâs 5 years sober. he doesnât drink or smoke or anything.
he needed something new to occupy himself and found that in playing cards. poker specifically. since he lived in las vegas, there were casinos everywhere.Â
he gained a reputation around the casino. as he improved at poker he improved at cheating too. eventually someone caught on.Â
that was all it took. after all the money heâd made from cheating, he knew he had to leave and lay low for awhile. this is why he hopped on the cruise.Â
he works as a staff member in the casino on the cruise. since he knows all about cheating, heâs great at catching when someone does.Â
itâs hard to say what his next fix will be, but he should think of something fast. nothing good ever happens when he gets bored.
heâs only been around two months, but thatâs still enough time to have some connections, so give me anything you need. friends, hook ups, flings, exes, enemies. iâll take anything! i have discord so if you prefer plotting there let me know and iâll add you :)Â
