No because this episode truly showed why nobody else had any hope for Vader.

Sure it was stated but we never really saw that pure evil that Vader was. We saw more of it in Rogue One, traumatizing little me who saw it for my moms birthday and was sobbing after everyone’s deaths.

Yes there was the scenes where he force choked people but they’re regularly quoted, even the comic scenes. They’re not, how do I phrase it, pure hate that is this Kenobi episode. We don’t really see in live action. But we did and we see that there is no hope for him, not now.

Vader is angry, there is no “oh there’s good in him” yet that everyone talks about later, that if given the chance he would turn back and honestly you can’t expect anyone to believe that especially at that time.

He walks through that town with unbridled power, the kind that makes you scared. He snapped a kid’s neck, just seconds after murdering his father and leaving a mother and wife in mourning.

He drags a woman with the force across town, injuring her. He blasts people across the town injuring them. He does it for fun, he didn’t have to do it, he would’ve dragged Obi Wan out anyway, but he wanted to make him suffer. To say “how many more people will die for you Kenobi?”

He lights Obi-Wan on fire. He symbolically stands on the other side of the fire like Obi Wan did to him 10 years ago. He lets Obi Wan escape in pain covered with burns because he wants him to suffer like he did. He wants everyone to go through the pain that he went through and it’s horrific.

This is the Vader everyone talks about, about wanting to see, it feels scary I would say. This is the Vader we were all scared of as children, cowering under the bed when we saw him, and it’s crazy that we only saw a tiny sliver of his hate.

I want to see more, I definitely do, but it’s so gut wrenching to see this Vader after seeing the prequels and clone wars. To see this kid who was light and loved so fiercely and protected everyone he cared for to turn into this boogeyman, the killer of the jedi is so horrific.
