Me when a LMJ video essay brings up great points about the game’s tenuous pacing and padding, bloated cast and eye rolling case conclusions and little to no character arcs, but fundamentally misunderstands Ernest’s character and refers to him as a one note simp that Katrielle takes advantage of

I swear to god nobody pays attention to the fact that Katrielle AND Ernest both state that Kat never wanted an assistant but Ernest insisted on helping anyway. She’s not methodically exploiting his crush on her, she’s just taking what she can get because she knows he won’t leave her alone😭. His clingy nature is never DIRECTLY explained in text but I don’t understand how people don’t realize that the orphan Mama’s boy would be so infatuated with the first woman to be kind to him when he underwent the stress of being accused of a crime he couldn’t commit. I think complaining that he’s a simp is a valid criticism in terms of PERSONAL taste but to say he’s badly written because he’s clingy is oversimplifying what LITTLE characterization we get from that game.
